I'm a hard rock/metal guy from way back, but I've got every Enya CD. She is simply spectacular. Beautiful production and singing. Her music brings you to a great place full of calm and hope. Great for relaxation, especially in times of need.
I am also a headbanger/punk rocker/whatever you want to call it and I must admit to having a soft spot for Enya's music as well, but there's no way in a month of Sundays I would own up to this in a crowd of fellow rockers 😉
Dude, I hear you. I listen to a wide genre of music and I can appreciate good/great music in just about every one of them. I have several Enya albums, but I also have a ton of grunge artist albums as well.
Enya takes me on a fantasy trip everytime I hear her. I wish I could live in that world forever, where everything is beautiful and peaceful, and people live harmoniously in brightly colored togas.
Enya's big hit was called Orinoco flow. She had recorded and layered her voice over 100s of times. insane. also the songs, Only time or May it be (from lord of the rings)
Yeah, alright.... How come you Irish have to rhapsodize ridiculously about Ireland yet leave as soon as possible? lol Incidentally, Enya is wonderful and Irish but please tell your fellow Irishmen that Kate Bush (who is equally wonderful) is English. Many thanks x
@@rnw2739 - read your history - a lot of the Irish left Ireland because they were starved out during the "the potato famine", (1845-1852), which wasn't really a famine; it was a genocide by the English, to starve the Irish to death & take their land. The food was there, the Irish were just not allowed to eat it! Educate yourself. And this review was not about Kate Bush. and am not a fan of ms. Bush. She is not in Enya's league. But I digress. Have a nice day.
Sometimes we're persuaded by our peers when they have a distasteful reaction to something so then we feel ashamed and embarrassed to like it ourselves. Especially when we're young and impressionable. We should like whatever we like regardless of how anyone else feels about it.
To really emphasize your comment that this is art, everything in an Enya song is HER. She rarely performs live, because it's all her recording each track, every instrument, every vocal, hundreds of individual tracks of her performing. This gives it the deep, thick, dreamlike sound of most of her music.
Chod!! Thank you, my man!! She is quite the accomplished pianist/keyboardist/Synth. Not to mention she pretty much plays ALL the instruments as well. She sings in English, Latin, and Gaelic. Check out anything from her 1st and 2nd albums. All her albums are good, but the piano/keys are really prevalent in the first two albums. Her music is definitely sitting and soaking in the bathtub music. Just sooooo relaxing. And this coming from a Pink Floyd fan. You want a song??? Portrait (Out of the Blue) a piano piece. . Your dad might even like this one. You want vocals? "I Want Tomorrow""Enjoy.
I've been listening to and appreciating Enya's musical brilliance for 35 years--yes, 35 years. I believe it takes that long to truly appreciate her talent.
Great reaction, thank you so much. Unlike todays sanitized music, Enya is an awesome angelic Irish singer with great music and videos. Thanks again, you are an awesome young gentleman, it's refreshing, you are refreshing. Love from Ireland
I own an embarrassing number of CDs and CD-singles from Enya, and this is my favorite song by her. Actually, I should probably say “by them” because she has described Enya as a trio. It’s herself, produce Nicky Ryan, and Nicky’s wife/lyricist Roma Ryan. They would spend hours/days/weeks in Nicky’s studio recording vocal overdubs to get that lush sound. One of the movies that made great use of her music was Steve Martin’s L.A. Story. She did spend a little time (2 CDs?) in her family’s band, Clannad, when she got out of school. She introduced the Prophet 5 synth to the very traditional acoustic Irish band. When you’re in the right frame of mind, her style of New Age Celtic music can relax you to the core.
Same, this is actually my favorite song ever.this is a repost but hey.ua-cam.com/video/5yRgiXh2fP4/v-deo.html is the most beautiful video i’ve ever seen. The visuals with the audio together feel heavenly. Makes you remember how beautiful this world truly is, also the intro: « so the world goes round and round with all you ever knew.. » is a poetic, simple and beautiful truth.
Brilliant how she dubs her own voice together to make the harmonies. That artistry that you mentioned Chod. I would highly recommend a listen to her song Storms in Africa Pt. 2 (she adds lyrics), part 1 is like an instrumental interlude to part 2 with light background hum vocals. And her song Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) from the same album titled Watermark
