I love Badfinger. However I think it's time you Update this old version. They did not play this song with Capo'd guitars & this kind of makes the pitch just sound wrong 🤔

Note that you can add either open E to this chord and it will sound fine without changing the function. This G aug chord could be thought of as the closely related Em (maj7) chord resolving as a secondary "dominant" to Am (or if you don't like the term dominant on a maj 7 chord just think V to I)
