Tsukemono and chazuke is my favorite meal. I spend so much money on just salted cucumber, daikon and cabbage. This video showed me how easy it is to make. More cooking videos please.

Satoshi-san is a good instructor! I love the idea of the pickled cucumber with rice and soy, maybe with black sesame seeds sprinkled on top. That would be a great snack or dinner side.

We used to do this when I was a child but we didn't do the vegetable as a whole. We always cut them up first. Doing them whole gives a nice presentation and it looks like they retain the crunch better. Thanks Satoshi!

Nama Japan we have pickled onions in America, but they are the pearl onions and are more like pickles. They are quite good along with fatty meat and soups.

Interesting video. I love pickled onions. In the UK we use small whole onions and put them in a jar with some pickling vinegar. I love them in a sandwich just on their own, or with chips (fries). I sprinkle the pickling vinegar on hot buttered toast.
