@@avontaprice6296 If the driver knew there was a fire inside the truck the smart idea is to drive directly to the fire station. Due to the relatively closed up nature of the bin little oxygen can get in there fore the fire isnt at a risk to get much bigger.
Safety stops for the TG lift cylinders were not put in place, had the HP hyd line blown the TG could have slammed down killing any one in its way. I get it they’re not thinking about that during fire but could have had a much worse outcome.
Out of 24 years of doing Garbage I've never had a load catch fire do to batteries. However the 2 times I've had a load on fire is because they didn't put out the charcoal briquettes from there bbq.
We've had 8 garbage truck fires so far this year in the city I live in and everyone of them was started by household batteries and they were definitely not started by charcoal briquettes from the BBQ
They should have waited for the blade to push the load out and truck to pull forward all it takes is thos hydraulics to give out and that rear comes down killing anyone under it

Yup, my late father was a firefighter and EMT, something happened to him that spooked him enough to not go into burning buildings anymore before he died in a car accident
The only thing much worse that a garbage truck fire is a fire in a garage transfer station. We had a large transfer station in our first due and that thing caught fire at least once or twice a year. We were there for hours putting out the smoldering fire in all that garbage. If it were not for front loaders we would have been there for days. Unlike blacking out a brush fire you had to wear your BA the whole time. In the middle of summer it was a real ass buster.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention for some reason UA-cam is only allowing several of our latest videos to be 360p we will make sure this is corrected for future videos since this is obviously not the quality we shoot in or expect our followers to have to watch in
Question... why didn't the garbage truck driver dump all the garbage first, pull away a few feet to allow extinguishing any burning remnants in the truck and allow for complete overhaul of the garbage pile? Any remaining embers hidden could easily find their way to the landfill where, you know, a landfill fire that can tie up units for days or even weeks... or did a continuance of the video show that? Sometimes these "snapshot" videos need to run a bit longer to get more of a complete picture of how various departments operate on even the more mundane tasks of extinguishing a dumpster or a garbage truck fire, as standard operating procedures do vary throughout the nation and the world.
Our trash company pissed me off. So I got a gallon of muriatic acid at the pool store, barely put on the cap, put a gallon of water in a different trash bag, also barely turning the cap, only half a turn and would easily leak or pop off when being crushed and the two would mix, and get very hot. About 20 minutes later and two streets away I see smoke coming from the truck and the truck was destroyed by fire. You messed with the wrong person.
Did they ever determine the cause of the fire what stared it? great work by the fire department putting out the fire . we have witnessed them @ the fire academy training how to handle all types of trash trucks older vehicles small long rear loaders front loaders and transfer station trailers that were donated to the academy to train with . trash recycling LEAFS grass clippings brush wood bulk pick ups it was very well completed for are county and other towns and cities to come train for .
I wouldn't have had the trash dumped in front of the station. Move down 100 feet to keep the area available for the other trucks to respond to other emergencies.
it was more than likely a cigarette that was still hot, or it could have been the heat from the engine....worst case possible is arson....i've seen it before with dumpsters
That alarm noise could put you in the nut house.
I hear it all day every day. You get used to it.
Perfect place to have the fire right in front of the fire station
Driver may have driven there on purpose.
I totally agree on that.👍👍

To paraphrase Han Solo, “Opening this trash container was a wonderful idea, What a wonderful smell you’ve discovered” 😂😂😂
Done that plenty of times in my day of a trash guy.
Han Solo "And I thought they smelled bad on the outside."
It was a small job, but everyone was in full PPE. Appears to be a well-trained and well-commanded department!

This is why you don’t put flammable crap in the garbage, especially if the truck in your area runs off CNG.
Could have been a battery that started it.
@ Yup that's what I said. Thanks for confirmation.
🤦😂
And this is why you don’t throw batteries in trash.

Lipo batteries are very flammable when you punch a hole or mechanically damage it.

@@michaelfreeze2949 Exactly, I’ve seen dumpster fires result from batters being tossed in with trash.

Definitely a good point, only if there is an actual lift lock in place.

Calm down they have helmets on.

Same thing applies to those raw sewage vacuum trucks.
Rule #1 when driving a garbage truck is that the driver dumps his/her load in the event of fire; don’t wait for FD to dump for you.
