    Having lived in China for a few years, this is an EXCELLENT summary video about guanxi. Without, there is no way to much, with it, you can do anything

    This was amazing! I really get it now! I feel the people I have watched before this were looking at it from a "how can this benefit me" stance and it kept them from really showcasing what guanxi really is.

    This is very interesting. I started to look this up after I read about it randomly. It seems that I have started a small guanxi connection with my chinese neighbors by sharing food and plants and more recently by scaring off some people who were attempting to jump into their backyard. After every event they always send us food.

      Italian guy here. Old-fashioned (I'd say not only but especially pre-90s) south Italian social connection is more like it but yes, you're not that far off. Spent about six years coming and going to central / south-east Asia and there's one specific proverb my Sicilian grandma used to tell me when I was younger: "una mano lava l'altra e assieme lavano la faccia". One hand's washing the other and together they're washing the face. Keeping that proverb in mind whenever in Asia has helped me and is still helping me greatly.

    Basically, it's lobbying. It's politics, guys! Any House of Cards fans here? That show presents this pretty deeply in its plot.

    In the West this happens all the time, but at least it's frowned upon. As opposed to being a moral obligation. It's light bribery...

      It;s really one of the worst things about being human. It's an endless cycle of ass licking

    Thank you for this contribution.
    What the previous commentator wrote in Chinese is:
    "Good interpretation! Simple enough for children, so stupid foreigners are slowly learning."

      Well, the comment in Chinese means simple enough for children and some stupid foreigners. It doesn't mean all the foreigners are stupid.

    太慘了,我前幾天在造句的時候用這個詞,被我們老師說:你幹嘛用拼音當英文字。然後分數全沒了....他也不聽我解釋,這就是母語者的悲哀嗎?

    i.e. open corruption and manipulation. Please tell me that this is considered bad.

    • @tarrychang7031
      @tarrychang7031 Рік тому

      No. Chinese here. It is not considered bad.. If you don't know how to build guanxi, maybe other people think you are dumb or inflexible :)
      If you leverage some Guanxi to achieve something like Hanmeimei in the video, other people would wonder what guanxi you have...
