Laios being the classic Male Human Warrior , the most basic of RPG archetypes, and at the same time being the strangest and most bizarre one of the group never ceases to be funny. 😂😂😂
12:18 - I think the reason why Laios suggested to eat the Griffen was that he 100% believed Sensei didn't eat the forbidden soup. XD He was so adamant about it that when the soup was wrong, he was the first to think of an alternative version.
Not just Laios, but his sister Falin also appears autism coded. Especially in the flashback scene of her showing Marcille the cave on the magic school grounds.
One: Laios is definitely the definition of autism coded. As an autistic person myself (late diagnosed) if I was Laios, I would try every monster that is considered edible as I am scenery seeking when it comes to food Two: Senshi is the best character. Both because of his personality, his love for cooking and VA Three: I've played DnD and I have a chef character long before this anime was announced and he's an evocation wizard named Wally. He makes sure there's enough supplies to last the trip and can sometimes get over his head when he sees a kitchen. He owns a restaurant with his partner (crush) and he's favourite things to experiment with are monsters that his party defeats in battle. And yes, whenever people want food, they go "where's Wally" and when we are in battle, the DM says "Wall-E" in a robotic tone as a joke. Hope you read this and got a good insight or laugh out of it 😁 And Bizarre Foods? That's me
When I saw/read how Laios is Autistic, I noticed how his mannerisms and other stuff is. As someone with Autism, specifically Asperger's, I related to Laios a lot. He has his own special interests and how great he is at it. It felt so great seeing Autistic representation like that in anime.
As another autism coded person, I was quite surprised when I heard that Laios and his sister might be the same. Maybe its because I'm very self conscious about social cues, but a lot of their characteristics come off as 'normal' to me. Whenever I get into a topic, especially one I think is practical to me, I try to learn everything I can about it and ignore or forgot any discouragement from others.
I would love to see a crossover with Sanji from One piece and Senshi have a cooking contest with Luffy and Marcille as the judges. Great video Robin, I hope you and everyone at Anime America a very Merry Christmas.🎄🎁
I'm on the Autistic Spectrum myself, and Laios does hit the criteria, such as lack of awareness of social cues, hyperfixation on one subject to the point of being an expert, and maybe some form of stims though that varies from one Autistic person. And truthfully he does make a relatable character. Plus, he's precious and I love him Anyway, if I'm low on funds and my food supply is low, I might have to out of necessity. And to satiate my curiosity. Plus with Senshi's cooking skills and Laios' observations, I would try to document them. Since the monster book was in a desperate need for an update.
Found out that my favorite cartoon voice actor, Corey Burton, got on Delicious in Dungeon.....he plays Tansu Floke. Now that's one of my favorite characters besides Izutsumi (because she reminds me of a human cat hybird of my cat, Jubei) and Elf Senshi 😂😂😂😂 Edit: I also wish that Alice 19th would become an anime. Also Hatsukoi Zombie, The Hunters Guild: Red Hood, Bone Collection, Nurse Hitomi's Monster Infirmary, Mononoke Sharing, Gal Gohan, Oumagadoki Zoo, Otaku Vampire's Love Bite, Karakuri Odette, The Knight Cartoonist and Her Orc Editor, Call Girl in Another World, Ai Kora, and Machimaho Edit 2: I wonder if the abbreviations of Delicious in Dungeon is "DnD" IDK Edit 3: my cat, Jubei acts just like Izutsumi....especially the fact that she is picky as hell, she'll only eat Meow Mix brand cat food not any other brand. She is a black cat but has a white stomach and white paws, she is also crazy as hell.
As someone on the autism spectrum, allow me to say that I can believe Laios is autistic in a fantasy, also thanks for including my suggestion from Muppet Treasure Island
I do not appreciate the Interspecies Reviewers slander. It's certainly not for everyone, but for the people it Does appeal too, it's peak. And it's not Redo of healer level outside of that either.
They're keeping really accurate to you know medieval items like mandrakes. They actually did use the actual method in which you were supposed to harvest them in the anime here as well as in real life.
As someone with autism, I hadn’t noticed the similarities when I watched the show, but hearing it laid out, it definitely fits. Specifically, he sounds like he’s in the Asperger’s Syndrome type of autism. It’s most often referred to as “high functioning autism” since those who have it can perform and live as members of normal society despite the condition. It’s the same type of autism I have and I regularly drive, pay my own bills, work two jobs, and more that people are often surprised to hear I can do when they learn I’m autistic. I’ve even been to and graduated from college. That said, to most people who don’t know about my autism, I tend to come off as a massive nerd about stuff I like and relate almost everything back to my hobbies in some way while not caring about the social norms. Louse definitely shows all the signs of Asperger’s Syndrome, even down to seeing the bonds the person has with others as one of their most valuable possessions that they will do almost anything to hold onto, especially when it comes to their family.
Someone tell Robin there a D&D monster hunter table top game where you gain powers by eating the monsters you hunt. You also fight using cooking equipment. There a picture of someone with cooking mits to punch.
Glad I was able to help out with Robyn about the key possibility fact as an Autism lass myself And for those who have it like me, just a nice reminder that as Tom Kenny said before about Spongebob: It's a Superpower
9:18 I actually made a chef character for my very first campaign. My character was a Kashrishi (a rhino-man), an earth kineticist (earthbender) with a particular emphasis on manipulating salt, and a traveling chef. I’d make meals for my party (it helped that one of the members was a hunter who could find some good meat), I started a miniature garden with another member, and the DM added in a couple scenarios with cooking competitions. Overall, if you can think up mechanics for the cooking (as well as gathering), making a chef character is totally plausible.
9:21 in Miitopia 😂 along with a Popstar, a Flower, and a literal TANK! Edit: This anime does the thing where every character is very fun to watch and be interested in the characters and not be “The protagonist”, “The friend”, “The hot one”, and “The nerd”. When you see the characters on screen you can say oh yay it’s Chillchuk and not omg Chillchuk. Also yes I would eat monster food.
I never realized that Laois is depicted as autism coded (to which I learned it today) and as an autism myself, well, is hard to explain but I think I may see it. I never realized that young Senshi does look a bit like Steven. How did I not noticed it before? And, yup, I did watched People vs Food. As for the question: it’ll be a yes. If you’re in a dungeon and in its lowest parts, if you ran out of food you know you have no choice but to eat whatever that is alive. And especially if you know if monsters are edible and know of methods to cook them. Another thing, it cost money to buy rations depending on how long you’re gonna explore and carefully preserve them, also the more ration you got the more you have to carry which would put additional weight that slows you and monsters may come after you for your food. Anything good thing about cooking in a dungeon; is mental help, you received a delicious and warm meal after exploring and fighting hard all day. If there are dishes I wanted to try from that anime, they will be: the treasure insect jam, the exorcism sorbet, the omelette, the tart, and dumplings. And Merry Christmas Robyn, hopefully you and your loved ones will enjoy a hearty feast (made from monsters 😜)
I'm autistic and I consider him autistic, the scene where he fights Shuro is VERY relatable. Also I love this series, its one of my favorites, can't wait to see the ending get animated.
This channel still exists?!? Damn. When I was a wee little boy who probably shouldn’t have been watching videos unattended. I came across this channel and it snowballed me into being a much bigger anime fan. Also gave me an undying hatred for Sword Art Online, I was a parrot. Glad to see you’re still doing this.
About Laios being autism-coded, I would definitely like to highlight "Intentionally or not." There was an actual interview with an author who was asled about this, and she never meant it to be taken that way.
17:14-Speaking of which. Lots of other anime, shows and video games has had voice actors in a Bang Zoom/Ocean Group/Funimation cast. Examples 1. Fred Tatascoire in Naruto Shippuden which consists mostly of Bang Zoom Voice Actors. 13. Both Quinton Flynn, Michael Bell and Debi Mae West in Warcraft 3 which consists mostly of Bang Zoom Voice Actors.
i was really excited for this series because i am that player at the D&D table asking "can i eat it?" when we kill a monster and its just sitting there dead. any character can be a chef if you flavor it enough
On the subject of Laios...I honestly think it's more of a coping mechanism. His sister essentially sacrificed herself to save everyone else of their party, they all have died before, and their home life wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows. Granted I'm also not an expert and I'm going off the interviews with the creator, who claims this is more based off of old school rpgs in this but still.
what's funny is that I'm going to take part in a d&d game next year. my character is three kobolds dressed as a single traveling chef because the kobold at the top of the tower wants to be a chef, the second wants to hit things with a frying pan and the third is just bored.
I just started watching this show, and was finding it very enjoyable.... then I got to episode 12..... WOW! That got Really Really Dark, Really Really Fast!
I got dragged into this series, and it was a genuinely pleasant time, but also an interesting one. It's not just a silly food anime, there's real substance to it.
8:42 how many of you want robyn to tell some of the stories from her dnd campaigns? I personally think it could be interesting to hear, but don't mind if she focuses on other stuff instead.
Speaking as some on the spectrum, Laios helps with feeling "seen" in a sense. There are other stories i could point at characters and say, "just like me fr fr," but DM/DinD is a perfect example of "this is what i have." i don't like expressing it as fixation or interest, and i understand high-functioning is a defunct term. passion or hobby are closer to how i would explain, but it gets confusing how so many generally DON'T share this experience? emotion?? possibly hits harder cause i'm borderline ace (i really hope i'm using the right term) but... LOVE is too strong a word to use, but LIKE doesn't do justice. i see thing. thing is cool. i learn more about thing. i am invested. i look up where i can view more variations of thing or other things that are similar. everyone looks at me weird and knows no thing. bordering on cosmic horror, but realistically just a different "wavelength" i guess??? dramatic reenactment of an example. thank you very much for this video!! happy holidays.
9:15 … Maybe homebrew a version of Ignis from FFXV? Though I’d imagine someone may of done it, & tossed in Quinna from FFIX during the campaign to exasperate, &/or strain ingredient supplies. Btw, the montage at the end had me in stitches. Thank you so much. ✨🎄✨
This anime is my guilty pleasure I like how this series challenges the social norms isekai by doing the complete opposite I thought about eating monsters.
First of all, love the fact that Robin is a Fools Gold fan. Second, You kidding, of course I would eat a monster! It's like eating hunted meat, but on much grander scale. Thirdly, there are PLEANTY of chef kinds of homebrew sub-classes you can find around on the internet(Would personally reomend Benjimin Huffman's Scholar and it's Chef sub-class, or Steve Conley knewly made Nibblemancy Wizard(both go in very diffrent directions)) Lastly, 8:30...Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time....please? Maybe just one? EDIT: As someone one the spectrum...yeah, if you told me Laios was autistc I would actually belive you. The guy fits it pretty well with out going too overboard like what Hollywood tends to do while still making sense for the anime. It's well done 👍
Oh come on, you could've at least mentioned german dubbed Marcille! However I think Marcille in any language is freaking amazing, Merry Christmas Anime America!
I could’ve sworn Alice 19th had an anime. I swear I thought it had one, guess I was wrong. Side note, if you like Delicious in Dungeon, Rising of the Shield Hero, and the like, check out Goblin Slayer. Thank me later.
That section about autistic characters got me thinking about Zagan from the archdemon's dilemma, he also has autistic traits that I identify with and that's probably why I enjoyed his anime instead of skipping this one (what can I say I have weird tastes)
I made a Swamp Witch Dwarf chef years ago for 3.5e dnd campaign. I had to invest in Charisma to convince my party to try my cooking. Giant Spider legs? Nah, that's boiled cave crab legs.
I love this anime!!! Even though it's a rescue mission it's really nice to see exploratory ways in cooking. I also like that one anime called campfire cooking in another world.
I might eat a monster...I mean, my current D&D character has 8 int and would solve a problem with biting if he could. Also, there's a chef feat that lets you make snacks for your party now. If you wanted, that'd be a good thing to grab for your cooking character.
Delicious in Dungeon is such a great anime. I admit I also was thrown off a bit by Lious’s behavior. Just took it as a comedic quirk of his. But everyone really grew on me. Especially Marcel.
If Senshi cooked up a Scorpion Hot Pot or ANYTHING Me Makes In Dungeon Meshi, I'd eat it in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, When they cooked up those Dragons steaks, I had to resist the urge to Lick my computer screen! Those Dragon Steaks Looked SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good :3
You know ProZD was Cat Viper in One Piece, right? Damien is actually on the spectrum, so his performance as Laios is perfect! Also, did you not recognize Chilchuck? I'll give you a hint. GET IN THE EVA! Totally reminds me of when I used to play World of Warcraft. I was not good but always provided food for the party. Never played D&D but I imagine I'd be a druid who could manipulate plants to feed the party! Happy Holidays
If you’re interested in a cooking character for D&D I recommend checking out YMBA’s channel. He has one character out called the Shuggermancer, which is all about healing with baked goods and other magical baking.
Laios being the classic Male Human Warrior , the most basic of RPG archetypes, and at the same time being the strangest and most bizarre one of the group never ceases to be funny. 😂😂😂
Like the great Hugh Mann Fai'tare?
12:18 - I think the reason why Laios suggested to eat the Griffen was that he 100% believed Sensei didn't eat the forbidden soup. XD

Sanji would win but at least sendshi would learn haki as an upside
I am so glad someone thought the same idea of a crossover between this anime and One Piece!
I'm on the Autistic Spectrum myself, and Laios does hit the criteria, such as lack of awareness of social cues, hyperfixation on one subject to the point of being an expert, and maybe some form of stims though that varies from one Autistic person.
And truthfully he does make a relatable character. Plus, he's precious and I love him

"Because Trigger! Ooohhhh that makes sense"
"No it doesnt"
"No it doesnt"
Who all here now wants to hear personal D&D tales from Robyn?? I need this in my life!
I was just thinking the same thing
@@BrandonSwinney-j2v ✋i second that. been a fan of hers since sm crystal reviews & back when she had more co-hosts.
Fun Fact: Dungeon Meshi can mean one of two things when translated into English from Japanese:
1.) Dungeon Food
2.) Dungeon Meal
Either way, both Translations work :3 Both are fitting.
I love they made the title like DND tho 😂😂
Found out that my favorite cartoon voice actor, Corey Burton, got on Delicious in Dungeon.....he plays Tansu Floke. Now that's one of my favorite characters besides Izutsumi (because she reminds me of a human cat hybird of my cat, Jubei) and Elf Senshi 😂😂😂😂

Edit 2: I wonder if the abbreviations of Delicious in Dungeon is "DnD" IDK
Edit 3: my cat, Jubei acts just like Izutsumi....especially the fact that she is picky as hell, she'll only eat Meow Mix brand cat food not any other brand. She is a black cat but has a white stomach and white paws, she is also crazy as hell.
As someone on the autism spectrum, allow me to say that I can believe Laios is autistic in a fantasy, also thanks for including my suggestion from Muppet Treasure Island
Imagine an interaction between Laios, Soma from Food Wars, and Peppino from Pizza Tower
I do not appreciate the Interspecies Reviewers slander. It's certainly not for everyone, but for the people it Does appeal too, it's peak. And it's not Redo of healer level outside of that either.
I remember when Robin got excited about that Fushigi Yugi series. Rainbows flying out her mouth and everything. 😅
Honest to goodness, there's an actual D&D cookbook. Wouldn't say any of the recipes contained are featured in this anime, but you never know.
They're keeping really accurate to you know medieval items like mandrakes. They actually did use the actual method in which you were supposed to harvest them in the anime here as well as in real life.
Laios has two modes: decent leader and Himbo.
OH BOY! I hope you’ll bring up _Restaurant to Another World_ (異世界食堂) (Isekai Shokudō) ! ! !
My brother once had a lizardman chef whose life goal was to taste EVERYTHING!
This show has made him miss that character! :p
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this anime and Laios easily went to my top 15 anime characters list!
I’m so excited 😆! I just began watching Delicious In Dungeon ❤️
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ROBYN! 🎄🎄🎄❤️❤️❤️❤️
As someone with autism, I hadn’t noticed the similarities when I watched the show, but hearing it laid out, it definitely fits. Someone tell Robin there a D&D monster hunter table top game where you gain powers by eating the monsters you hunt. You also fight using cooking equipment. There a picture of someone with cooking mits to punch.
Glad I was able to help out with Robyn about the key possibility fact as an Autism lass myself
And for those who have it like me, just a nice reminder that as Tom Kenny said before about Spongebob: It's a Superpower
I have AuDHD so thanks!!
Chefs kiss (Maybe a bit on the nose but can’t help it lol) and thanks again for including one of our ideas 😊❤
I have a friend who we split time between cooking shows and anime, and met over an RPG table. So we love watching this show.
Huh, I was today years old when I found out that they managed to get Corey Burton in an anime dub!
I know right, I fangirled so hard on that.
Love it that you still make reviews ❤
missed you guys and i LOVE the new video!!!
And Merry Christmas Robyn, hopefully you and your loved ones will enjoy a hearty feast (made from monsters 😜)
19:19 I cannot stop losing my mind over this meme. The song is too perfect!
So basically this show is about going into a dungeon and eating monsters that's terrific
I LOVE this series!
As a D&D lover and food lover, this anime meshes both those elements in a perfect buffet
I'm autistic and I consider him autistic, the scene where he fights Shuro is VERY relatable. Also I love this series, its one of my favorites, can't wait to see the ending get animated.

9:55 - This reaction is all too perfectly accurate.
0:40 REJECT CHICKEN EAT SALMON!!!
1:37 Also thanks for 40 years Transformers!
THANKS FOR COVERING IT! THIS IS SO GOOD! As a foodie it was great 🍕🍖🍗🍗🍗🍔🌯🌯🍖🌯🍕
About Laios being autism-coded, I would definitely like to highlight "Intentionally or not."
There was an actual interview with an author who was asled about this, and she never meant it to be taken that way.
I would love to eat dragon. That southpark bit was gold
Oh you sweet summer child robin doesn't know.
lol I was at the bookstore recently and they put a description card with “The great British Bake off meets your most chaotic D&D session ever”
Would I eat monsters? Especially if Senshi cooked them?
Yes. Yes I would.
Hell, I'd help the guy cook them. Maybe even experiment with a few recipes.
Amazing video Robyn from anime America on Netflix delicious in dungeon review, fantastic job. Merry Christmas too.
Robyn thank you for the awesome video. I appreciate your hard work

I just adore Marcel!e's WTF face she gives to Laios
18:05 - Have you considered looking into the Waifu Handbook? Has chef mechanics for DnD 5e, PF 1e, and PF 2e. :P
Love the JoCat dingo doodles and Jaiden refs there

The best part of Delicious in Dungeon is the Senshi panty shots and you can't convince me otherwise

Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings to you, Robyn! 🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄🎁🎅🏻⭐️❤️💚
Easily the best anime I've seen recently :)
OK, now I want a story time about Robin’s water deep campaign.
Senshi deserves his own 5* restaurant. I will always eat Senshi’s cooking no matter the monster
I got dragged into this series, and it was a genuinely pleasant time, but also an interesting one. It's not just a silly food anime, there's real substance to it.
Late Thanksgiving always makes Christmas a rush. But food is good I love a good spread.
Fun fact, this series has a season 2 in the works though it's still TBA when it's going to air.
Delicious in dungeon, eat! you need to eat to live!
i would absolutely eat anything (almost) that sensei made that anime made me hungry
8:42 how many of you want robyn to tell some of the stories from her dnd campaigns? I personally think it could be interesting to hear, but don't mind if she focuses on other stuff instead.

i see thing. thing is cool. i learn more about thing. i am invested. i look up where i can view more variations of thing or other things that are similar. everyone looks at me weird and knows no thing.
bordering on cosmic horror, but realistically just a different "wavelength" i guess??? dramatic reenactment of an example.
thank you very much for this video!! happy holidays.
I ate shock lizards once. The taste was shockingly good.
Senshi is my favorite
This anime is my guilty pleasure I like how this series challenges the social norms isekai by doing the complete opposite I thought about eating monsters.
First of all, love the fact that Robin is a Fools Gold fan.
Second, You kidding, of course I would eat a monster! It's like eating hunted meat, but on much grander scale.
Thirdly, there are PLEANTY of chef kinds of homebrew sub-classes you can find around on the internet(Would personally reomend Benjimin Huffman's Scholar and it's Chef sub-class, or Steve Conley knewly made Nibblemancy Wizard(both go in very diffrent directions))
Lastly, 8:30...Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time, Story time....please? Maybe just one?
EDIT: As someone one the spectrum...yeah, if you told me Laios was autistc I would actually belive you. The guy fits it pretty well with out going too overboard like what Hollywood tends to do while still making sense for the anime. It's well done 👍
Oh come on, you could've at least mentioned german dubbed Marcille! However I think Marcille in any language is freaking amazing, Merry Christmas Anime America!
4:38 right after this line, a Chewy ad played for me, and the 1st word of the ad was "Pets." 😢
I want to kiss Laios on the mouth and hear him talk about monsters for hours
Take a shot every time Robin calls Laios Laos 😩😂
Thank you for the video.
I made a Swamp Witch Dwarf chef years ago for 3.5e dnd campaign. I had to invest in Charisma to convince my party to try my cooking. Giant Spider legs? Nah, that's boiled cave crab legs.
Chef=Artificers, you can multi class into ranger for favored enemy and adding beasts and plants.
I would love for Anime America to Review "Puniru is a Cute Slime"
I love this anime!!! Even though it's a rescue mission it's really nice to see exploratory ways in cooking. I also like that one anime called campfire cooking in another world.
"Did someone challenge time to a speed run?"
Yeah. Adam Sandler's character in Click.
I think we'd all eat monsters if Senshi was the one cooking. I mean, by gosh, he's a master.
I might eat a monster...I mean, my current D&D character has 8 int and would solve a problem with biting if he could.
Also, there's a chef feat that lets you make snacks for your party now. If you wanted, that'd be a good thing to grab for your cooking character.
i definitely want that hot pot.
Kentucky fried cockatrice sounds awesome too
Delicious in Dungeon is such a great anime. I admit I also was thrown off a bit by Lious’s behavior. Just took it as a comedic quirk of his. But everyone really grew on me. Especially Marcel.
This is an awesome anime!
Merry Christmas to you!
A robyn party is a proper dungeon
Bard: [Psrformance: Teppanyaki] gets +1 when opponents are on a table in front of them.
[Dual Weild] + [cleavers]
Every time i played D&D the DM would have a Dragon attack me next thing i'm a protein bar for the dragon to munch on
If Senshi cooked up a Scorpion Hot Pot or ANYTHING Me Makes In Dungeon Meshi, I'd eat it in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, When they cooked up those Dragons steaks, I had to resist the urge to Lick my computer screen! Those Dragon Steaks Looked SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good :3
9:23 Chef Origin Feat + Artificer Alchemist+ Spice Bag Common Magical Item.
Him being on the spectrum Would explain why I liked him so much
You know ProZD was Cat Viper in One Piece, right?
