I've regretted buying as well as selling some of my pens. I think the most important rule is to buy what you really want and don't do any compromises.

In the year 2000 I really wanted a Montblanc 149, however, I got the 146 instead. Although I have loved the 146, for many years I always regretted not getting the big horse. So last year I broke down and bought the 149 and love it. The 146 with the fine point nib is a great daily writer, and I still use it for that. I got the 149 with a medium nib to be a signature pen, and of course it is magnificent. Retired now, I don’t sign my name nearly as much as I did when working, but I still ink up the 149 often and admire its qualities. The point is: go ahead and get the pen you want.

Oh yes, I always regret purchases. Last time was an auction a month ago for some Swedish vintage pens that I intend to restore.

Not generally someone to comment on nail polish, but yours looks good. Good match to your sweater. 😁
I was iffy, recently, buying another of my favorite gold nibbed pens. I love the 1940s Wahl-Eversharp Skyline, and got a really awful looking one from eBay. (Was thinking that, worst case, I had a parts pen. Almost everything on the old Skylines are proprietary, so parts are just what you can find.)
Pictures, looked like all the trim was shot. Not a bit of gold left. Looked chewed on. Was intact was its only saving factor, based on the pictures.
But then it arrived. Sure, for a WWII pen, it needed a new ink sac. But pulled out a polishing pad (I also highly recommend the ones that Chrisrap52 has mentioned in his videos!) and got to work. Dunno what the tarnish was, but it's as bright as the day it left the factory now. Even the lever is perfect (the cap, posted, like everyone used to do, used to rub on the lever, ruining the plating.) The scratches and tooth marks turned out to be just years of hand grot, and I now have a brand new looking Skyline! Hunter green with the green and amber striped cap. Really good looking, IMO, and the writing experience is magnificent!
Maybe you can still get the Franklin Christof!

I GOT THE FPR JAIPUR V2 CRYSTAL EDITION BECAUSE I LOVE DEMONSTRATORS, BEING ABLE TO SEE THE INK AND MECHANISM, BUT I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A MAN WHO WANTS EVERYTHING IN BLACK AND IDK IF I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE MATTE BLACK EBONITE INSTEAD, OR NOT, OR YES, OR IDK XD
BTW UR PEN IS AN ALL BLACK DIPLOMAT AERO, SO CHIC, U HAVE MY APPROVAL ;)

I just recently bought my first TWSBI Eco in the Indigo Blue with Bronze trim. I literally researched it for months before finally pulling the trigger (It cost me $95 AUD too, instead of the standard $56 for any other eco). But in my wisdom I decided to get it with a broad nib, as I had never tried writing with a broad (only Fine and Mediums so far). Well I was so excited when I finally received the pen, inked it up, and instantly regretted the broad nib. Hated it! So I went straight back online and had to purchase a fine replacement nib in plain steel as opposed to the gorgeous bronze one that comes on the pen. So I have a stunning indigo bronze eco without a bronze nib :( But I must say with the new nib it was like night and day. Currently my favourite pen I have owned. I may end up purchasing a rose gold fine nib and put that on it just to match better, haha. Most expensive eco ever!

I like your taste in wall decorations. Love the map of Middle Earth and Anduril, Flame of the West hanging next to it. I have mine next to Aragorn's Ranger Sword and Theoden's Herugrim Sword.

I'm sure I've regretted some pen/ink buys, but not really enough to resent them.... Maybe the Noodler's Ahab 😳 but now I really want their triple tail 😅

I so wanted to get the Taccia Miyabi Earth LE Bokashi Lava. I got the TACCIA Miyabi Earth Dusk Light. It is very similar. I have hands down reasons to prefer the one I got, ...but I so much wanted that vivid red color.

That Malt coloured FC Model 20 is quite alluring. I have been eager to try their pens for some time. Finally snagged one from their 2023 close outs. Just waiting to get it in hand now. After that I am pretty sure there will be more FCs in my collection.

I certainly have regretted buying certain pens. Sometimes this happens because I commit to something and then a different pen I want becomes available (new or used) the next day and is now out of budget. I hate to say it, but I sold my Diplomat Aero. They are beautiful and well-made pens, but the narrow, slippery grip combined with the bulbous body gave me hand cramps within minutes. That being said, I know many people love the Aero. I wish it was easy to get the Tuna and Ginger inks in the U.S.

Funny you should ask... My first serious was an Aero, in solid black. I wanted the stripes version but the black one was on special. For a while, I regretted not springing for the other color for a while since it is such a great pen. Now I prefer the black one and have no desire to correct the early choice.

I’ve regretted more ink purchases than pen purchases, but I do love my Diplomats. Just added the black one like you with a med nib because that’s my go to size. I bought a Sailor PG that I thought I’d enjoy but alas it just sits in my case-that was a purchase I could have done without!

I don't regret buying one Sailor Pro Gear Slim Mini. But I shouldn't have bought two more, so that I have a gorgeous set of three in a perfect little case designed for Kaweco Sports, which they fit in perfectly. The whole set-up is quite refined and attractive and I never use it. Would sell if I could be bothered.

One of the several retailers I've bought from had a used model of a particular Lamy that I saw in a pen video. I was just about to buy it, but just for giggles decided to look elsewhere. Surprise! Found the same pen, new in box, for a lower price, free shipping, from another seller. Snagged it. Regrets? Not yet. So don't beat yourself up about your choices, Karry. Just save your small change until you can buy that other pen. Goals are cool; guilt is a drag.

Once I realized how much I love Pilot Decimo pens, I regretted all my sailors except my Pro Gear lavender margarita. I think Pilot makes the better pen.

I know what you mean about being torn between 2 pens! I had this happen back in September and I regret not getting the other choice pen. Also, love your choice in Dominant Industry inks! Dominant Industry inks are amazing. I recently purchased Tsavorite, a bright, bold teal for Fountain Pen Day. Lovely ink.

I feel your pain! If i were you, i would save up and buy the FC model 20. In my experience, FC often runs out of pens in specific colors and who knows when they will be back. Also, their pens are amazing. If you order from the website you can elect to get a custom grind - which is what i did. So happy with my FC pen :-) Good luck. PS - I sold my Diplomat Aero.

I feel your pain. You should have got the FC with a specialty grind. The Diplomat basically has a no 6 Jowo nib which you can basically get on a TWSBI for half the price or less unless you got the gold.

I've definitely had pen buying regret. Mainly when I purchased on an impulse instead of planning out what I wanted in advance. I normally don't regret inks at least - even if they're dry and horrible, they'll work in a TWSBI broad nib.

My most expensive regret is buying a Pilot Ishime FP in 'burgundy.'I chose that color because in the catalog it looked like an actual burgundy color; in reality it is 'pinkish.' I really wanted the 'hunter green' model, but I have many green pens and few burgundy ones. Since the Ishime model is more than $600, I'm not going to buy a green one. My solace is that the pen is an excellent writer.

I got the BENU Euphoria New Year 2023 LE, and I've always felt a bit of regret. The pen is great (it's a BENU, how could it NOT be amazing!) But I have other BENU pens that I adore and use more often, and this one gets neglected. In fact I don't think I've ever really used it other than testing ink once in a while. I should make plans to use it this holiday season. It's such a lovely sparkly green. Very festive. And it sits alone and unused in a plush pen sleeve, while I feel guilty over the purchase (and it's not the cost, I bought another BENU since then... it's the guilt over me not loving it as much). How sad! 😂

There are two minor things in my FP hobby that I kind of regret. One is I wish I got the regular Opus 88 Demonstartor with the clear body instead of the clown puke confetti one. The other is a Franklin Christoph extra-fine flex nib that doesn’t flex at all and cost a bundle by the time I got it shipped and paid duties into Canada. I now know that I really like their SIG nibs and they have way more character.

Friday was Fountain Pen Day 2023, which naturally involves a lot of sales. There was a solid price on the Benu Luminous series of pens, and I found myself vacillating between the Blue and the Sapphire... so I bought both! NO RAgREtS! [runs off with fists raised, a fountain pen in each hand]

I get buyers remorse a lot and send stuff back when I'm so disappointed in it. I got the Diplomat Elox Fountain Pen and was so damn let down with it, In the UK the price was so high and the pen just wasn't worth it. The cap click was so good 😆but the pen was not good enough for the money and I sent it back, so yeah that was one of my many buyers remorse purchases.

Yes, I regreted to a Vanashing Point (black Rhodium). It is a great fountain pen for sure but my writing angle is very flat, so I'm often toutch the paper with the feed. That looks like I wrote with a stub nib but feels terrible.
