  • When a woman approaches and reaches menopause, it is common for her body to more readily deposit fat in the belly.
    There are hormonal factors at play that are out of her natural control, but that doesn’t mean that she is defenseless.
    In this video, we’ll talk about the important hormonal changes that happen during menopause and the diet tweaks that get rid of belly fat.

    For anyone uncertain and reading the comments... I can say what they say is true for me. I have a long history of losing and gaining weight. After menopause I could not lose weight at all anymore even though I was following the standard advice to the letter (low fat, eat less, move more, eat 6 small meals per day...).
    Then I tried Keto and I have lost 40 pounds - honestly effortlessly once I got past the first few weeks.. I eat one meal a day about 4 days per week and 2 meals the remaining. I haven't felt this good in many years. I don't get hangry. My focus and concentration are phenomenal. I dont have cravings. I literally have no complaints.

    • @f0ts
      @f0ts 3 роки тому +3

      It seems that not eating is the key. One meal a day most of the week also includes lower calories. I guess what people are saying is eating a keto meal once a day is how you lose weight.

    • @olivia8979

      @@f0ts Well... that may be overstating it a bit. I lost a lot of weight on keto just doing keto and didn't worry about fasting. When weight loss started slowing down i started doing one meal a few times per week.
      In my opinion the number one reason keto works is because it balances your hormones - specifically insulin. Everyone is different, but I believe most anyone would lose weight just reducing carbs because it will keep insulin down.
      But like every other diet out there, weight loss does not go in a straight line down. and fasting can be a good way to change things up. If you aren't doing keto yet, just try it for 30 days. You want to try it long enough to get fat adapted so your body can easily burn your stored fat. And see how you like it. See how much weight you lose. See how much inflmation decreases. See how much more energy you have. Notice a lot of aches and pains may go away. Notice if any changes happen to your concentration and focus. If you like all that then keep doing that until or unless you hit a slow down and then try the fasting if you want.
      and by the way, yes, skipping meals will naturally reduce the number of calories you eat which definitely helps. But also it ensures that your insulin stays low for long periods of time. And this would have been the norm for our ancestors who lived more than 100 years ago. They would have almost never had 3 meals and certainly not snacks. It is not really as strange as it might sound. It is how humans were evolved to eat.

      Same! I’m 50. Keto and fasting has been amazing for ALL my health issues. I’m in a weight range I never thought I would see again without being hungry and over exercising. It’s blown me away with fatloss, hunger control, mental health, emotions, you name it and it has improved. It’s a true miracle for me. I thank God often for bringing this solution my way 3.5yrs ago. I can’t imagine eating high carb again. What a trap that was! I’m finally free! Still tweaking and improving watching out for all these hidden ingredients!

      @@f0ts I did keto for about 1 year before I started fasting. I think it's important to be well fat adapted before starting fasting. I lost 25 pounds just doing keto then I just stalled. Tried fasting and most importantly exercising while fasting and it jump started weight loss again. More importantly I felt better than I had in years. I am 66 and have hypothyroid so weight loss and energy are difficult for me!

    At 54, I went through menopause end of last September. Finally. And, having followed DB's low-carb plan for quite a while (a decade?), I've been fine, so far. Still happily hanging in there at 5'8", 125 lbs. and my tummy's looking flatish. No menopausal complications so far except minor warm spells. Hope things don't become/get complicated, hope it stays. The thing that has helped me with that kind of stress was to do this: The night before predict their are going to be ridiculously noisy and chaotic. Then when they do it, say to myself, "Yep, that's what I said." This gives a message to my brain that it is okay to have something in my life that is out of control and in fact, I said so the day before. I was calmer with this.

      I am sure the Docs will reply to you. I'll just say my understanding is that it is a long term thing. It isn't something you do for a couple days and then go back to what you were doing before. But the good news is you will notice the belly fat reduce in weeks. And it may sound unappealing to you right now but I found that once you do it for even a few days you quickly adapt to it. I really cannot even imagine eating breakfast again (I like eggs and bacon so have them for dinner sometimes). A lot of days i only eat one meal. But you don't have to do that. you can start with just slowly increasing the amount of time you don't eat and see what your sweet spot is.

I usually eat at 10:30 am for my first meal...then at 3 for my second and last meal. My window of eating is typically no bigger than 9 to 4...depending on what I have going on. Twice a week I will only eat one meal (OMAD) so that I'm fasting closer to 24 hours. I also allow a day that I relax it a bit typically on the weekend to enjoy the day with my family. Then throw some longer 36 to 48 hour fasts in there when I can.
