Oh I am so hooked on your channel man. I'm gonna try not to get to the point where I'm commenting on every last thing but this is such a unique insight and I am so excited to see you explain the process.
Absolutely amazing video! I think I'm gonna start drawing again! I haven't drawn for years but you just gave me an incredible urge to start drawing again!
I love these videos. You get a comic drawing course from a great pro. Been watching your channel for a while now and keep coming back to these videos especially as I’m an artist and they just help so much. Thanks.
I'm not going to lie I just learned a ton of stuff about where ive been going wrong on face studies just by watching this. Absolutely looking forward to more! Thanks Ethan!
Dude, that was fantastic! Everything about it, from the beginning of him being a potato to his second chin to him arranging an award. Just sublimely amazing. You, sir, are why I love the internet. I could literally watch this a hundred times, and I wish I could give you a thousand thumbs up. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to the next installment.
I had no idea that's how you draw a smile. I always thought you started with the lips, then added teeth. Thank you Ethan. I'm going to watch all these drawing videos. I watch your new videos, I didn't know these existed until you told someone these drawing videos weren't worth it. I think they are. Lots of love ❤❤❤
This was absolutely the most enjoyable video I have ever seen! What Bob Ross has done for painting in my life you have just done for drawing. Keep up the great work and I look forward to many more. I look forward to trying to follow along when i get home tonight. I knew you were cool, but you this video just blew me away. Sorry for geeking out so much lol.
Great video!!! Diversity & Comics and Capn Cummings, got me here!!! Watching this reminded me of when I used to watch the great Bob Ross!! Fantastic channel, subscribed! PLEASE keep doing this and SOMEONE GIVE THIS MAN A TV SHOW!!!!
Great, great stuff Ethan. I am a HORRIBLE excuse for an artist, muddling my way through penciling bad comix strips and the odd aborted comic attempt over the years, yet even I was able to draw a passably recognizable joker from this video. It was fun to try to follow along while listening to your commentary. You definitely have a measured, even quality to your voice that makes it easy to listen to you while I'm drawing or doing something else creative. I'm looking forward to more videos like this and the flash one you uploaded. This is my favorite comic channel to date.
Also, have you thought of filming you drawing some of the pages of Hal Jordan, and then releasing them when the issue comes out? It would be a nice little tie-in.
Love this channel, I’ve always said I have no artistic ability but I was really proud of my drawing after watching this. You’re a great teacher EVS please keep it up!!!
This is great! You've been one of my favorite artists since I picked up a copy of sinestro corps war while I was stuck in Walter Reed in 08. Thanks for all those years of great art!
Something I need help drawing is emotion. Namely fear. I decided to write and illustrate a graphic novel, and on page one I need to draw a henchman about to get shot at point blank. I’ve got the “brains splattered on wall” down pretty well, but the expression right before that eludes me. If you ever do a video showcasing how to express various emotions, I’d be eternally grateful.
would absolutely love a tutorial on hair. for some reason making hair has always been difficult for me. Another possible tutorial might be the blacking out that goes along with hatch lines. Thats another area that seems to not have any real rhyme or reason....I get tha it has to do with lighting and adding depth, but what is the consciousness thought process behind the shapes used? based on musculature? etc? so glad I found this channel btw
Yeah, I think tackling small things in these tutorials is best, because I want to keep them between 10 and 20 minutes long. So I'll do one for hair, and then another for legs, and another for eyes....like that. Stick around!
It's interesting to see how tight your drawing style is.I watched a video with Marc Silvestri drawing The Darkness and his style is very loose and rough(I tend to sketch in a similar way). My high school art teacher would not approve of you using H leads! If she caught use using H pencils she'd break them! (we still used them, just had to make sure she didn't see >_< )
Please do more of female-men characters, I would love to see your version of Ivy. As she is one of my favourites. DC comics are so much better than recent Marvel comics in my opinion.
Thank you for these videos Ethan. Star Wars brought me here but your drawing tutorials have been super helpful to me. Most tutorials are unwatchable. Well done
I would love to see DC actually delve into the world where Superman and Shazam would fight but you see Shazam would be the one on top because his power comes from magic and with Supe's magic is one of his Achilles heels. Maybe The Joker making Billy Batson think that Superman is possessed and needs to be redeemed from his madness or something,.
Do you think that drawing with a drawing tablet is a good way to get started, for example, I know I'll go through many supplies while learning so to save money i shall get a drawing pad to learn
Is it just me, or did you get 200 subscribers in a day? Either way, you deserve it. I'm going to start drawing as a hobby, and this will probably make it a whole lot easier. As Michelle Obama would say: "Great moves, Ethan! Keep it up. Proud of you." (It's from h3h3, if you didn't get it.)
ComicArtistPro Secrets Wow. You're channel is growing fast. Those are some subscribers well earned. So glad you're doing this. Keep up the good work, Ethan!
Cheers Ethan. Do you think the Joker works best as a younger or older man? Personally, I think he's more effective as a middle-aged character - perhaps in excess of Batman's years - rather than the more youthful version seen since the Morrison era. I like the notion that he has just lived and lived, having different lives and personas all culminating in his complete breakdown in later life. A sinister, unknowable tragedy.
ComicArtistPro Secrets Yes, the absolute duality of the pair is fun concept too so I guess the idea of them being matched in age makes sense. Maybe why I prefer an older Joker is because my earliest conception of the character comes from reprints of the Marshall Rogers’ incarnation in Detective and that famous cover from Legends of the Dark Knight No. 50 where he is holding that terrifying Joker Cat.
You DO realize that these tutorials are going to allow the Erica Hendersons of the world a stronger foothold into DC? You know what they say? "No good deed goes unpunished!" and also "Karma is a bitch!" I'd hate to see DC come to ruin ONLY because of these AWESOME tutorials! JUST KIDDING!!!! :)))))))))))))
It’s so cool that a famous comic artist like you is doing this keep up the great work Ethan

I love your videos im totally obsessed. Thanks for making these you have inspired me to attempt to get back to drawing.

ahhh i miss the drawing tutorial

It’s really cool to see how much thought goes into your art

Every once in a while you sound like Owen Wilson. Also I love your vids.
I think he sounds a lot like James and Mike from the Angry Video Game Nerd. So I'd guess he's from South Jersey or maybe Philly.
This is cool. I may try to go through all your videos and try to draw every lesson you have. Thanks.
Have you considered doing a tutorial on basic face layout and facial feature placement? That'd really come in handy.
I love this channel, it's just so cool to kinda hang out and hear your insight.
Thanks EVS. I appreciated this walk-through!
I'm still absolutely amazed, gonna have to try this out after getting some supplies at the art store

For your next video could you draw redhead Wally West rebirth?
Love your artwork and I hope someday to work at dc as either an artist or a writer
Also, have you thought of filming you drawing some of the pages of Hal Jordan, and then releasing them when the issue comes out? It would be a nice little tie-in.
Jacen Roger yeah, I’m thinking about that.
Awesome! Love the channel!
These videos are great. I'm binge watching them all right now.
Love Ethan! Thanks for the channel dude!
Love this channel, I’ve always said I have no artistic ability but I was really proud of my drawing after watching this. You’re a great teacher EVS please keep it up!!!

You are AMAZING at drawing
Hey Ethan, Can you do another Batman sketch? Maybe one that's more of a 'Dark Knight Returns' style?
This became my favorite channel and it just started
Hello EVS. Luv these videos. Keep up the great work
I'd like to see you draw Aquaman or Mera, I've only seen a few EVS Aquaman drawings and I don't think I've ever seen a Mera by you.
I'm interested in that video on drawing hair. It's a complicated thing drawing comic book style hair.
I love this. Finding a creator who is actually interested in the stuff they're creating is like finding the golden goose nowadays.

Love these vids! Thanks!
At the beginning of this video I was thinking of Brian Bollands version of Joker. Could you also do a tutorial on drawing pretty girls for us?
Very cool EVS!
Best Junkrat drawing ever.
Zack bought me here, subcribed!
I really liked the Joker from the 90s Arkham Asylum graphic novel also.
Yes! Multiple vids in a day! Keep it up, man!
Maybe try having some copyright free music in the background maybe? :3

That was amazing
This is great stuff. You're gonna make me pick up some pencils again
I really enjoy these videos. Here's to hoping you draw some females soon. I need all the help I can get.
Question: should I listen to music while I draw?
I can't draw a bath, but I know good art when I see it.
Awesome dude
The Joker may not be real but I hear he was based on Richard C. Meyer.
What's going on with Yellow Flash's back?
I think faces are the thing I struggle most with.
Thank you for these videos Ethan. Star Wars brought me here but your drawing tutorials have been super helpful to me. Most tutorials are unwatchable. Well done
OMG Thank You so much

Reminded me of Willem Dafoe at first but yeah, friggin awesome man :)
Can you draw a building in perspective
Do you think that drawing with a drawing tablet is a good way to get started, for example, I know I'll go through many supplies while learning so to save money i shall get a drawing pad to learn
learning using traditional tools and use digital too.
Bob Ross of drawing?
Why werent these videos around when was young and aspiring...
This guys awesome. Haha
“Not everything’s a joke” .....the universe “breaks pencil” ......”ok that’s a joke” lmao I love your channel man thank you 🙏
Great work. Just showed it to my 11 year old son who is so excited he finally can draw Joker.
I want to draw a picture of the joker faking a smile.
Think u can get hamill to do an intro for ur next joker vid?
I still find him really difficult to draw
any tips I could use?
Are you referencing the book from the beginning or is this being done straight from your head?
Is it just me, or did you get 200 subscribers in a day?
Either way, you deserve it. I'm going to start drawing as a hobby, and this will probably make it a whole lot easier.

Jacen Roger 300, I think.
ComicArtistPro Secrets Wow. You're channel is growing fast.

Nicholson eyebrows!
What lead you use?
Cheers Ethan. Do you think the Joker works best as a younger or older man? Interesting question. I think he's exactly Batman's age. He's the opposite side of the coin from him, a different kind of madness.
ComicArtistPro Secrets Yes, the absolute duality of the pair is fun concept too so I guess the idea of them being matched in age makes sense. any chance i can buy this drawing off of you?
"He's not real" lol.
Subbed!

You DO realize that these tutorials are going to allow the Erica Hendersons of the world a stronger foothold into DC?
You know what they say? "No good deed goes unpunished!" and also "Karma is a bitch!"
I'd hate to see DC come to ruin ONLY because of these AWESOME tutorials!
JUST KIDDING!!!! :)))))))))))))
He's already creepy with half his head drawn
I think he'd look interesting if he had a hair style like the tall man from Phantasm
I'm drawing a really ugly joker!
I was watching this 1.5 speed by mistake and didnt even notice, Haven't changed it back because you talk slow as hell
That was awesome.
