The printers pixel size is 33 microns not 50. You can use other manufacturers resins. People have already done that and have had successful prints. There’s nothing stopping someone from filling their resin bottle with another vendors resin. You don’t even have to use the bottle. Just pour the resin into the vat like you normally would for other printers. The wash station is over engineered. I wouldn’t buy it. This printer is not aimed at the low to mid tier market.
This sounds like a dangerous precedent, similar to the printer market forcing users to their inks and toners. There's no way I would invest into a 3D printer that ties you to one resin or slicer.
Same
ueah its an mazing printer but having a monopoly on what you seel is never a good thing
I agree, and at the same time, it’s what Apple has done and look where they are.
@@Gnecro to be fair apple users just swallow anything if they get to pay extra money for it
Sounds like games workshops customers!
The printer seems neat, not being able to use 3rd party resin is a huge deal breaker though.
This printer does look like it's a sign of what the next generation of printers might look like. Its locked-in features, even the much maligned proprietary resin requirement, make sense for anyone needing to use it professionally rather than as a hobbyist, as it gives guaranteed consistent results, and if it doesn't there's a single source of support to troubleshoot it. If you were running a commercial print farm, the savings in prep time and potential fails would more than offset the resin costing three times as much - let's face it, actual resin cost can be a tiny proportion of the cost of producing a mini.
For us hobbyists printing out our toy soldiers, this printer might not be aimed at us, but it's still bloody impressive and interesting to see what features might creep into future printers from other manufacturers.
You do have some true understanding for 3D printing!
Why on Earth would you subject yourself to a supply chain bottleneck as a Commercial Print Farm? I worked in Fiber Glass and we used what ever resin we could get our hand's on that week because not every thing is always available. Now Imagine having a shop full of machines that can Only take the Resin the Manufacture of a Machine you bought allows you to what an absolute joke. Imagine if Trucks only ran off "Shell" Gas or apply it to anything else. Also you know why we have so many resin options now? People started making their own because the Printer Branded Resin Sucked!
The printer alone is too expensive to use in a print farm. You can get this quality of prints off of a printer that costs one-third the price. The resin is not a tiny proportion of cost when producing miniatures. This machine and the resin is far too expensive to justify using them for a business. If you are just a hobbyist making minis for you and some friends, then it can be justified.
The only thing that sketches me is not being able to use other slicers or resins. But other than that, this really does seem like a big jump in innovation, especially the presupports which actually work. Honestly I'd quite happily pay a couple bucks for just that slicer, if it could be used with another printer. Working and effective autosupports is really the holy grail for a slicer.
It would be excellent if it was more open but hopefully this makes the rest of the industry push forward and implement the same features
@@battlebrothersam Yeah, if someone could figure out the model fixing tech from 3D Builder and the autosupports from this, and put them together, now THAT is a slicer I'd be happy to pay a subscription for
Your videos have been a huge help for me, as I recently got into 3d printing and wanted to take another dive into the tabletop game. I've loved some of the STLs I've found following your breadcrumbs, going to need to rewatch this and see if I can find the trail.
Thanks brother!
Only using their slicer and resin, the price point being easily 2x printers with substantially better specs, and having to buy their bundle and not just printer. Hard pass I'd assume for most people in this hobby.
I'd have to agree. Honestly, if they released that slicer software with that presupporting system I'd probably pay for that, but the full thing being 2 grand just precludes it for me. Idm if they have to put a little warning like "Might not be as effective outside our ecosystem" or whatever, or have a certain resin to guarantee it, but most people won't spend 2 grand on a printer when 500 gets you one with better specs overall.
Still very much seems like a business type thing rather than a hobbyist machine.
You can now buy the printer on its own, but its a "Pre Order" and costs the same as four Saturn Ultra's which are specked to print at x6 the Speed...
That printer is awesome. If I had more financial freedom, I would be buying it and everything needed to make it the only printer I will ever need. but I’m broke.
I just want to know if their resin actually worth over $60 a bottle.
That printer, at that price is laughable. I would rather buy another Athena.
Thanks for another great video same, you've inspired me to start printing and painting armies again.
Great to hear brother! Don't blame me when the pile of shame is up to your eyes lol
Outstanding vid mate. I really enjoy watching how you are using new kit as I am now a gnats knacker away from buying my first printer….
Thanks brother!
Always love seeing the banana boys. Just joined the Patreon and discord and I'm loving it already! Keep up the great content :)
Welcome aboard brother! Thanks! 😁

I was so lucky I found them on cults way before I got a 3D printer
You are very lucky! Lol
i do wonder... can you refill those bottles with cheaper resin which most likely is the same stuff just rebranded anyways. also is it possible to just manually fill up the tank from a different brand bottle? I genuinely dont see a way for the printer to even detect what resin is being put into it and it is just a different shaped bottle can always just print an adapter for generic bottles?
Legends say a certain Mr. Aqu ilon on a weird purple occult site has a big amount of these.
Yes indeed brother 😁
i remember the group that had all of the files it took me about week but i downloaded all of the files its had including the file you deep dived for.
Yeah I'm sure they are restricting the software and material you can use 100% just for the consumers benefit ;)
Yeah sure . Because when companies do that sort of this sort of thing their motivation has like ehhh ever been to help the consumer ;) suuuuure
That is an amazing system - pity my pockets are pathetically skint.
Enjoying the content dude. How difficult do you find it getting 3D printing stuff sourced/delivered in NI? Thinking of getting into it but don't want to wait 8 weeks on deliveries!
Amazon is a saviour brother 😂😂 if your in N.I getting ipa can be a pain so I started using meth spirits because its in the spar for cheap enough
@battlebrothersam Managed to get some IPA to strip some 90s minis a while back but it cost neaar 40 quid for 5 litres. Might be better sticking with the meths
can you download the software and use on other printers to presupport and slice? doesn't give me the option to download it
Unfortunately not it only works with the printer it's a closed loop system
Lucky for me I’m 2/3 way through a 2.9mil build of a chaos marine. With 25 different helmets, 12 weapons and hopefully if I can pack it up before October. 10 shaders
Bruh I am packing my stuff away from work right as you put this one out. To quote the meme "I cant beleive you done this"
I know brother, 6am is an odd time to post but just wanted it out there instead of waiting 😂😂😂
@@battlebrothersam I was messing bud also I am pretty sure I was the first to click on the video lol great stuff as always 💪🏻
@@battlebrothersam still faster than me with all of this stuff ha
All that time to find the model and you slapchop it ahhhhhhh lol . Great video.
Thanks brother 😂 I'm a heathen for painting whatever is the easiest quickest way 😂
I have a potentially dumb question, because I am still relatively new to 3d printing. Is indirect sunlight okay? Seems like a lot of rays might be sneaking in.
I'd love to see a space nuns army
Yes print ghosts with the clear resin !
Excellent idea!
I guess I got lucky and actually found the files on cults yesterday.
I see you use windsor and newton burnt umber and some mineral spirits, mind sharing your dirty oil recipie? Mine always come out too stained looking, yours looks like most of it dries off.
Great video. That printer looks awesome. Just a heads up that the μ symbol means micro so μm means micrometers. Noticed that you called "u" "m"
Excellent! I honestly had no idea as I've never heard it aloud only written down thanks brother this will help with future videos
Spoken, micron, works well too!
Getting squidmar vibes with that title... bro just can't not be mentioned when the banana boys are the topic
Not gonna lie when I came up with this idea I thought of him trying to get Henry to trade his custodes 😂😂
Just to let people know by the way, found those venetari the other day! You just gotta be willing to join a chaos collective, if yknow what I mean. Best of luck, hope they're still there!
I'm intrigued but confused :D
Never realized the Ares was THAT big.
It's huge I think it's 1.5-1.8kg
Lad, I've been trying to get back into the hobby a while now. But due to Ireland's absolutely outrageous prices at the minute it's been on hold. You would hardly take a commission?
Sorry lad that's a quick way for me to get shut down but there's bound to be a Ireland 3 printing Facebook group
@@battlebrothersam I didn't even think of that, but it absolutely makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply, love the videos, Top quality content. Amazing skill and Keeping the hobby alive. If you ever wanna get rid of one of those printers I'm your man. Cheers.
do you get to keep the printers you're sent?
I do indeed and plan on using them for some epic projects that I have planned
@@battlebrothersam Nice😎
i haven't played 40k in 2 decades but i might just buy an elogoo3 12k and have a crack at it. can you do a review on that company and its products for this niche application?
Good choice! I haven't used it personally but the phrozen sonic mini 8ks is a great printer for around $350
Or the Saturn 8k
Man, that printer looks great, but it's just too expensive for my taste. I print on a Photon Mono and I can buy a whole printing farm for that amount of money. Their resin is pricey, too,. but I suppose it would come down to how good it is. Would be interested in seeing some testing with that resin where it comes to durability and how brittle it is.
I guess I should do a short video on dropping the venetari from different heights to see if it breaks 😂😂
@@battlebrothersam Well, maybe not one THAT extreme, but some smaller models with some spindly bits, like spears sticking out? 😁
No brother you've convinced me! The custard bird boys need to fly!
Is there really such a thing as the rarest .stl file? Would that not be one that's never been used, shared or even used once and deleted? I know this is an "But Actually Moment" but really
Jesus Christ, you rate it S tier, at that price, with a requirement to use their resin, their slicer, the lid looks piss poor in terms of fitment, but Oh boy, buzz words like AI and selfs level..... Seriously, ive only ever leveled my Saturn 2 twice. Stop shilling and be honest. Its just another printer, ok at best, and overpriced.
I said if the autosupports work then they (the autosupports) are s tier..
Just a crying shame that Venatari are so overcosted in 10th.
Just my luck brother
ahhh follow norn iron man like myself! Great video will now subscribe 😊
Thanks brother! 😁
literally took a 20 second search to find lol
*squinting fry face* I'll just message you in future if I'm struggling to find a file
so any lead or keywords ? to reproduce
@@RADkate I just used the name of the model in Telegram
@@anthonyhumpage7290 oh yeah i forgot about all that, i only really paint minis that seem like fun to paint so im not really in the scene lol
@@anthonyhumpage7290 telegram link? or name
This machine looks very cool in appearance
I started a print at 40% humidity it ended at 100% ... didn't effect anything
it always makes me sad to see such a great print and then seeing that the model is faceted because it simply wasn't subdivided enough. smooth shading should be disabled in all slicers (not having a go at you mate, more just saying its sad that the original artist didn't subdivide enough)
lol, venetari were some of the first files I got when I started a few years ago, I think it was from a random 4chan archive.
nice content just need to hear you better
Where are they please ?
You can’t showcase the super secret squirrel stuff man! Lol
Even though the printer looks great, the prints look awesome and the workflow smooth. For companies this is probably good, proprietary software and hardware leaves less room for user error. For hobbyists this can (and will be) a very expensive route. Combine this with again a company using AI as a marketing tool.
I am genuinely curious, do videos do better because people put Henry Cavill in the Title, or do people think he actually watches videos like this?
I'll find out in about 24 hours 😂but I highly doubt he watches videos like this
it was so helpful before got a 3D printer!!!
wait till you dig deep enough to find the 3d scanned miniatures private communities ;)
To be honest, while many people criticize the price and the restriction on using third-party resin and slicers, I have a different perspective on this. The manufacturer claims that their printer set delivers commercial-grade results, which wouldn't be possible if they allowed third-party options. By maintaining control over the parameters involved, this is the only way they can ensure the necessary precision for excellent outcomes. It's important to differentiate between using 3D printing as a production tool versus using it as a mere toy.
