I've spent the last four hours trying to figure out why 2.10 causes effects like the Soft Light paintbrush to affect multiple layers, whereas 2.8 affected only the layer to which it was applied. Your mention of the Alpha Lock feature at the end has finally cleared it up, and I appreciate it beyond telling!

How we find layer style, such as drop shadow like photoshop tool in gimp?

Does composite space "auto" automatically use perceptual?
Not necessarily - it depends on the image precision you have selected.
wow - THESE are the basics????? - yikes - I'd hate to see what the more intricate functions are - but thanks so much for your info - I have 2.10.4 and already I can see that some of the new features are "colored" performance/function buttons - would love to find out what some more features are .... but .... if I update ..... then just when I get used to things ..... updating will cause me to have to learn everything all over again :/

You can use the video controls to slow down the video if you think it is too fast.
@@DaviesMediaDesign Dave can I send you an email or another way of communicating with you. I have my design pretty much finished can't get to the one pic to overlay the main or vice cersa.

Right.... The reason why Im here is, because I want to learn something... So... If you do "tutorial" and you mention that I need to create a background ... why don't you stick with it from the very beginning?
The obvious fact is that my knowledge of gimnp is negligible, so where, what and how with this "crerating new background"
In other words, this tutorial will NOT be useful to me since I am not even able to do the first step that is required by the following steps.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, but I show you how the background layer is created at 2:15 - did you skip over that part?
this tutorial is way to long, and you only cover creating a new layer
It really isn't too long. While I would have liked a little more depth on the why something might be used, hence making it longer, it shows me there are a ton of option/features to the "new Layer" aspect I never knew, nor noticed.
