I've had the idea to make crates like these. I was going to source pallets and break them apart to get free wood. Thanks for showing me that actually, economically pallets make no sense when you can get so much out of a 2x4. I really enjoy your videos.

I wanted crates for a vendor booth, love the look and stability, and they cost too much for what/how they were made. One set had the brad nails through the boards and inner corners and still stuck out about 1/4 inch. So thanks to this and a few other videos I planned out my own and for much cheaper. Thanks for the tips and breakdowns.

Thanks for the video. It came to mind that I could use a little grey matter and convert one of these crates (add some more slats) into a potato or onion bin with a slanted 45 angle for the stuff to roll down to a 1x4 front stop about 1.5" out the front for easy access. You really get the mind to moving. Thanks for that.

FYI- I have made these before. I went to Lowes, HD, Menards and collected the wooden slats they place between stacks of wood (separators). They are usually found broken or on the floor and such. But it saves you having to buy lumber and mill it down. I also used pallet wood for the slats in the bottom to make the crates a little more sturdy

Hey Matt the second type of crate can be simple improved to be stackable. Just put one strip less on the bottom and let the corners stick a bit out of the bottom. Therefore you get some space on the top end where the protruding corners at the bottom can nicely fit in. If you have multiple crates you can stack them securly.
Sorry if i can't describe it right in english, but i believe you can figure out what i am trying to explain...

I try to show my kids these concepts, but in the Era of UA-cam, they don't retain the info unless they can pause, rewind, and rewatch a video while they practice.
