The identity of the game has changed a lot since launch and it always feels like the game doesn’t know what it wants to be or who it wants to cater to. The dev team has grown a lot and learned a lot and I think with a sequel or spiritual successor down the line and the capabilities of newer hardware we could see the dream medieval fighter we all want. However that won’t come for years since For Honor has been announced to go to next gen consoles and the devs will likely continue support for a bit.
It's still a sword. There (I think) isn't a specific type of sword for half-swording. Though I have seen a longsword with a warhammer face and spike hilt.

Commenting from years later here, for honor will always be one of my favorite fighting games of the recent years. Also, ive noticed in this alpha gameplay there's armor and executions that weren't put in till later in the actual game. Which is no big deal IMO, but still cool to notice.

This is exactly the kind of game I ever wanted. I searched for a game like this for years. And finally here we go. I'm ready to fight for Knights. I mean the strategies and technics of combat is just amazing. When I play skyrim I always thought, "I wish I could fight with my sword with some advance technics rather than just swinging my sword". And hell yeah I even thought of developing a game like that because I never got to play a game like that and I wanted to play a game like that so badly. It would be really great if we could build our own empire too. SO thank you very much for the game.
Nah I actually found a better game recently. "Kingdom come deliverance". Check it out if you haven't seen it already. It's an amazing game. Still in alpha but the game looks stunning.

Sir Alonne Dark Souls Brasil Well this game is also pretty much a hack and slash, but more realistic. That's why it would make Dark Souls even better. I mentioned Skyrim, because it has a very bland and outdated combat system.

I do not want to reduce Dark Souls to one of those mobile "swipe to dodge and attack" games like Infinity Blade. Souls combat is significantly more in depth than this, this combat would make it worse. This combat only works for 1v1 human vs human encounters.

It's interesting to see the animations in this early iteration of the game. Because their speed has been changed for gameplay reasons, some look far better.
If only we knew what a toxic wasteland it would become. They even took out the bad ass minion kill animations and made it so all the bots scale to your reputation. So basically theirs nothing left but duels against real people where the unbalanced strong heroes shit on all the weak heroes or team modes where you get ganked to death over and over again.
yeah I know I still play it it's a fun game when you find another player on your skill level. I'm giving it a chance. it still needs some re-balancing and server issues need to be resolved

It is not better just It is more slow... very slow. If you let this game for 4 years, combat would be: Light attack:Blocked, Heavy attack: Blocked, Zone attack: Blocked. Guardbreak: CounterGuardbreak.. hahaha the infinite combat game. I would let this game in 2020 but just if they remove the HUD. That would be amazing. This animation speed, but without indicators...
I REALLY love how there are AI grunts that you can slash through with no problems making you feel like a total BADASS in the process. IT will allow even the worst players to feel cool and useful. I maybe the most excited about this game out of all that were announced. Fallout 4 and this are in a tie for me. Can't WAIT!
I doubt this game has a large world map where you travel around with a troop of soldiers from city to city and where you can organize your groups of infantry, cavalry, and archers against other AI in that sort of combat in a single player RPG/combat game
Lanncelot ᄑ as a day 1 player I feel the need to remind you that despite the overwhelming nostalgia I feel wen watching this. You have to remember all the unlock techs, GB feints, 233 ms attack due to certain types of unlock techs. The extreme fucking glitches, I could go on. If you look at the original 12 characters today compared to how they were in the beginning, and over all game mechanics you’d realise the game has improved a lot. How ever the dlc heroes are complete cluster fuck if you ask me.

And that's coming from a conq player and we were neglected asf on release. Plus then they added magic and it went from historical fighting to some madness. And let's not even mention the fact they never brought back the play mode where it's 4v4 in close confines and you can only win when the whole teams dead at once. So far we have the Viking, Knight, and Samurai... I hope they put in more warriors from different time periods (as the development goes or as DLC) such as the Spartan, Roman Centurion, Mongol Soldier, Persian Immortal, and Ming Warrior etc

No. What this actually is, and I'm pretty sure I'm 95% accurate on the inspiration of this game, look up Wars and Warriors Joan of Arc. I actually beat that game during my young gaming days on PC. It was awesome for it's time. I had a blast. This game has a very similar look and feel. You play a strong heroish character while the war is happening around you and your able to join in at any time among anywhere there is a battle going on. Wars and Warriors basically had the same feel where you'd have your entire army on your side fighting a fight while your running around, siege castles and they are doing their thing.
I dont think 4v4 is enough player count for a game like this, I feel like it will be burn out quite quick because it'll be more AI then actual players. Id personally do like an 8v8 type thing but none the less looks like an awesome game.
Not bad.. But not accurately realistic. It has proper parrying and half swording which is a huge plus. But many enemies wait to be killed instead of ganging up on you like they would in real life. And they shouldn't be running as fast as they do with full metal armor. Nor attacking super fast. A long with throwing enemies. Which just seems unlikely.

The Samurai minions looked so much better in the E3 version and the E3 has more blood. It's also got a darker color scheme too which is kinda nice.

Lanncelot ᄑ as a day 1 player I feel the need to remind you that despite the overwhelming nostalgia I feel wen watching this. You have to remember all the unlock techs, GB feints, 233 ms attack due to certain types of unlock techs. The extreme fucking glitches, I could go on. If you look at the original 12 characters today compared to how they were in the beginning, and over all game mechanics you’d realise the game has improved a lot. How ever the dlc heroes are complete cluster fuck if you ask me.

@@Josh-kt6jh I disagree heartily the removable of the ability to customise your playstyle being removed made this just another generic fighting game that forces you to use classes the way the developers want instead of giving you the freedom to play to your strengths and back then it was only the orochi with the stupid unblockable fast attacks so the game hardly needed a rework due to one weeb class. And that's coming from a conq player and we were neglected asf on release. Plus then they added magic and it went from historical fighting to some madness. And let's not even mention the fact they never brought back the play mode where it's 4v4 in close confines and you can only win when the whole teams dead at once. That shit was the best bit about the game imho.

+Keven Langevin The only real "connection" is medieval combat. I stated "Ubisoft Darksouls" bc the fighting system is similar. Target one enemy at a time, gotta time shit right, all that juicy stuff. And yes Darksouls can be a 4 vs 4 fighting game... at times.

@@sunkeeper8009 this is late as fuck but average reaction time is 300ms not 1000-2000ms 1 to 2 seconds is normally because of the shock of the thing happening and the surprise in real life but if you're in game waiting for something to happen reaction time would be significantly increased

No. What this actually is, and I'm pretty sure I'm 95% accurate on the inspiration of this game, look up Wars and Warriors Joan of Arc. I actually beat that game during my young gaming days on PC. It was awesome for it's time. I had a blast.
This game has a very similar look and feel. You play a strong heroish character while the war is happening around you and your able to join in at any time among anywhere there is a battle going on. Wars and Warriors basically had the same feel where you'd have your entire army on your side fighting a fight while your running around, siege castles and they are doing their thing.

I dont think 4v4 is enough player count for a game like this, I feel like it will be burn out quite quick because it'll be more AI then actual players. Id personally do like an 8v8 type thing but none the less looks like an awesome game.

Not bad.. But not accurately realistic. It has proper parrying and half swording which is a huge plus. But many enemies wait to be killed instead of ganging up on you like they would in real life. And they shouldn't be running as fast as they do with full metal armor. Nor attacking super fast. A long with throwing enemies. Which just seems unlikely.

I think this game is more like "the best you can get from realistic/fun", it looks reaaaally fun, fast, and realistic in some ways, like, you can get your team to help you, you can push someone from a ledge and this person will get dammaged, these stuff, not "all realistic crazy stuff", nor the "CoD realism" ahhahahaha.
