I can't believe you actually called yourself "Solo a Star Wars Story" in your meeting with the people from Silbersalz. Well glad to finally know your actual name, we always knew you weren't really called "Jason".
For me the best thing about Silbersalz is their scan quality. The price, being that I live in Germany, is unbeatable for film, development and scanning (high res tiffs). I bought the box with 4 different film stocks first and then decided that I like 500T the most. Definitely worth it and thanks for showing what this film & scanner combo is capable of!
Yes, very true. Excellent value in Germany. It is more like €70 including everything (4 rolls of film, dev, scan, shipping). If one buys Kodak Portra for roughly €12 or Tmax for €9 then it is about as expensive as silbersalz if there is no possibility to develop or scan at home. Silbersalz includes a 20MP+ scan. Most labs charge a lot more money for scanning. Luckily I am in the position to do that. However, their offer is still nearly unbeatable.
Since i went digital some twenty years ago and really kicked off my learning curve in general, i live in this constant state between "why would you do that to yourself and work with film in this day and age" and "the whole idea of shooting analogue is somewhat compelling and inspiring". I love your channel, you're a funny dude and i like a lot of your work shown.
Perfectly described man. I actually was actually thinking about that yesterday while I was getting withdrawal symptoms after 2 weeks of no Jason video.
Wait, what? 60€ for 4 rolls including scan and developement? living in germany thats about as much as just buying cinestill or portra and thats not developed or scanned

@@babayaga9102 The x-pan is a rangefinder that uses the light to illuminate a part of the camera to see the framelines and estimate the composition. Normally you don't need this in daylight but at night you don't see it. However, you have this problem with every analog rangefinder camera.

Amazing video. The amount of sarcasm is on point and the photos are really nice. Just a really nice video and a good channel. Please keep doing the amazing work.
The thing is that I know the US sceneries from movies so good that the images you guys show instantly feel some kind of nostalgic and "well known" even if I've never been there. I wonder if it had the same impact when I would take them over here in Germany. I guess there's only one way to find out!
My film guy (nt photoworks) here in the UK has managed to find a supply of fresh ECN2 chems. They get them from BelliniFoto as well as a load of other weirder stuff like b&w positive.

your LA foto safari shots are really quite good. Glad to see you trying to build a little more density in yur daytime shots! good stuff! silbersaltz has the look! ;)
One thing that really bothers me is that you have to pay for shipping 3 times: - Ordering the film rolls - sending them back for developing - paying for getting the negatives back
from the perspective of shipping stuff to america from germany and back. Sure its a bit pricey and annoying but for "normal" film you got the same costfactors. And in germany the prices for normal color film are insane porta 400 going at the moment for 12€+ which makes silbersalz costing the same as or even being cheaper if you factor in dev and scanning
@@TheScout154 I know I'm from Germany as well. But 15€ just for shipping negatives through the country isn't very economic. But that's the case for every mail in lab.
It's always like that though. You pay for shipping to buy the film, and again during developing. The difference with Silbersalz is that it's all 1 company.
Might try this film, very promising. The Mindys Restaurant pic is like straight from a horror game, the leftside darkness, who knows what is looming beyond the corner.

I never understood why some cameras would place dials on the FRONT side of the camera as shown at minute mark 15:40. But now I see that it's because setting up a shot at eye level on a tripod would make this far easier than standing on a box over your camera every time you want to adjust.
