The heart of this song is the drummer, he did it perfectly.
Josh freese ...
@@aiwass84no wonder
Amazing drumming 🙌
i became a bass player because of you sir.. love you...
Coooool. Va
Seguro eres un excelente bajista!
Sting is like wine, getting better with age.
Really
Ha ha that's smart
I saw him in Montréal one year ago, the guy is in top shape...
yes he is great
Josh Freese is such a monster on drums... And the fact he plays for both the punk band The Vandals and a star like Sting is awesome!
It's incredible to see him playing here and now is the new Foo Fighters' drummer
What a Big Score for Foo Fighters!
@@anoka8967 came here to hear how cool he is , once more. ❤❤❤
@@anoka8967 He's been with so many bands including Devo, A Perfect Circle, etc.
Thrilled to see the Foo Fighters are still going strong with new impetus brought in by Josh Freese. Brilliant on the drums here, what a cracking signing by Dave Grohl!
Josh Freese killing it on the drums - so solid
Granted, a great drum track, but nothing compares to Copeland on the original track.
Have a listen to Josh Freese on Dean Delray podcast ~ Let there be Talk ~ episode 615
Listen from Vinnie Colaiuta please.🤘😎
It's a small detail, but Sting playing the guitar riff on the bass in the intro sold it for me. Sounds amazing, such quality and such grace... This man is a legend.
it's amazing! it adds so much to that intro.
He does it really well on guitar. You should check out one of his live solo performances. Just him and the guitar. Spot on!
His plucking technique is also really cool
and your voice it's great sound!!!! Sting is awesome!!!!
This video has been out over a year and already I see 788 haters...Truly saddened by this sight but yes, Sting will always be one of the greatest and purest voices crowds will ever get to hear in their lifetimes! @@MarceloSilva-bs7nu
Josh Froese nails it on the drums. He is playing with the Foos now. ❤
On Drums is „Vinnie Colaiuta“ (Frank Zappa, …)
Stewart Copeland way better
I come here to make a complaint with youtube. How can you not like more than once?
Sting is one of the best artists of all time, his stage presence is surreal, not to mention his versatility in music. Congratulations Sting for being such a complete artist, and for this incredible performance. 👏👏👏👏👏
Sting sounds the same as he did back then with the police. This man is unique in every way possible.
eric izzett no, his voice sounds hoarser.
+Maurizio Nieddu he plays it in the same key. message in a bottle is in c#m
When I saw him with the Polic e in 2008, my impression was he could hit the same notes, but not as often. There were songs played in lower keys, and other melodies where he sang a low note instead of a high. For "So Lonely" he only sang the last verse high. So the notes are still there, but he has to be a bit more careful with his voice.
He sounds different but better
He is fantastic a studio recording is obviously going to be better.. absolute icon!#
The guitar effects and sounds are unbelievable. Amazing live mix
POLICE the Best englisch rock sting very god!
This is one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. It should be studied in any music history class because of the guitar tones, sting’s overall stage presence, and all of his band mates. This video never fails to make me tear up from how passionate the crowd is! Bravo sting 🐝
Try Bad Girls Singin in the Rain Live in Verona.
Loving the guitar harmonics in this version, they add so many layers of color.
Timeless classic. And a big hand for the amazing guitar and drummer !
Josh Freese is epic on the drums 🥁 and the band including Sting 🐝 ~ superb 🎶🎵🇦🇺
初めてこの曲を聞いたのは、高校生の頃、、。歌詞に衝撃でした。
孤独だけど、孤独じゃないって思えてきます。
それにしても、声が変わらない!
No matter what drummer plays the police music it can't be as great as Stewart. He's so unique and his drum sound is so different. You know its him when he plays.
This might be the final form of this song.
Yes, but I also do like much this ending

No I think the version from The Police Certifiable is the final form. Way more energy.
@@marvinpeace882 absolutely
can't be since Copeland isn't present!
Must be nice to have fronted a trio that slayed the world... Thanks Sting!!!
Saw them at Shea Stadium in queens NY back in august of '83 those three guys could rock and tear down the house.
One of the best covers of the original Police classic...ever.
(I'm just joshin' around, folks)
Good on Sting for taking care of himself to be able to still do such awesome renditions decades later.
One of the all time best songs. I share it with my kids.
I must have heard this song a million times over the years (I was lucky enough to see the Police play it live a few years back), and it still sounds so damn fresh
love this version...nice tempo and guitar arrangements.
Nothing, absolutely nothing will replace Stu and Andy (putting Sting’s amazing compositions through the right ‘Police treatment’) but this one does not disappoint.
Brasil?
The two guitars make a big difference to the tonal breadth of the verses, and I missed Copeland's crazy tight snare. I agree, it's very different but I like what they did here.
My best version maybe live synchronicty..this version ok though with 2 guitar..but miss some drum fill by the only stewart coppeland. Its just me perhaps.
@@gentasepriandi999 No I entirely get it. This was the difference with Stewart and Andy. Stewart's style was always very energetic and the songs do feel different for it.
Couldn't agree more
Music connects people. A truly magical power and Sting sings as if he never got old: amazing performance!
That smile, man! I hope I'll always keep the smile like him when I'll be the same age.
As a musician myself. This song is literally like a mathematical equation
you're right
Those guitar tones! Absolute perfection.
He is a legend. We love you Sting

No matter what, Bass will go down as one of the most underrated instruments of all time ❤️
Underrated? Who Underrates it? Bass is super important, we all rate it essential!
@@jackblevel8296 I still don't know why people doesn't understand the meaning of the word Underrated!
maybe word overlooked fits more than underrated - its rated as essential, but its often overlooked when music is appreciated :)
All 3 piece bands like Rush or the Police bass is the main driving force of the band.
Yup geddy lee is the best
" Sending out an SOS"
" only hope can keep us together ❤️ love can mend your life, but love can break your heart"
What a great performance of a game changing song..
I was privileged to see Sting live on his "Back To Bass" tour. Vinnie Colaiuta was on drums. 😲Unbelievable!
Allister Naidoo I love him so much
Vinnie .one and only. 😎🤘
This is my favourite police song since I was a kid, when he played the song in Mexico city last year, was definitely one of the greatest moments of my life. Thank you Sting
Olá..me gusto mucho del ritmo, sting sobrepôs tu bajo em paralelo con lo riff, natural dela cancion...perdon por erros en espanol ..si..gracias..Anderson.. Sorocaba são Paulo BRASIL..😎☝️
British rock at its best
Can’t get any better than this!
The concert this evening in Wiesbaden was so lovely ❤I will never forget that ❤Thanks ❤😘💞😘🤗🥰
he using the same bass guitar. a legend.
Nothing compares to seeing Sting in person. He is magnetic when watching him on a video or on television but when you are watching him in a live concert, there is an energy there that is rare and something I have rarely witnessed before. His presence commands the venue with a power that cannot be resisted or ignored and it leaves you feeling like you have experienced music at it's uplifting best and on the deepest intellectual and very human level.
I grew up three streets away from Sting....he went to my school (I was 15 years younger); him, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits; Eric Burdon of the Animals and Brian Johnson of AC/DC totally represent the passion of Newcastle people.
@@gmalt888 I can see why they do. They represent the passion of many people around the world, including mine. There must be something in the water there! Thank you for your comment.
You can search "ONCE MEKEL" he is a indonesian singer, his voice like Sting.
@@ranggafirdaus389 - Oh, thank you so much. I will do that the next time I visit here.
Possibly the best piece of drumming I have ever heard…. On point genius
Josh Freese, an absolutely amazing drummer 🔥
The drummer is the heart of this song.
This dude rocks, but Stewart Copeland (the original Police drummer) owns this song. I've seen him play it many times live and it is always a performance to behold.
4-piece band with simplicity and complexity all at once... every instrument is played at top level. Including the recording. This should be preserved at the Louvre!
omg the soundguy does absolutely LIT mix
I've been a fan of Sting for over 30 years now- was lucky enough to be to his concert in London - amazing feelings... and he's getting BETTER and BETTER ... I LOVE THE LYRICS and everything...!!!
My guitarist and bass player who could literally play "anything", seasoned pros, struggled with this riff like hell, especially while trying to sing! Props to Sting.
Seasoned pros shouldn't and dont struggle with this with a little practice
This dude looked older in 2008
And sings even better
His bass and his voice is so good it stings my ears...
Playing this on guitar is hard; playing it on bass is absolute carnage for your fingers! Kudos, Sting!
To whoever is listening to this song now, wherever you are.... Sending you love, peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good
He is my angel. His music is beautiful from him like the sun and the moon in beautiful times ... May their voices and guitars continue to sound forever.
Indeed Sting IS a legend he is! This is 1 of the best live versions of "Message..." I've ever heard!👍🎵
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard
I’m an old fan of The Police/Sting from the late 1970s.
I’m noticing that the audience is full of “oldsters,” bec they are clapping, singing, jumping around and NOT standing there recording with their phones!
Although I am now close to retirement AND am an iPhone user, if I had been fortunate enough to attend this performance, I would have been standing, jumping around, clapping and singing along like the rest of the audience, and I have a bad right hip and a bad left knee! I would have been on my feet jumping around, singing and clapping too!
Sting and his Legendary Bass... Still sound great!!!
I like this version,, especially in the last moment when sting sing "Send it Ouuuuutttt........."
Lyrics:
Just a castaway
An island lost at sea
Another lonely day
With no one here but me
More loneliness
Than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle
A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life
But love can break your heart
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle
Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion casatways
Looking for a home
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle
Sending out an SOS

Super,Super,Super
This song touched my soul years ago. My soul today is still inside a bottle
Dominic is such a tasteful guitarist! Love it!
I heard The Police since '79 and this music has always been future music
Yup.
kick-ass raw rock sound, from the one and only master-of-styles!
Alex Mesi is
Not only is the riff amazing, there are actually 2 guitars playing. He still sounds amazing. Great job.
Sir, even past your prime, you're still doing an absolutely wonderful job. I've got nothing but respect for you. I prefer this version over the album one anyday. Long live!!
dude at the drum does a great job
not easy ti fill the shoes of mr copeland
Geert Remans Josh Freese - look him up!! He rules
It's Josh Freeze...the most recorded drummer in the world. He's the badest mofo at any style you can name. Recorded his first album at 15 with Dweezil Zappa and joined the famous punk band the Vandals at 16, and been on more than 400 albums. Most of the bands you like you're hearing him on drums. His discography is incredible.
Josh can play/record any type of music, he is always behind the lights, his output is educational and he is a great person. Still crazy enough to play Vandals and NIN 🤣The best on this planet!! ❤️🤘
@@chadcarrdrumsIsn't Jeff Porcaro the most recorded drummer in the world though? If it was a hit from the late 70s-early 90s, it was most likely Jeff playing on it.
Unless you're talking about nowadays that is, in which case I agree wholeheartedly.
@@christosstamato527 since the 90's Josh is the most recorded drummer in rock.
Sting looks absoutely amazing!!! And what a performance of this song, it's like he's written it for the first time again but this time with a new band. Excellent!
He’s 65 here, he looks absolutely amazing. 🤯even for sting this is beyond.
I love the way he controls the crowds and sings with them.
that's not Art. It is egocentric manipulation and mass ignorance. the mob loves it.
This has been the most beautiful life's concert of Sting who I listened really by satisfaction.
In my opinion Sting is a great as usual.

The opening 20 secs for me is the musical equivalent of the opening bars of The Chain, pure & timeless genius. Every time I hear then I get a chill down the spine. The rest of Message in Bottle isn't too bad either!!
Sting-the best of the best singers! With love from Russia (Yakutsk)😍
Sting just be himself, no matter how old he is, he still powerfull, with this song he prove it 👏👏👏
何故Stingは何時聞いても何歳になって何十年経っても心に響く声に曲なのだろう。
Yes! 🙌 I have loved him since I was a teenager in the late 1970s!
🙌
Such a respected band. These dudes are amazing
this is not a band. it is a biz-ness.
One the most hard working musician in the business! Band sounds amazing. Dominic Miller in guitar, un capo !!!!
Love this song, everyone is always looking for that message in a bottle
Great performance with this group 🎶

Why do a lot of people hate this talented guy! He is awesome! Passionate musician. Go Sting 'em all!
It's because he wasn't very nice back in the police. He is very talented and very clever, though.

Ritmo, energía, gran voz, un interprete súper completo. ¡Mi favorito!
I appreciate Sting so much! His bass playing is just fire!! 🔥🔥
That band is SICK!!!!
Everyone is actually enjoying the performancr rather than having their phones out and recording everything.. Sting really can do wonders
It's very surprising indeed! They are either enjoying the concert or they're simply an intelligent audience! ;-)
At 4:29 you have people with their phone out
That's because everyone in the crowd is +30
@@SuperMrBlaze They know that they can buy the DVD of the concert, which is obviously of better sound and picture quality. That's probably what makes them intelligent. Though taking the odd photo makes for a nice personal souvenir.
I am JAPANESE🇯🇵
I like this song!
I always feel like the guy screaming "MAH LONELYNESS" at 0:30
Now imagine him playing this on the guitar onstage during the Dream of the Blue Turtles tour in 1985. I WAS THERE! LSU Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, LA! His legendary talent is beyond description.
I first saw the Police in 1979 (Southampton Gaumont); 40 years later and I'm still hooked by the 'sound' and Sting's vocals!
The live tone of these guys is something every musician dreams of, they are really good musician, very talented and great knowledge of sounds
despite his year he is still an extraordinary singer
Whoever mixed this.... jeez. Clean.
Absolutely Brilliant Live Performance here......
My favorite.....Message in a bottle.
Por algun extraño motivo, Sting nunca ha dejado de star riquísimo
The best bassist/singer for me!
His voice sounds exactly the same that's just amazing
He sounds more gritty and rough here, which makes it better.
He just sounds older
He sounds different sure, but in a non worse way
Actually better. Less shrill. Voice aging like wine
This sounds better than the original recording. The whole band sounds so incredible and well mixed. Crazy Sting has only ever gotten better at singing over the years too. Voice is still as capable today as in the 80's. Crazy talent here.
Maestro !!
He sounds best at recorded, but much better when live! Only few artists had golden voice. At his age, he wasn't lowers his tone. What a talent, legend!
Always great to see Sting perform Police hits live whenever and wherever he tours! (Faved)
これからも、スティング頑張ってほしいです。サイコー!

lol stfu...okay, maybe, maybe not in this context, Freese is so tasteful, you're nuts to not at least compliment the Freese.
Josh is the best..
@@saintjabroni you're right dude!

Freese is mental. Its more miller on guitar, has no edge, bring all nuanced, song sounds like it could just stop.
