    Another solid video Sandman! You got Sparrowed 😂That's some proper shade! The "exact replica of his set..." should come with a (Your experience may vary).
    Thank you though for being very fair to Kilimaru (not to say you weren't with Sparrows). When I first saw this set get released my thoughts were that they seemed neat but niche. Look and presentation was interesting but the two pictures Sparrows put out for them were very poor quality and hard to tell what was going on with them in detail. Seeing them here I get why!
    Like you said, a $20 curio set maybe, but $120 cdn!?! One could get all of Jimy Long's flat, round, and diamond/gem 4 pick sets (12 great picks), and still have enough left for a CI Genesis or turning tool bundle!
    Thanks for all you are doing. I feel like some of these are PSA's for the lock picking community. The last thing I'd want is some new pickers grabbing these only to get frustrated and give up a cool hobby/skill they might otherwise found great fun.

    Thank you for the review, I bought the turning tools a few months back and I thought I was just dumb. I am just starting, but I just couldn't get them to work on locks I've already picked. They look cool, but just don't work like they should. Thank you for all that you do, keep it up.

    Thank you for this video. Sparrows unfortunately missed the mark with these and did no service to the original design creator. I have unfortunately also seen a recently new lock sport community member with these. I could only imagine how frustrated I would have been learning on these, and would have likely given up because they are so large i would be oversetting pins, not able to feel anything in the lock and would have probably been stumped at the white or yellow belt level.

    Ive got a couple of kileramu tensioners and without them I'd never have opened the master lock 19, but then i did have it in a vice.😊

    THX for the kind words and obviously u know u re a friend,
    And Also u got my respect 😊
    I know that set doesen't "Shine" on USA locks unfortunately... 🥲
    I sent to Sparrow a lot of other cncepts to works on, i'm still trying to innovate and offer Always Something "new and fresh" to play with...
    Something we win sometimes not...
    Anyway i will be glad to send u a bonespick set to play with and see a nice "SHOWTIME!"
    Keep up the good work! 😉🤜

    Hello Sandman, I also first used the killermaru set on a master lock similar to the one you've used. What I had found was that the tension tools are so thin they wedge themselves in a way that makes it difficult to turn properly by creating friction when applying tension. I had to use a different tension tool in order to fit the rake with the most teeth in the set to pick the lock.
    Also, in terms of quality assurance; the two hook lockpicks you received are actually not in the images shown in sparrows kirigami lockpick set page, but rather, an additional rake. Maybe sparrows should update the images, considering some customers may base their decision solely on what they see in the images on their page; and maybe a list of the contents included in the description.
    The positive side to this; at least sparrows has this set on the advanced section of their website. But they should go on further to note that killermaru is from italy, therefore, these lockpicks are primarily inspired by UK/EU locks that killermaru sees from day-to-day; making it a bit challenging for North American Locks.

    When I saw this come out my first reaction was "who the hell is this for?" None of the tools looked practical in any way, and this just confirms that suspicion. Good job as always

    I was very curious about them but then I saw how the reddit community always cite them as the example of the least useful kit there is. People mention the look, but I never see them used in "opens" photos or videos. And then your video came out and explains why.

  • @RedSlime27
    @RedSlime27 5 місяців тому +1

    I have them and really dont mind them not my go to tools but very pretty and interesting. As for sparrows products i honestly really like them for the price. I have petersen moki and southord but my sparrows are always the ones i reach for. Currently in locksmithing school and set the record for most picks and rekeys in an hour using sparrows. This is a collectors set not meant for hard use.

    I completely agree with you about the quality of the set. I bought just the tension tools and can't get them to work for me. I do think the tensioners are designed to be used while the lock is fixed in a door or a vice. Otherwise, I can't imagine how the springs work.

    LMAO I’ve only used the tensioners and had the same experience. I wasn’t sure if his concepts didn’t come through with sparrows production or what but they were definitely subpar in every way.

    I got these as I was intrigued about rhe tensioners (this was before they sold them separately) and also don't quite get it. I read somewhere that they were designed to prevent overtensioning. I'm glad I got them to add to my collection and the case is cool but I wouldn't recommend them. Killermaru's picks are works of art. I see Sparrows sells 1 of his picks with 1 wrench for $225, a big difference to this set!

  • @coinworker
    @coinworker 7 місяців тому +1

    "That's just like, your opinion, man" and I for one, agree with your opinion. I remember seeing these come out and thought long and hard about pulling the trigger. Glad I didn't buy them. $20 would be a good deal but then too many people would get suckered into buying them and never be able to pick a lock. Once again, Sparrows nails it with awesome aesthetics and the cool factor but drops the ball with the thing that matters... usability. Now what I really want to know is did you blow your money on the Thunderbird set and if so I NEEEED to see that review! Thanks again and keep up the good work.

    Everything i have gotten from sparrows is total cheap junk. The mini gutting mats with the plug follower and tweezers is about the only thing i would recommend from them. One question, is the sparrows disc detainer pick worth getting? Thats one thing i havent gotten from them, but i am nervous since of my other experiences with sparrows

    • @sandman_locksport
      @sandman_locksport  7 місяців тому

      I honestly don’t know. I own it and a few other disc detainer picks. But I do not pick those types of locks because they are not common here in America. It’s still something I’m trying to learn.

    Joke apart, this one has been a very easy pass for me. I always use the thickest tension tool and picks possible to get maximum feedback, I will definitely never buy tension bars / picks with springs everywhere. For sure it look cool but I just don’t get it. No I don’t want lamp bulbs painted black, I don’t want sticky pans, and I don’t want spingy picking tools!

    Another odd and weirdly marketed pick set I'd like to see your views on is Southern Specialties' The Force & Sith set. They also have only one or two garbage pictures that seem to obfuscate the quality of the picks, which I felt was somewhat the case with these from Sparrows (Scale and the Black on black).

  • @moses84hickory
    @moses84hickory 7 місяців тому

    I guess the tension tools are for door locks. You are holding a lock. If you are picking a door lock then you would be able to use the tension tools as they where designed for. One hand for pick the othe for tensioning Just my two cents. I will not by of use that set

    The turners are crap. And it seems like the pick handles have no purpose, I thought they might have been a mix of pick and manual pick gun, you know like squeeze the handle and it makes the rakes jump up. I have bought a lot of Sparrows but was never in a rush for this set as it was too odd looking.
