I think it’s about scheme. Vikings are not need of a qb and aren’t desperate at most other positions. The broncos might need to consider a tear it down rebuild
I don’t have an issue with taking penix if he is your guy, my issue if I was a falcons fan would be that I would nearly guarantee there will be a qb of pennixs caliber in the coming years.i doubt they will be bad enough to have that high of a pick again over the next 2-3 years
That's kind of the point. They're 100% NOT going to have next year's first on account of tampering. The off-season between year 2 and year 3 is the "break point" of Kirk's contract. So, if they did nothing to 'future proof' the QB room, they'd be left with no choice other than opt in to years 3 & 4 with much harsher cap hits. Trading back with SEA, NO, or LV -- even if they threw in their 2025 1st -- wouldn't be worth the risk of Penix playing like Stroud and being left with pick 23 in what people continue to project as a weaker QB class.
TFG idk how my algorithm took you out of my UA-cam rotation but I had a thought to go back to your channel during this draft madness. I’m probably late but congrats on 100k bro, it’s been a pleasure following you
As a Bears fan it pains me seeing the Falcons draft Penix. I know Ryan Pace is not in charge of the falcons but his influence is understated. They are following the same exact path the Bears did 3 years ago with Justin Fields by starting a veteran (Kirk) over him and playing him when he gets hurt. They took a guy in Penix way too early. I love Penix, I had him as my QB3 but his age and injury history should’ve had him as a 2nd round guy. Falcons should’ve taken Turner, C- grade
Your stream was a lot more entertaining than the actual draft! Pretty sweet setup with the wife and your dogs. Living the dream on draft night with the family
You’re so right on Caleb Williams not getting the same hype as Trevor Lawrence and other “generational” QB prospects. There’s been so much negativity both from within the fan base and outside of it in the media/online due to all the factors you mentioned. I think once Fields was traded, the civil war between fans cooled and most of us came together in support of Caleb. It is fair to have skepticism of how this will turn out because it’s the Bears but Caleb is the real deal and is walking into a great support system for his rookie year. I’ve never been this optimistic as a fan
It's completely disgusting how they talked about Williams. He paints his nails to honor his mother. His father is in his life as well so he has a great foundation based on that alone.
He is not a generational talent, he is a 3rd round prospect who was massively over rated.. I wouldn't have drafted him until the 7th. Where he belonged. He is going to be a massive bust of epic proportion.

13:37 The Chargers fans being upset with this pick is very reminiscent of my time as a Lions fan in 2021. We had a solid O-Line with Taylor Decker being a good OT with a lot of other holes. We took Sewell instead of WR in a deep WR class. The Lions went on to draft Amon-Ra in the same draft R4. There are more than one round and anchoring your line with a Blue Chip talent is always a win in my opinion.
as a falcons fan i was mad about this pick, but im not anymore because i would've been angrier if we didn't go far in the playoffs, kirk retires, and we're right back at qb hell because we were too good to get a pick that high to draft one of the best qb prospects😂
@@matthewmatt5285 its really not tho... you're trying to make sure you're set for the short and long term. this is your best and likely last chance at getting a top qb prospect for a while... a class like this doesn't come that often. with kirk you're not drafting this high again. the vikings just had a problem with trying to trade up to take anthony richardson... why go through those hurdles when you can get your guy now? let him learn from one of the leagues best pocket passers, so you can better the chances of him hitting his ceiling. next years qb class is not like this years and in '26 you wont be drafting that high... are you willing to take that gamble of passing on a franchise caliber qb in a draft class that you might not see again for a while? are you willing to go back into qb purgatory once kirk leaves? i wanted latu but for the sake of the future of this franchise LONGTERM i am not mad at this pick.

Tyler Guyton may be a fourth year player, but he has only played tackle for three seasons ever. He only started playing football his senior year as a defensive end. Got recruited as a TE to TCU strictly because of his insane size and athleticism. He switched to tackle at Oklahoma and yeah he's rough around the edges, but he flashes high end upside and is one of the largest, most athletic lineman to enter the NFL. I'll be honest I was among those that didn't want him prior to the draft, but after a little more research into his background, his character and his game I'm glad to have him and an extra third. As you mentioned the Cowboys are good at developing this type of player. Should've given the grade a bump up for us robbing Detroit in trade value lol.
Because realistically the earliest he could have gone in this draft is 3, and he went 4. They got him 1 pick later so not a crazy steal. But def lucky to have a player like that available at 4 still
Worst Pick in modern NFL History when taking Team, Pick, Spot, Cap, Need, and Roster into account,. This guy is a Panderer just like everyone at ESPN outlets ect ect ect~ They just CAN'T SAY a Pick is 1000% GARBAGE for some Reason,. I guess they all got Jabbed and Can't think for themselves anymore : (
Darius Robinson is an amazing player. I was ecstatic when the pick came in. Not sure what you dont see and his character is the absolute best you can imagine. There were always rumors about Newton falling because of certain reasons and clearly they were true. You cant grade Robinson lower because he wasnt Newton else because NOBODY picked Newton. Dejean clearly is seen as a safety which the nfl does not value at all. The fact we still have a chance for Koolaid, Newton, or another corner is crazy.
I think it's difficult to fully understand how bad the Vikings draft was, mostly because of how much they were expected to give up for a QB. They traded 8 total picks over 3 separate trade ups for McCarthy and Turner. The Turner trade was egregious: they ultimately traded a 2,5,6 this year and 2,3,4 next year. If that trade had been announced on draft night, people would have lost their minds over the value lost. They had no day 2 picks this year, and next year they have a 1 and two 5s. They decided to go all in on JJ McCarthy and one edge rusher in arguably the toughest division in football, where the other three teams are all young and ascending.
Missed your live stream last night as I was otherwise occupied but I binged the vid this morning laughing to myself occasionally using the power of hindsight. Will be there the next two days. Great content man
I always do my own research, make my own boards, and do my own personal draft grades every year just to look back and see how well I do in evaluation and for fun. This year I only gave out one F grade and four D grades, which is the fewest I've ever had. With a few exceptions, I think teams did a really good job in the first round. I think some teams made a few mistakes when it comes to value and not trading down when it would have been smart, but overall great job NFL.
Penix to the Falcons saved all 31 Gm's jobs for the forseeable future,.lol WORST PICK IN THE HISTORY of the NFL regarding Cap, situation, and Roster~ This guy is a Clown and a coward for calling that Pick a C,..lol I cud go on about WHY it's ABOMIDABLE~
Not going to get into it too deep, but giving Washington a C+ and New England a Certified Steal is just too much. I get that you love Maye's physical tools, but this is just overboard. Personally, I think both QBs went to the places that were perfect situations for them.
I'm okay with my Bills trading down (maybe not to the Chiefs) but we now have more options and I still think we can get a good CB or WR. I personally want Cooper Desean as he is an Iowa cold-weather player which has to be thought about in Buffalo. I feel we can possibly get Franklin with our later second-round pick to address WR and again that's another cold weather kid as he played at Oregon.
As a 49ers fan I'm a bit disappointed. Not because I don't like Pearsall. But I would have preferred IOL like Jackson Powers-Johnson or SCB like Cooper Dejean over a WR at 31. Even with the Aiyuk contract situation, I thought IOL and SCB were WAY more pressing needs (since we don't even have a worthy starter at either spot) and those two guys were 1st round caliber, so it wouldn't have been settling or reaching or anything. Keep up the excellent content!
Completely different Player to me,. More of a poor man's Larry Fitzgerald in the way he blocks guys off but still has the agility to make double Moves in the Red Zone~
Another risky pick on another Alabama OT with suspect feet and movement skills just a strange pick. As a Raider fan I can tell you Callahan's history getting OTs drafted in rd1 isn't too great.
I completely agree with you in your eval of Maye over Daniels. Completely agree. You’re way too harsh on your Daniels grade tho. He’s a good player. You discount his rushing ability/production in his grade as a prospect. Lamar isn’t Lamar without his rushing ability being an aspect of his play. I give the commanders a B-
Because no Matter how much a team screws up, somehow the Titans get more hate. Even though the falcons drafted a 24 quarterback that won’t start until their 36 year old quarterback retires or retires mid contract, the Titans apparently screwed up more. It’s dumb
Well the Falcons SAVED EVERY GM's Job for the next 5 yrs,..lol~ SERIOUSLY~,.Never saw Panix in the Top #10 in 5,000 Mock Drafts~ NEVER,.Saved 31 GM's Jobs on ONE PICK~LOL~
Are you factoring in how much the Vikings gave up for Turner? I’m a hawks fan so I have no skin in the game but they basically traded their 2nd 3rd and 4th round picks in 2025 plus a 2nd in 2024 for Turner if you combine the two trades. They’re going to be hurting next year.
@@WillMuny Ok,.MODERN NFL History~ I mean he COULD be Decent but then the Falcons didn't get ANY Position players or O-line in the Top 5 rds and drafts up to get the WRONG DT,.Just a MESS~

Chargers needed a receiver, Joe Alt is a D pick. By far the best o lineman in the draft… but the receiver room is too empty to not take a Nabers or Odunze.
yeah the titans grade was silly, i saw the opposite that you saw, i called latham a blatant bully, normally i'd just say he had a mean streak. he's abnormally nasty at the detriment of his own finesse. but knowing you we will be back here and you will eat defeat about this grade. so its fine lol
I hope that the Bo Nix picks works out for Payton (I didn't think Drew Brees would work all those years ago). That Penix pick seems really bad but if Cousins gets hurt it could save their season(?).
As a Bronco fan, and one that knows the truth about the team, I don't like the Bo Nix pick. This organization is toxic (the same crappy FO and scouts have been there for 6-9 years or so, and they are terrible drafters. Also, Elway may still be controlling the team), and they won't develop him. They will throw him to the wolves with virtually no weapons, and when it doesn't work out, they will blame him and draft another QB in two to three years (or trade for one).
@@jab1289 Actually i'm a Raider fan and very much on top of their roster and while I feel they are a couple of years away still, they will still manage to be a decent team they are not as devoid of talent as a lot of people think.
With the qbs going earlier than expected do u think Spencer rattler and Micheal Pratt draft spots get bumped up to 2nd n 3rd rounders now? And does Minnesota mortgaging picks make it seem like they’re goin all in for now? 3 picks next year
I really like Drake Maye I’m just very nervous about his situation; by far the worst situation out of all of these 6 qbs imo, a completely unproven coaching staff especially offensively, not sure if I buy into the “new” yet old New England culture, and the skill position play is absolutely atrocious, basically just as bad as the panthers last year
Is Caleb capable of learning to play in structure and incorporate the out of structure plays? And is the Bear’s coaching staff capable of instilling that?
As a maye over Daniels guy the more i think about it the more I think the league just doesn’t think maye is good at the things he does better than Daniels. Like he looks to throw but his accuracy on the move is horrid. He throws over the middle but his intermediate accuracy is also bad. With Daniels you know he can run and despite the pressure to sack % Maye actually runs into pressure more. It’s not as egregious as I previously thought.
I just don’t get your Guyton take, they traded down and got what most people had ranked as a mid 20’s player, he’s raw but has incredible intangibles and physical gifts, he’s already farther along in the process than Tyler Smith was coming out, and they got an extra high 3rd for a player they were gonna take anyway, there weren’t a whole lot of better options there.
I've always hated this narrative. How many Cal, Michigan, Purdue, Texas Tech and Tennessee QB's have worked out? When you have the talent you have the talent.

But he's a guy who can sit behind Cousins who's in his mid 30's now and Penix has talent that needs some fine tuning. I understand the pick.
@@DankBirdGang52 Yeah but you could've traded back and took defense we all knew Payton was taking Bo Nix and Minnesota wanted McCarthy on the off chance either takes Penix the other qbs are basically in the same tier. You have the pick of any defensive player and you wasted it on qb you could've got in the early twenties or late teens. They needed more help defensively
I'm in on putting Maye in the Love/Levis bucket of a guy that has awesome tools, great intangibles, but had a rough supporting cast in his last year at college and needs a year (at least) to sit and build up confidence. Hopefully the Pats start Brissett for most of the season and get some weapons for Maye in day 2/3.
dude jc latham had 41 knockdown blocks in 13 games this year. He does like to set out all the time and not anchor on his inside leg causing him to get beat inside some but that’s technical. He predetermines what he’s going to do and you can’t do that. Joe Alt fights to keep a good base JC has that naturally. He didn’t test because he was dealing with a high ankle sprain. 6’6 340 95th percentile hands among o-lineman 35” arms JUST turned 21 dudes a monster with tremendous upside can’t wait to see what Callahan turns him into
not to mention he said he had Latham ranked 6th best Tackle. He lost me completely.
Appreciate that you're willing to give harsh grades and actually make full use of the scale
This is one of the deepest late 1st round-2nd rounds I've ever seen
The NFC North is going to be insanely FUN to watch this year!!
That would be a First~,.lol
This Jayden take aged like milk, Cuz
Little surprised Nix gets a B while JJ McCarthy gets an A, given you had them in the same tier, have had Nix to Denver every mock, and the Vikings even had to expend draft capital to move up for McCarthy. Seems like Nix and McCarthy should be graded at least the same.
One gets to sit and wait a year the other has to be the franchise savior
It was the WORST PICK IN NFL HISTORY regarding Cap, Roster, and Value,.
Just inconceivable~
I think something people need to understand about WR is that unlike lately with the top 10 picks, MOST wrs take 2+ years to develop into pros.
Oh boy cant wait to see what he grades the bills pick!
I'm a Dolphins Fan and the Bills killed it as far as drafting down~
You reference Guyton as a 4 year player but did you know he’s only played tackle for 2 seasons? (Converted DE)
Your stream was a lot more entertaining than the actual draft! Pretty sweet setup with the wife and your dogs. Living the dream on draft night with the family
So kind, thank you!!
@@narutotheassasin6480 You don't a goddamn thing of what you speak of. Just typing for no reason. Nothing says 7th round at all. Stop talking before you look more stupid.
Trust me football fans in America know how talented Caleb is unfortunately for Caleb Jayden Daniels is a gonna be an absolute monster and have a better career
Tyler Guyton was a TE for 2 years before moving to tackle
Ok but he's still a very raw player when other similar tackles were mid to late 2nd roundera
Jayden Daniels to the commanders was guaranteed as soon as they hired kliff Kingsbury. He is more pro ready to play than Maye and is a monster runner. JD got a very high ceiling and a higher floor than Maye.
I think Maye is a better prospect than Daniels but I also think Daniel would work out better in Washington than Maye would
Makes no sense

As a titans fan who finds it completely normal when they cut to commercial right as we draft someone can't help but enjoy the irony of UA-cam going to commercial when it gets to you talking about our pick lol
The Penix pick is a fine pick, he's a good player. The process behind the pick makes my head hurt. And the Falcons had him as QB2? Insanity
He's Garbage,.The Falcons won't get 50 more sacks for 3 yrs~lol~
13:37 The Chargers fans being upset with this pick is very reminiscent of my time as a Lions fan in 2021. We had a solid O-Line with Taylor Decker being a good OT with a lot of other holes. We took Sewell instead of WR in a deep WR class. The Lions went on to draft Amon-Ra in the same draft R4. There are more than one round and anchoring your line with a Blue Chip talent is always a win in my opinion.
Exactly, and people spoke too soon since they got Ladd McConkey 2nd round.
It's a hell of a lot harder to find OTs outside the top 10-12 picks every year good WRs get drafted past the 1st round.
as a falcons fan i was mad about this pick, but im not anymore because i would've been angrier if we didn't go far in the playoffs, kirk retires, and we're right back at qb hell because we were too good to get a pick that high to draft one of the best qb prospects😂
You should STILL BE MADD,..
It was the WORST PICK in Modern NFL history~
I LIVE in Atlanta~
@@matthewmatt5285 its really not tho... you're trying to make sure you're set for the short and long term. this is your best and likely last chance at getting a top qb prospect for a while... a class like this doesn't come that often. with kirk you're not drafting this high again. the vikings just had a problem with trying to trade up to take anthony richardson... why go through those hurdles when you can get your guy now? let him learn from one of the leagues best pocket passers, so you can better the chances of him hitting his ceiling. next years qb class is not like this years and in '26 you wont be drafting that high... are you willing to take that gamble of passing on a franchise caliber qb in a draft class that you might not see again for a while? are you willing to go back into qb purgatory once kirk leaves? i wanted latu but for the sake of the future of this franchise LONGTERM i am not mad at this pick.
terry watched the saints not be able to take mahomes, raheem has gone through horrible qb play during his tenure with the bucs... i think they know what they're doing here. they said themselves they want to turn this franchise into a sustained winner. not a temporary winner for 2-4 years but a SUSTAINED winner. they both have seen what winning at the highest level looks like. it may look stupid now but it can end up paying dividends in the future

Love the hard work around draft season. Can’t wait for the deep dives!
How is Harrison not a Certified Steal. If he’s the best WR you’ve seen in 7 years and the cardinals get him at 4. Seems like a certified steal to me.
just based on how the draft was projected to go before hand
Probably bc in his position based board MHJ was 2 so only 2 spots is not a big deal. Or at least a steal.
He was the first non QB selected, there was nowhere to steal him from
Because realistically the earliest he could have gone in this draft is 3, and he went 4. They got him 1 pick later so not a crazy steal. But def lucky to have a player like that available at 4 still
@@luker20tbf the Bears got a certified steal grade with Caleb. Now thats more so because they shouldnt of had the #1 pick but.
That falcons grade is crazy high I can’t lie. Complete blown opportunity cost
Worst Pick in modern NFL History when taking Team, Pick, Spot, Cap, Need, and Roster into account,.
This guy is a Panderer just like everyone at ESPN outlets ect ect ect~
They just CAN'T SAY a Pick is 1000% GARBAGE for some Reason,.
I feel like I’m the only chargers fan that thinks Alt was the best pick we could’ve made
I think it's difficult to fully understand how bad the Vikings draft was, mostly because of how much they were expected to give up for a QB.
Keep in mind Ryan pace who signed mike glennon then drafted Mitch trubisky in the same offseason for the bears is a part of the falcons organization.
Missed your live stream last night as I was otherwise occupied but I binged the vid this morning laughing to myself occasionally using the power of hindsight. Will be there the next two days. Great content man
Penix and Ricky pearsall were confusing
Penix was a #25 pick at BEST with his injury and 6 yr playing history,.Beat up and won't get to play,.Stagnation is a horrible thing for him~
I always do my own research, make my own boards, and do my own personal draft grades every year just to look back and see how well I do in evaluation and for fun. This year I only gave out one F grade and four D grades, which is the fewest I've ever had. With a few exceptions, I think teams did a really good job in the first round. I think some teams made a few mistakes when it comes to value and not trading down when it would have been smart, but overall great job NFL.

WORST PICK IN THE HISTORY of the NFL regarding Cap, situation, and Roster~
This guy is a Clown and a coward for calling that Pick a C,..lol
I cud go on about WHY it's ABOMIDABLE~
Not going to get into it too deep, but giving Washington a C+ and New England a Certified Steal is just too much. I get that you love Maye's physical tools, but this is just overboard. Personally, I think both QBs went to the places that were perfect situations for them.
Who do you think should move to RT? Slater or Alt
That intro is so facts
Great vid man, love the analysis
Best nfl channel out there
Starting the video complaining about people giving out too many As and then giving out mostly As was incredible. Great video as always
Kwessii coooked. Called the Bluffs
Hearing that the Vikings were willing to give up 3 first round picks for the number three spot puts a HUGE amount of pressure on Maye to perform.
In two years Michael Penix will have his AARP card
He's 24 and Cousins is 36. Gimme a break 🤣

Despite being a Packer fan, I feel this was a very unbiased and well thought out analogy of the picks. Great work!
Bill Callahan had Jc as his OT1 so that’s why they didn’t want to trade off of it
Another risky pick on another Alabama OT with suspect feet and movement skills just a strange pick.
I give the commanders a B-
So I’m overall drafts, where would you rank this for the best as in teams making very impactful picks?
I don't love the JC Latham pick either but I don't see how it can be graded worse than the Penix pick.
Because no Matter how much a team screws up, somehow the Titans get more hate. Even though the falcons drafted a 24 quarterback that won’t start until their 36 year old quarterback retires or retires mid contract, the Titans apparently screwed up more. It’s dumb

Granted I had Bo Nix, McCarthy and Penix in a different order with Penix last. I do feel they were all in Tier 2. I love the Penix pick. I am not a fan of the Kirk Cousins acquisition.
Chargers needed a receiver, Joe Alt is a D pick. By far the best o lineman in the draft… but the receiver room is too empty to not take a Nabers or Odunze.
@12:40 As a Charger Fan, I apologize.

More likely, Deebo is traded rather than Aiyuk. If not for this season, then next.
yeah the titans grade was silly, i saw the opposite that you saw, i called latham a blatant bully, normally i'd just say he had a mean streak. he's abnormally nasty at the detriment of his own finesse. but knowing you we will be back here and you will eat defeat about this grade. so its fine lol
I hope so I was terrified the Raiders were going to draft another Bama OT with questionable feet and movement skills.
@@jab1289 Ironically their draft outside Nix was solid and as a Raider fan I won't count out Nix I didn't love him but the pick makes sense.

A quick reminder that the Vikings are more than likely getting 2 3rd comp picks in next year's draft for losing Kirk & Hunter to FA.
I really like Drake Maye I’m just very nervous about his situation; by far the worst situation out of all of these 6 qbs imo, a completely unproven coaching staff especially offensively, not sure if I buy into the “new” yet old New England culture, and the skill position play is absolutely atrocious, basically just as bad as the panthers last year
the picks themselves were good but i think the vikings gave up wayyy too much just to move up 6 spots for turner
Is Caleb capable of learning to play in structure and incorporate the out of structure plays? And is the Bear’s coaching staff capable of instilling that?
He’s always been capable of working in structure he’s just a wild card and they need to reel that in
Yes, and probably not
As a maye over Daniels guy the more i think about it the more I think the league just doesn’t think maye is good at the things he does better than Daniels. Like he looks to throw but his accuracy on the move is horrid. He throws over the middle but his intermediate accuracy is also bad. With Daniels you know he can run and despite the pressure to sack % Maye actually runs into pressure more. It’s not as egregious as I previously thought.
can’t wait for tonight some great players on the board
I just don’t get your Guyton take, they traded down and got what most people had ranked as a mid 20’s player, he’s raw but has incredible intangibles and physical gifts, he’s already farther along in the process than Tyler Smith was coming out, and they got an extra high 3rd for a player they were gonna take anyway, there weren’t a whole lot of better options there.
