    Chris, holy crap watching you lay down your colors and adjusting them to have everything fall into place is such a pleasure to watch. I still have some trouble mixing my colors to exactly what I want, so its healthy being able to see the process of a portrait and see you ideate, lay down values and adjust them.
    Very good stuff! Thank you so much for your incredible channel.

    I was just painting one yesterday that turned out pretty decent! The colors weren’t exactly right but it did look more childlike instead of teenage like the others I’ve done. It’s so tricky to keep it looking young

    I love watching many different oil painters. Ome say to start with just the datkest and workig from there, others i see paint specifically in an area, in a sense "finishing" the oart and working like that. With you its everyones in and work from there. I lobe this, firat time viewing^-^ thanknyou!

    Thanks so much for the clear and on the spot explanation. Children portraits are a huge challenge for me. The skin color is sooo white, no eyebrows, one eye green, one eye blue. A lot to pay attention to. Thanks to your videos I’m learning to be extra patient and plan ahead. Great advice Chris. You are awesome! Blessings and take care.

    Ha! Perfect timing Chris, thank you. I am just painting a toddler and had to tone it down for that very reason. She is dark skinned and I seem to paint dark skin lighter for some reason and lose the impact. Love your work, you just seem to have improved out of sight over the last year, Well done! Hi Chris, I have done my first oil painting, was happy with it at first but now a few weeks have passed and it has turned yellow ! Well the whites are yellow and all the other colors have changed with yellow, the blues are green... seems like it is due to the oil in the oil paints?

    can i ask what pallet knife you use, ive tried a bunch even the expensive ones, their either way to hard to actualy bend or dont scrape the paint proper ive been watching a bunch of youtubers who make it look effortless, is it me or is my pallete knife to blame, i cant seem to find the right one even tried plastic ones and their no good either, would be a massive help if you could guide me to the right direction as im losing way to much paint on the pallete and my mixing is getting out of control

    as i’m trying to learn to paint…sometimes i have long periods between each painting often happen to me..
    because i don’t really feel inspired..or i have to be in the “mood” to paint.
    I haven’t painted any great ones …but my best ones come from some type of deep emotion that may i may being feeling at that time in my personal life and connecting with that to express something.
    …but I really can’t get inspired otherwise…where do you get your inspiration? ❓

    • @paintcoach
      @paintcoach  3 роки тому +3

      I find inspiration by painting. You should never rely on inspiration to get you to do something. It’s the other way around. The act of doing something will get you inspired. I highly recommend you read the book The War of Art. It talks about all of this

    I like how you did the cow, but the bckgrnd do look flat. There is a simple trick to that. What is on the back is thin, on the front - thick. On the back - more loose, on the front - more detailed. But I guess you know all that, it is possibly to illustrate more accurate for beginners. But still. It is fun to paint thin and loose. Just tell them. :)

    When those paintings from the old ages have baby faces that look like grown men....I always wondered if they did that on purpose or they just couldn't paint the baby face. (which is strange imo that they could not paint baby faces. )I really think they did it on purpose.
