I have thought for the last couple videos that your hair has looked thicker and shinier before this video came out if that counts for anything. But to be honest, I've always thought you were beautiful and only noticed your hair thinning when you mentioned it. I just thought you had fine hair. I pay more attention to your bubbly personality and the intelligent/dignified way you present yourself.

I too am losing my hair-due to hormone issues and anemia. It’s been very difficult. I have lost 3/4 of my hair. I had very thick hair , so it’s not as noticeable to some. But my now very thin and fine hair is just so different from the long thick locks that I used to have. It’s harder for women to lose their hair, in my opinion, because it’s not the accepted norm. Men look great bald. Not every woman can carry that look. Not every woman can afford a $400 wig either. Thank you for addressing this issue. You Rock!! Many blessings.

Emerald Dawn do you get any meds for the hormonal imbalance? I have the same issue, but i take something called androkur, it gets rid of excess testosterone and i dont think its very noticeable on me anymore. Definitely has stopped the thinning and hairs are starting to grow back

Lesieva I do take synthroid for thyroid/ hormones. I have a brain tumor on my pituitary gland, which is what controls hormone production. I will ask my doctor about the medication you mentioned. Im always looking for something to help the situation. My hormones are all over the place so finding something that would help would be a godsend! I’ve incorporated better foods/nutrition and vitamins into my diet. The Hair, Skin, and nails vitamin combo has helped with the strength of my hair, but not so much thickness. I also use rosemary essential oil in all my hair products. I’ve stopped using a lot of hair products, especially hair spray. I wash my hair twice a week and use all natural products. It’s helped. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear! Thank you. Blessings

As a hairstylist with product knowledge this product is great. I’m shedding now a lot, my hairline is freaking me out. Some words of advice for women suffering hair loss. Some medications cause hair loss, and make colouring your hair resistant,
Have your thyroid and iron levels checked. If your iron and thyroid are A-OK have your doctors check your iron storage level. You can have sufficient iron but if your storage levels aren’t high enough your hair can start falling out. Organic aloe helps with hair growth. Also Rosemary, frankincense, and Blackseed oil will also help stimulate hair growth. Do daily scalp massages whenever possible to get your circulation flowing, and once a month use a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup off your hair and scalp. Stress can cause significant hair loss. Good luck everyone

This is the first time I've commented on a video so bare with me people if I suck at it lol. Cassie, I have looked up to you since you first started UA-cam. I even made my account to subscribe and like your videos. Maybe it's because I'm a fellow Minnesotan or the mutual love for cats, but I feel like I can relate to you. You are beautiful! Inside and out! And anybody who hates on you is really just miserable in their own life. Also, shaved heads on women are beautiful! I used to shave my head my senior year of high school (I'm 20) and now have a Mohawk. Having a shaved/mostly shaved head is so freeing and boosted my self love and confidence. I would recommend it for every woman. Please do not feel too self conscious about how you look because honestly when I see you I see true beauty. Thank you to anyone who read this comment and please remember to love yourself. Self love is possible.

Girl, that made a huge difference! And if something's working keep using it! I'm a stylist and an educator and I am always spreading the nioxin gospel. But everyone seems to do the same thing - their hair seems better so they stop using it. But if the issue that's causing your hair loss hasn't been resolved, you risk losing all that amazing progress you made. I know this is an older video, but if you're still dealing with these issues, I live in MN too and I'd love to help you out ♡

First - Have you been to the dermatologist? Not to get personal, but do you take any meds? Many cause hair loss. Also, have you ever been tested for thyroid issues or PCOS? Have you been tested for any other endocrine disorders? Anxiety, weight loss, change in diet or a big emotional upheaval can cause hair loss too. Nioxin and most hair/scalp treatments work on super cleaning the hair and soothing the scalp. Rogaine is a good treatment but the second you stop your hair will thin. You are brave to come forward and may help a lot of people! You are beautiful no matter how much hair is on your head!

Update 7/18/19: Correction! It was the Nixoin 5 System.
I see definite improvement. My long, thick beautiful hair began falling out in 2014 slowly then by 2018 and 2019 you could drive a Buick through the part in my hair. Of course tears and more tears. Research.
A bestie friend sent me Nioxin 3 system but I only used the shampoo. I wash my hair on average twice a week since I’ve been injured and had two recent back surgeries. So using Nioxin shampoo for about five months and washing my hair on average twice a week, now, my hair hardly has any ‘hair fall’. My hair looks fuller and is fuller. It has to be the Nioxin shampoo. I’m almost out and I’m gonna order some more.

Thrift Thick DISCLAIMER - this was WAY longer than anticipated but I felt there'd be questions if I didn't explain it all...like why were you sweating so much etc.
I was lucky. I had ACTUAL Pantene pro v commercial hair my whole life. Random strangers, not often but it did happen, would come up behind me & touch my hair exclaiming how thick and beautiful it was. Every time I'd go to the salon the stylist would remark on how thick and healthy it was, too. My hair was like that for 35 years then it did a 180.
For 15 years I've been progressively getting sicker. My very first symptom was random bouts of sweating regardless of temperature. Needless to say, I was dismissed at the doctors office since it wasn't life threatening & they had no clue what was causing it. Every 4-5 months or so, a new symptom would appear and never go away to the point that I had to stop working in 4/2016. By 2016 I had seen 20+ doctors from endocrinologists to cardiologists, even a rheumatologist couldn't figure it out. I had over 300 tests run with + no results.
I went from just a little sweating 15 years ago to:
    - Profuse sweating with ANY exertion even just walking or sitting up
    - Panic attacks from me focusing on my weird physical symptoms
    - Severe headaches increasing in frequency
    - Muscle weakness and joint pain
    - High blood pressure & heart rate
    - Tachycardia with any exertion
    - Balance or clumsiness issues but they're very mild and not often
    - Severe nerve pain
    - Extreme fatigue...like if I got out for 2 hours to run errands, I crash when I get home for 4-5 hours
    - Numbness & tingling in my hands
    - Constantly feeling like I have a flu
    - Heat AND cold intolerance
    - Shortness of breath walking, talking too much, and climbing steps....I can't run but that'd do it too
    ANNNNNNNND
    - HAIR LOSS.
I lose so much hair, that if I don't brush it 2x a day, and I'm so exhausted I rarely do, it DREADS from the fallout. Imagine if you put your hair in a bun, took out the bun, and all your hair matted together. Then , because I have no energy, I have to put off brushing it out until I do have the energy which makes it 100x worse and causes more hair loss. It's a vicious cycle. My hair is literally HALF its thickness from 2/3 years ago before it started falling out. It also looks frizzy, dead and lifeless. It feels like it's destroyed from heat & dyeing...none of which has touched my hair in over 5 years.
The hair loss delayed my diagnosis, along with weight gain. Because I'm a woman, multiple doctors kept checking my perfectly functioning thyroid...you know weight gain, tired, hair loss can be hypothyroid. BUT you don't get hot & sweat profusely with hypothyroid, that's HYPERthyroid and it's impossible to have both. Turns out the 70lb weight gain was caused by ovarian cancer (diagnosed by a fluke cat scan, not related to symptoms & cured without treatment, just surgery!) but the hair loss???
    *PROFUSE SWEATING CAUSES HAIR LOSS*
That's right, just sweating is why I'm losing my locks. Apparently it interferes with the blood flow & follicles in your scalp...similar to wearing a baseball cap all the time. No doctor told me this or suggested it could be from sweating, until I asked. So the only way to stop my hair loss was to stop the sweating. And to do that, I needed to find out what was wrong with me.
NEVER let a doctor tell you that looking up your symptoms online is a bad idea! I mean, YES, if you're healthy. But if you've been sick for months or years with no answers GET ONLINE. I found out what was wrong with me in DAYS and one test has already confirmed that I was right. Now it's about determining what subtype I have...
    I have Dysautonomia.
It's when your entire autonomic (aka AUTOMATIC) nervous system, which controls everything your body does automatically, FAILS or MALFUNCTIONS. All the things you take for granted because you don't need to think about them. Just imagine how disabling it would be to not be able to breathe right, or if your body can't digest food right so you lack essential nutrients. Or how bad you can feel with high or low blood pressure. NOW imagine ALL OF THOSE and more going wrong at that same time. That's what my life has been like for at least 4 years when all my symptoms became apparent. The docs believe my subtype is Hyperadergenic POTS or postural Orthostatic Tachycarda Syndrome or Autonomic Failure. Either way, it took 15 years and me finally going online to get a diagnosis. There is no cure but it is manageable with meds, therapy, lifestyle changes and time.
I'm in bed now, unless I have somewhere I have to be. This disease has stolen my "best years" (30-40 yrs old) and I'm pissed off because it didn't have to be this way. If doctors were trained to recognize the symptoms, i may be fine right now. There's no cure because there's barely any research, maybe if people were diagnosed right away, it might be reversible who knows! So I wanted to get my story out there to make people aware of this AND that sweating too much on your head causes significant hair loss.
I know, this comment is a book lol! If you read all of this, thank you.💙
Oh and the dummies at the dyasutonomia foundation or institute thought it'd be a fantastic idea to choose OCTOBER as Dysautonomia awareness. 🙄
Our unheard of crippling disease is competing with breast cancer "October is breast cancer awareness month". I think that alone is an obstacle in bringing awareness.

    Dear Cassie,
I am a medical assistant at a Dermatology office. Have you tried seeing a dermatologist for this issue? They are many names for “hair loss,” i.e. Androgenic Alopecia (aka Female Pattern Baldness), Alopecia Areata (aka balding spots), and Telogen Effluvium (aka hair shedding). Many of these have a genetic component to them. The treatments we offer at our office for these issues include ILK injections (steroid injections typically used for Alopecia Areata to stimulate hair growth in a particular balding spot), Spironolactone (a diuretic which helps hold on to the hair you have and prevents new shedding), Propecia, or Minoxidil (generic Rogaine - we only recommend the men’s version). I would talk with a dermatologist about this further! Hope this helps.

    • @duckamber
      @duckamber 6 років тому +19

They can also run blood work to check if you have any vitamin deficiencies or hormone imbalances that may be contributing to this issue!

      Hi Amber! Thanks so much for all of the information... I have yet to see my dermatologist for my hair since I didn't know that that was an area that dermatologists cover; I always think of them for skin concerns but I suppose the scalp is skin so I don't know why I didn't make that connection haha. Either way, I wanted to ask: is there a reason you only recommend the men's version of Rogaine? I recently started using the one for women purely because the ones for men say very boldly on the box that women SHOULD NOT use it so I got scared ^^;

Thrift Thick I have female pattern hair loss. I have PCOS. I went to a dermatologist about 15 years ago. They diagnosed me for sure after taking a small punch biopsy. I tried the pills and for some reason they gave me high blood pressure. I couldn't afford the hair loss sprays. Even the store brand sprays were over $20.00 back then. I have researched and ketaconozole containing shampoo such as Nizarol 1% is supposed to help. There is a Rx version that is 2% that you can get. I never treated it when I should have to preserve what I had. I wear wigs now. They are OK looking, just so very hot in warm weather. I hope you find something that works for you.

You are so genuine in your videos and you feel like one of my friends, you’re an awesome person! And you are so pretty! I also am dealing with hair thinning, it’s breaking my heart, I don’t know what to do about it, I’ve always had fine hair but lots of it, now I am struggling with hair loss, a lot on the top as well, and I know most of it is hormonal, I have PCOS, so I have weight issues as well, but also it was most noticeable after the Covid vaccines and booster. Not trying to start anyone off on that, but legit, for real, me, my mother, and my husband all had significant hair loss after each shot, no other symptoms. So with already having thinning hair this just sort of ravaged my self esteem, and I still lose a grip of hair in every shower. I am going to try these products. You are such a lovely person, one of my favorite UA-camrs.

I have very fine thinning hair too. I am a Hair Stylist and am familiar with Nioxin. I know it is expensive so that is one draw back that keeps me from using it. The Idea is to increase the blood flow to your scalp. When you increase the blood flow to your scalp the theary is that it feeds your papilla (where your hair originates in the base of your folical) When you feed your papilla with more blood flow it should increase your hair growth and hair stength. So the number 1 best thing you can do is to brush your scalp with a paddle brush with balls on the tips of the brissles morning and night till your scalp is pink from increased blood flow. I do this and it has at best stopped my hair from thinning more. Hope this helps. Lots of Love and Kindness.

Oh my gosh, I just had to comment again, The difference between the April '17 and December '17 is *very* obvious! Wonderful!
For what it's worth, I started using OGX's Biotin and Collagen shampoo and conditioner....very affordable and nice scent, available at Walmart.
I had a reaction to a medication I took post surgery 2 years ago and one of the side effects was marked hair loss. It started kind of coming back about a year later, but was slow going. I started using the biotin and collagen products 5 months ago and the difference has been *amazing*. Not only are the individual strands thicker and stronger, but the new growth is very noticeable.

Every single aspect of your health, whether it be your vision, your immunity, skin condition, mental wellness, hair growth, is controlled by nutrition and the gut. Heal the gut, restore deficiencies, consume a protein and flora rich-ph balanced diet, and the condition of your hair and scalp WILL improve. Hair is literally an external extension of your nervous system so hair growth and health are 100% correlated.

I'm not sure if you've used these yet, but my mom really likes Keranique. She tried Nixon and didn't really see any results but almost immediately saw them from Keranique. She also was referred to a dermatologist who gave her a prescription for a pill that can help with thinning hair and the two together have stopped her hair loss and allowed the hair to start growing in sparse areas. Obviously different things work for different people but I just wanted to let you know about that in case you hadn't heard of it or were wondering about other products 😊

My hair has been thinning for years. Seriously for over 10 years. You can see my scalp at my crown. It is embarrassing and makes me super insecure. I have been tested for everything and they just can not find out why. I usually wear my hair pulled up in a clip on top of my head to try and hide it. I have tried hair fibers, biotin, and tons of other things. I am going to go see a hair loss specialist soon, and possibly get a "topper" to wear when I am going out for something special. I can definitely see a difference in your before and after pics, it makes me want to go out and buy the stuff and try it!! I tried Nioxin a few years ago, and didn't notice much of a difference for me. Mine got so bad, you could literally see my scalp all through my hair. When I saw the pictures from my sister's wedding (I was her maid of honor) I cried, it was so bad. I finally decided I would start wearing a wig, and I have never looked back! If you check out any of my videas, I've had a few different styles over the past few years, but I think what I have now is my favorite - very natural and comfortable. Plus, I don't have to fuss and fix my hair every day! Good luck, Cassie, I hope yiu can find a solution that works for you!

Cassie, Have you had your thyroid checked lately? Not just the basic thyroid ck up test, but more in-depth into the T3 & T4 levels. My basic thyroid test shows me as borderline having hypothyroidism (low thyroid). When the docs test my T3 & T4. It shows I'm in fact low. It caused weight gain, fatigue, & tons of hair loss. Since I'm on medication. My hair is thickening back up. I feel better & well losing the weight is slow. Anyway just wondering if you've cked yours. Ive heard good things about Nioxin.

It looks a lot better Cassie! It’s definitely looking fuller. Personally though I didn’t care if your hair was thinning because my grandmother’s hair was thinning but she took pride in it and when I was younger and would make comments about it she’d always say something like “That just means you’re going to go bald when you get older!” And I love having a full head of hair with no signs of going bald anytime soon, so I quickly learned to not be bothered by thinning hair lol The men in my family lose hair around 18-23 years old and I’m 18 and have no signs of losing hair anytime soon. I could wake up to-morrow with a bald spot lol But Im hoping that’s not the case anyway and doing my best to take care of my hair ❤️ much love and support Cassie!

There's a massive difference! I'm impressed! I'm a hair loss sufferer too- I have PCOS and lost 50% of my hair. It's stabilised now that I have corrected my hormone levels but I used Rogaine for around 6 months and had amazing results. Stopped using it (because I'm lazy) but thankfully still no hair loss and good regrowth. Probably down to remedying my fluctuating hormones. Have you considered Rogaine? If you're unhappy with scalp on show you can purchase coloured hair fibre sprays (which I just like to think of as dry shampoo) and that works fantastically. Don't let it knock your confidence- you're a beauty! Upon doing all my research I realised that this is a very common problem that lots of women go through. We're only human!

Cassie! Try Viviscal. I’m on my second box and I’m amazed at how much my hair has thickened, how much less it sheds on wash days and how much faster it’s growing. The crazy part is I forget to take it a lot and it’s still making a huge difference even with my irregular usage. I will continue to buy and use this product over Nioxin. Another thing that has made a HUGE impact was that I stopped washing my hair everyday. Now I wear a shower cap when I shower and only wash my hair every 3 to 4 days. My hair was as thin as yours, i know exactly how you feel. Ps.... I’ve had every blood test under the sun trying to find the cause with no answers.

From a Medical point of view I can recommend you to do a full analysis with your doctor of choice and check for anemia that it is an important cause for hair loss or hormonal disorders, if you correct the base problem you may solve your hair issue. In our modern days we often don’t get or absorbe the enough quantities of vitamins and other important nutrients that promote the healthy growth of both hair and nails (along side many organic functions) and food supplements for Vitamin B12, Collagen and even Folic Acid help a lot to improve hair and nail growth, but again, check with a doctor of your trust and rule out any disorders or diseases that may be the cause of your hair loss. Another cause may be genetic, if your mom and dad suffered from hair loss then even though it is not common that women lose hair than you will likely have the genetic information to do it. If your mom doesn’t have important hair loss than it is highly unlikely that the origin problem is genetic and it could have its basis in a nutritional deficiency or the rather unpleasant option of a disease or disorder. Having that in mind YOU my dear are beautiful just the way you are and please don’t let people bring you down because of this. You are pretty, you are special, you deserve to feel good and love yourself always 💗🙌🏻 I hope could help you in some way and remember to smile and look today in the mirror and see the beautiful person I and everyone of your UA-cam community friends see too! My daughter uses Nioxin. It’s crazy she has tight curls that get really frizzy and her hair is so thin. Me on the other hand, I have crazy thick hair that has loose curls. I actually shaved my head last year twice and loved it! I decided to just go gray and stop coloring my hair. My hair grows so fast that it’s already down to my shoulders again. When I had basically a crew cut, I got so many compliments. I was shocked. I almost miss how easy it was to take care of.
I see a difference in your side by side. It takes a long time for you to see a better result. I’ve also heard some great things about keranique. Have you heard of it?

Absolutely worked! I’ve had fine hair my entire life - was the one consistent go-to theme that anybody who wanted to pick on me at school would rly hammer home. I would often be told I was going bald and I’ve spent my entire adult life worrying abt it (and having friends and family reassure me that I’m just imagining it) but the thing IS with your* hair, a) I honestly didn’t even notice your hair to be “thin” when I clicked on this video and was expecting a bald guy to be brought in! So there’s that! But b) as ppl pointed out, the after shots are DEFINITELY thicker and fuller! It’s hard when we have this complex bc we always notice the bad but never the good. I’m also taking B vitamins, sao Palermo supplements and folic acid... I just saved up enough money to get hair extensions and I couldn’t be happier! And even tho I’m receding and thinning up top (I think I still don’t know for sure lol), the extensions compensate for this! And I can still use topical treatments/can start rogaine if I feel the need and apparently that’s fine too! So lots of things out there if u want more results! Definitely not a death sentence (as I once thought) lots of love hope ur happy abt ur hair after hearing some honest feedback! (NB: sorry if I’ve mentioned things uve already made vids on, I just found ur channel just now... Subbed!) xo

That stuff is okay. I used it for over a year and also achieved meh results. Turned out I need a DHT blocking shampoo. The one I use is PURA D'OR Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo (Gold Label). It has helped much more than the Nioxin did in my opinion anyway. No matter what you decide you're always gorgeous.

I can definitely see a difference! I can't believe people can be so rude and forward. I am sorry you have to even see that. You're one of my favorite UA-camrs and I love the content you put out. You make my day better, so thank you for that.

I've wondered for several weeks if you've been doing something different because the change is very noticeable. I think you're not seeing it because it's just so gradual. Either way, thank you so much for opening yourself up to us. So proud of you!

Hi lovely, have you been checked for PCOS? Thinning hair and trouble losing weight/gaining weight etc are two of the symptoms that I have too. Not cool...not nice, but sometimes it’s nice to know the whys :) in any case, you are beautiful, educated and articulate...don’t let others- or even yourself let you think otherwise xxx

Hi ladies a good tip for noticing if you might have PCOS is the darkening of your skin and abnormal facial hair. Weight is also a big flag but weight can lead to a lot of other issues! I apparently have had PCOS since I was in 8th grade... but just got diagnosed after this summer

#1 I appreciate you doing this video! I too, have thinning hair. I love that you don’t have perfect hair/skin. Some of us need to see how products work on us normal folks who aren’t beauty queens!
And #2 I can tell a difference! Can’t wait to see the results of your Rogaine journey too. Please remember before and after photos!

Girl I have very thin hair and this last year mine has started to bald at my parting, it makes me so self conscious. This is the first time I've seen your video because I searched "good shampoo for thinning hair". The fact that people are here making fun over things that are natural just shows what fake realities people try to live in. You're beautiful, never forget that. Sure we can find things out there to help us with what we deem as issues, but don't let these losers make you stop loving yourself.

I do think it looks thicker Cassie. I've been noticing it a lot more lately. I was wondering if you were doing something differently that was helping because I think it's very noticeable.

I do see a difference, Cassie. I even noticed it before you posted this video, keep it up! You are awesome, don't let the haters, as hard as it is, get to you! Us Casseroles will always have your back, girlie!

Cassie, be sure your iron levels are good, this can also cause hair thinning. Keep at it and down with the haters!
