Fun fact: the special effects no longer function for the Chamber of Destiny. The cable that supported the effect snapped under the stress. Unfortunately, it can’t be fixed because the company that made the effect for that ride went bankrupt quite some time ago. Not too fun of a fact I think. So now it’s just the one real door that opens. (The chamber of destiny had four fake doors.)
I feel like Tokyo needs to add the music throughout the ride because the lack of music just feels off. Disneyland's version needs to fix the rat log and blow dart walls and update those rooms, because those look dated.
They renovated the California ride recently and they actually did replace the old rat projection with a spectral lightning projection and a new scene where it looks like there's a way out of the temple but it collapses because of the spectral lightning. The dart room however is still pretty much the same.
I’ve been on the ride idk how many times and I never noticed this until this video: Indy appears 3 times in the ride, but he only has his jacket on the first time you see him closing the Gates of Doom, while when he’s seen on the rope before the boulder and the crashed boulder he no longer has his jacket.
There are “stairs” down to the overlook at Disneyland too. It’s programmed into the sequence and they’re even mentioned in Indy’s dialogue, they’re just very faded and not blacklit like Tokyo’s. As for the music difference, I think it’s a culture/time difference. The creepy sounds set the scene of what an Indiana Jones temple would be if you entered and an Adventure was on the way. Experience as a witness or unwitting participant. With California, they wanted the riders to feel like they ARE Indiana Jones and that triumphant music will follow you throughout as the temple gives you no time to breathe. Yeah, he’s there but now you gotta do some “heavy lifting” on the adventure too while he’s indisposed. (The latter being my preference.)
So glad I found your channel, this is great content! I had no idea how many little details differed between the two versions. Always just though Tokyo’s was better but seeing this I’m not so sure. Personally I like the use of the score in DL better; Tokyo trades having the score end with the ride for some awkward silence as the car backs up before the Boulder.
@@ParallelDiscover but this goes to show just how much that slight difference in timing affects the experience! Something I never would’ve even noticed before, hopefully I get to experience the Tokyo version in person someday
Fun fact, the truck that you see in the Disneyland version Que is the actual truck from the movie Raiders of the lost Ark chasing where Indiana Jones on horseback
I never even noticed the lightning comes back! 😱I’m glad they are different but I’ll say the red color is more ominous than blue. Edit: the lightning coming back makes me think the lightning is an extension of a demonic being reaching out toward us, only pulling back because it felt the door closing.
This is a cool comparison especially since I've never ridden either in person, but I have been to Disneyland once, but unfortunately the ride was closed.
I Made the mistake of not skipping the arachnophobia warning. The last time I was that scared was when my half asleep self got jump scared in a FNaF fan game 😂
I definitely prefer Tokyo's eerie soundtrack arrangement for the boulder scene. I do find it to be quite off the first time the music cuts though. It feels a bit inconsistent. I think they should have made a new more eerie arrangement for that part of the ride, since the california soundtrack doesn't sound like it matches the tone. Also, fireball scene is still superior to the new scene from the recent refurb if I'm gonna be honest.
Hey man, There's alsoly Something that you alsoly didn't know about this attraction as we'll. As I learned from *"TPM Vids: UA-cam"* Channel. He said that it was use as a little interactive game for the guess to do while waiting in line after cast members handed out some holographic card decoders for the guest to do. 0:59
@@ParallelDiscover this could be their opportunity to refrence another mythological creature. Feathered serpents. If they make their giant snake feathered, that would be great. Skulls were a big part of Aztec mythology so it made sense skulls would be a prime symbol in Tokyo Sea’s setting. I know Indy fears snakes. But not all snakes are dangerous. I bet the fear of snakes stems from the fact they don’t have limbs. If this feathered serpent has wings, I’m sure it would dim his fear down a bit 😂

Riding it you don't really noticed it is missing. It it less epic but more eerie so I think it works.
You don’t even notice the music missing on ride.

The dart room with the skeletons is my favorite part

I never noticed the “intended route” passage before! Thanks for pointing it out!
Actually wow there’s a lot ive never noticed.
Good job on the comparison of the two Attractions. Great reference screenshots to. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the comment!
This is neat having both of these differences of the rides broken down.
I know right! I thought it would be a much bigger hit
The ride from Disneyland combined with the exterior presentation (giant pyramid and piles of skeletons) of Tokyo would make the ultimate attraction
That would make the ultimate attraction I agree.

The music is epic but In a way its immersion breaking. It let's you know this is a tailored adventure. This is definitely over thinking it though.

Bro how do you not have any views this is awesome
I don't know. one day maybe these videos will catch and start to take off.
6 months later and you got ads AND 6k views!
日本ではインドの仏教が広く伝えられているので非日常を味わえないためテーマを変えたのではないでしょうか。待ち列の竹🎋も日本人に馴染みがあります。
10:22 you meant the cobra at Disneyland lol you said “the cobra at Tokyo” ^_^
Darn it. One day I'll get through a video without a mistake.
Disneyland well I got stuck here for one hour and then I was let out of the ride
They really need to bring back the changing doors effect so the temple layout reflects the map in Indy’s office.
Great video, also here are some suggestions: all of the Jungle Cruise & WDW and Disneyland’s Jingle cruise
I do need to do those.
Oh yeah also you should do all the buzz light year rides
@@wombo8604 something makes me want to do buzz sooner
Great video, you missed mentioning the "Bones" hat-wearing skeleton though, which I believe is only present in California.
I didn't even think of him. I have never noticed him when riding the attraction
Any video where a protractor gets brought out is alright by me lol. Fantastic comparison video!
Thanks, glad you like
I wish Disneyland CA would ditch the rat effect / painted skeletons and copy what Tokyo did with the fire ball & lanterns with darts.
I am surprised they haven't. They seem like fairly simple to add and would add some more life to the attraction
@@ParallelDiscover yeah it blows my mind. I wonder who makes all of these bad decisions at Disney
Like put in a giant angry looking statue of Mara that shoots fire from his eyes and some lanterns on the dart room walls that look like eyes.
I definitely agree
You're about one year too early. Not sure if you've seen it after the recent referb, but they took out the rats.
This video is great, Indy is one of those rides that moves too fast to soak in all of the details. Also nice reference at 11:03
Thanks! Did you see and hear?
@@ParallelDiscover yep i saw the funko jungle cruise boat too haha
It kinda also nods to the old school concept art where the RR, mine car ride, and jungle cruise shared the space
