That’s a heck of a set up you’ve got for removing rust, I’m going to head down HTR road. Nice seeing it being disassembled, helps me out immensely. Don’t worry about not talking, I don’t mind, there could be plenty of reasons why you don’t talk, at least there’s none of that on a loop Muzak. Oh, and lay off the grease, keep it well oiled, the oil will lubricate and help wash away swarf, or dry ptfe spray. Thanks for the upload.
I have used the same vice for the past 25 years and it is very good. Would recommend bolting it down to the bench and it becomes a third hand and extremely stable with the back jaw in line with the bench edge to allow long items to be held. As an ex Sheffield lad I used to work about 100 yards from where it was made. Hammerite Blue is not exactly the same as Roundell Blue used by Record but it is a really good substitute. Enjoyed the restoration enormously and very happy to subscribe.
Just a tip- For the sliding pads and rails, don't use grease. It picks up too much dirt/debris. Get a carpenters pencil and scribble all over them. The dry graphite is a great lubricant but won't trap swarf/dirt.
a great pearl in the rust...people still ignore these any buy a new cheap one...these are real and last a lifetime, i rescued a record vice 30 years ago, it was at least 30 years old then, still use it every day
A brilliant restoration all the way through, everything was spot on. Great colour match with the original! I once restored a Record #5 plane and used a spray, it came out Man City blue. A fantastic video and subscribed.
Excellent restoration! I love some of your nifty techniques: e.g. electrolysis and filing masking tape at the corners. From my limited experience, meths is better than white spirit for degreasing - it evaporates faster and probably dissolves more oil fractions - but white spirit must have worked sufficiently for that Hammerite. You are very confident with grinding - those bare hands!
I am ex Sheffield and I have used the same vice for the past 25 years and it has never let me down. The Hammerite Blue is pretty close to Record roundell blue.
I have just bought a used 1 ton. I see you added somevkind of washer on the screw on the outside of the vice. Could you tell me what it is and why you added it? I could see it work to create more clearance for the handle to spin, is that it?
Just gonna say it. That vise is basically brand new. Looks like someone just knocked some of the paint off and sprayed it with vinegar. This wasn't a restoration. It was a paint job.
Hey man, I need some help with mine I got a big no. 5 and she’s beat pretty bad any thoughts that might help I got a small video of it, I ain’t asking for nothing but a bit of help that’s all! Thanks 😀

Thanks man🍺🍺🍺
Great job cleaning it up. Good looking vice for light to medium work.
This vise is in very good shape now very clean and practical I love vintage vises can not go wrong!!! More movies please!! Bye bye shipmate!!!
🍺🍺thanks
It’s rusty, but in pretty good shape when you look at the jaws. Doesn’t look like it was used that much; it just sat. Nice work! Looks good again.

Thanks for advice 🍺🍺🍺
Slide way oil is ideal
Grease on main screw
Well done ,nice sympathetic restoration…very entertaining to watch , thank you .Peter P

Great restoration. I usually use acid to clean heavily rusted tools.
Beautiful restoration. Nice done 👍 Like from me
Very nice 👌 work... Ready for many more years...
Beautiful. Could watch this all day. BUT I have work to do....
The screw heads are not deep enough under the surface of the jaws.
Inside, not all painted.
All in all a job well done.
A brilliant restoration all the way through, everything was spot on.

Awesome mate! I like the way u use enough grease for protection and functionality.
There you go. Good for at least 25 years.

Blue & white, like a Ford tractor! Nice job :)

Hi bro 👋👋👋very good restoration vise 👍👍👍
Excellent work

Nice restoration, greetings from Parral, Chile.
Very well done!
Fantastic job thanks for sharing 🍺🍺👍👍👍👍
thank you
Hello, please, what is the name of the part you used to extract the clamp screws?
what do you mean? about impact driver or jaw plates
You did a. Great job on this vise.
I think you got the lucky straw on that vise. It seems to only looked old, but not horribly pitted like some I have seen.
Good job!
GOD BLESS impact screw drivers!!!!!!! Where were we without them???
we will be to 20 - 30 years behind :))
Nice work
Nicely done, Sir 🍺
I am a big Record tool fan, nice work
Güzel ve başarılı bir çalışma oldu, Tebrikler dostum. 1 ton için biraz küçük bir mengeneye benziyor.
عمل جيد تستحق الايك
What does the"1 ton" stand for? I like that you made a front thrust washer spacer. I subbed because of that
You did a wonderful job.
Looks like it’s not really damaged it just a little rusty so need light cleaning and finishing touch
Nice job 👍🏽
I like record vice. I subscribed your channel
hi bro, what quality are they? buy exactly the same for not very heavy work
It's good quality and I used even for heavy work
Super restoration sir
Thank you
Nice.

hi.you can use cast iron rods for vice or brazing rods
In my opinion, the best vice restoration on UA-cam is the work my-mechanics did on a Gressel Vice. Most thorough vice restoration I have seen
Excelente.
I’ve been hunting for one for years where did you find it ?!
Carboot sale, you can find on ebay
👍👍😎🎄
Can I have it please,I’m all types of broke but great video man!
The clickbate which actually wasn't make me feel it is %-()
Отреставрируй точило у себя, а то со столом ускачет!
Bench grinder is a bit gutless ,
why do so called restorers paint the name in white it looks shit and was never done by the makers...stop doing it
Hello another silent video restoration God doesn’t nobody speak on UA-cam taking tools apart anymore should’ve tried harder at mind reading classes👎🏿
Well a silent video is better than one with awful background muzak in it
The video is quite self explanatory with out commentary really. It ain’t rocket science mate.
It’s not rocket science to talk and explain 👎🏿
