As someone who is from the same school as the boy who hit his mum, I want to apologise. My school has a lot of people who are degenerate and break rules all the time, but hitting a parent or family member is absolutely unacceptable. He most probably graduated now, but this one incident has most probably given my school a bad reputation.

I'll be completely honest, my mom and I will argue sometimes, even raise my voice against her sometimes, and she can be toxic sometimes. But even so, I'll never dare to hit her. Yeah, parents can be annoying sometimes, but the least you can do is respect them as they literally spent half, if not most, of their life raising you and they're probably the only people that'll accept you for who you are, even when you're at your lowest.

As a sg teen, i got rlly emotional when watching this. i didnt know it would get to me that hard but i am very appreciative when i became '懂事' (meaning is sensible and can understand stuff for those who cant read chinese so sorry). it emotionally hurts me to see how he treats the mum with such disrespect. My theories are:
1. The lady is a single parent. Perhaps, his ex-husband was an abusive spouse. I think this because the son seemed somewhat reluctant to apologize, but explained 'why' the situation occured.
2. I do agree with your point about parenting skills. There are various type of parenting. "The helicopter" parenting is pampering child without limitation and no discipline at home until the kids spoiled.
I hope the lady can go to the clinical therapy or meet a psychologist. I feel she needs help.

On Instagram his house location was leaked by his friend and I actually saw the address and the Pai Kias in my school went to his house. One of my friends actually went there and showed me what happened. A lot of people like flood the whole floor a lot went to his house and the guy at first talk shit behind the metal gate but when 50+ people started to try to break his metal gate he went back inside the hide and his apology was released 2 hours later.

Raises serious questions about the condition of the household. The son could not have picked his behavior up from just anywhere; it must've been someone directly related to the family. The way he treats his mom as if HE was the parent instead (even if he was, still toxic), the way he expects his mom to bow down to him... these behaviors are learnt. The way the mother reacts to him says a lot too - she's probably so used to being treated like that (presumably by the dad too or someone else) that she's just accepted it and maybe even thinks she deserves it. Heartbreaking.

And ironically, if another family member was abusive (which u assumed he learnt from), this would have led to the son being defensive over his mom rather than abusive instead in most cases. Even in toxic family households, peers have a way more significant impact on the person's behaviour compared to family. A simple test would be comparing all family members. In most cases, we have seen the child being different from his siblings, which greatly proves that external factors like peers play a part.

My cousin brother's son is 6 years old and was such a spoilt brat when younger(he has changed a lot for a 6-year-old), I know I shouldn't say this but tbh, my brother and his wife had been pampering him since the day he was born, whenever they dropped him off at our house, he used to make the house into a jungle but I didn't really say anything because he was small then, but when he used to hit me or my sister, I tried to explain to him how to respect elders and more but he didn't feel apologetic towards us, instead started throwing a fit and continued hitting us, that's when I slapped him, he feared me ever since and started respecting me but the disrespect towards his parents and others continued, one day I tried to explain to my brother's wife how she should stop pampering him because the consequences in the future wouldn't turn out great, she just said that he's still a child and she just can't do it(also, she knew I had slapped him and was totaly okay with it), I insisted her to drop him at our house on weekends and holidays etc, and I tried to change him by explaining him, it gradually worked and I am really proud of him now
2 days back, one of his friends was playing with a soft toy and the other friend teased him and said that he was girly, my nephew went to them and explained to them that these things don't belong to a specific gender, I heard everything and was proud, but sometimes I think what if I hadn't bothered to babysit him? would he have turned out like this dumb boy in the video?

This can be because he was treated like that back in his childhood. So maybe from the way how he was handled back then gave him that ideology to treat another person when situation get to that level. In Asian countries, no matter how much adults, parents and old people are wrong, they are still viewed as correct and so everything is fucked up tbh.
This is what makes me scared to become a parent, if my kid does that, they'll be sleeping in a crime scene body bag 😂
