They didn't think it through with the Die Hard thing unless the Friends universe is like the Last Action Hero universe (Stallone plays The Terminator there). I think Bruce Willis was the most famous actor to appear in friends, especially at the time it aired. Matthew Perry has worked with Bruce Willis since in The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel which if I remember rightly aren't too bad.
