Thanks for the review! About the rings...they are made of sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver, with the remainder being copper. Sterling is a bit harder and will hold up to wear better than pure 99.99% silver.

IMO jackknife style pick sets are nothing more than novelty items. The fact of the matter is that the body of such tools makes them extremely unwieldy to say the least. (And because this, a small set of traditional picks (such as Southord’s MPXS-08) would be a far better (and less expensive) choice for EDC purposes.)

will picks from a beginner set (.25) fit inside this lock?

I request a video on SFIC + Lishi! I think the tension handle is on that side to protect the pick and the markings, but I will give reversing the handle a try. I have the Global Tecspro case and I always get the sense the Lishis want to interfere with each other in there. Sometimes I get bad readings on an open lock and I can't figure out why, as in the code I get isn't correct. Also sometimes the pointer will be in between cuts. Any tips for getting better readings?

Being new to the lock sport game, what would you recommend as a ‘next step’ lock to try for? I’ve been setting up my Covert Instruments practice lock with mixed results, but looking for a more incremental approach and would value your opinion

I just got into this hobby working on my first locks (the acrylic 5-pin practice padlock is pretty ridiculous), have a basic pick set but waiting on some bare bones gear based on your recommendations. Great Intro to Lishi tools. I hear it's a better idea to buy the 6 pin version of the schlage and kwickset lishi tools, because those can be used on both 5 pin and 6 pin locks.

That 300 that you see just means it has a Schlage keyway. My standard 83/45 says 300 on it.

I agree 100% as I am not in locksport. I am a hobbyist who got into picking out of necessity and interest. However I disagree with one point - that it’s perfect. I have one recommendation that I made to them - they need a riv pick option with the hooks reversed because of how I hold it, it constantly breaks in my hand. If they were reversed, I could pick with the riv identical to how I pick from the companion hooks.
