Great video! I played through this on PS4. But I am interested to explore the world on Switch. I do hate loosing experience on death though. It made it not fun to try new risky things because the punishment was too great. Anyone else hate that? I want to try out the new car in the DLC too. That looks rad. But I would feel like I can’t go drive around crazy because it will cost too much if I crash and die. Is there any way to mitigate loosing so much XP and cash on death?
When you see them able to port games with this kind of quality to the switch. That cloud concept is getting more and more greedy by the minute. People who manage to port games like this are worthy of our praise
Cloud Games on Switch: Hitman, Control and Dying Light 2. I dont believe it is possible to get them with the graphic on switch. i dont like cloud stuff because it makes no sense with the switch but these games aren possible on the switch on a technical side so cloud or nothing. dying light is 6 years old though and i bet it was not an easy task.
Received my copy yesterday and have played about 8 hours or so. It's such a good port. From 6:12 to 6:30 on the video it showed you guys playing the game online with me 😄. I had to look at it again and remembered that I looked at the random person who joined my game online today (Switch up) and did that double crouch while they did the same 🤣. Techland spent a full year pushing new DLC for this game every single month. This is probably one of the most devoted developers out there. They didn't give their to another company to port it to Switch, they did it themselves. I fully support them. I'm glad I preordered this game. It's over 100 hours of pure fun.
Slight correction, over on twitter over the past couple of weeks they have stated that a third party studio did this port but techland also made sure the port was of upmost quality it could be. So they most likely saw or were very close with the porting process while they were/are busy with Dying Light 2. Just goes to show how much passion/dedication/care they have about their own game. Kind of how 4A Games was with their Metro ports, they didn't want anyone else to do it because they cared too much about their games being of top notch quality. Not that they were shitting on other devs but they just care that much about their games.

Gotta get it companies are starting to come around cause the switch is the best it’s not a ps5 or Xbox series x but that portability is on point and I just wish that more companies will do what this company has done o and capcom and cytek
Lmao, so, just because you want to diversify resources for more efficient workload is called laziness? Judging by your comment, that is exactly what you’re alluding to. How can you judge to purchase a game because of who did the port job? Wouldn’t you look to the quality? You do realize that porting games over isn’t always as clear cut, right? The setup, exporting from game engines, and the various platforms and consoles require different challenges, not to mention the technical difficulties as seen with Doom Eternal. The sheer size of Dying Light sure as hell isn’t Doom Eternal, so, you would imagine something like optimization as an example, wouldn’t have been too much of an issue.
This looks so much better than I was expecting! Was waiting for switch version to play through it for the first time, so glad it's not going to be a miserable experience.
@@andreask_me2683 the Switch isn't powerful enough to run the 2nd version on its own hardware, so it has to be a cloud version. At least it's coming to the console! I don't like cloud versions of games so I won't be getting it, but some people will like it and that's better than it not coming to the Switch at all :)
@@Gmill3r One you can physical own, the other is owned by a server and the publisher despite the user PAYING full price. If you don't see the difference, than perhaps you shouldn't be gaming.
@@Gmill3r here is the real answer because kimber wasnt able and being rude: you never "own" a game. If you pay you get the permission to use their software. Doesnt matter if physical or digital. When playing with a cloud version there is a computer in the background rendering the stuff and sending it to your switch. So you need always internet. Really fast internet. The idea being portable is here very limited. The switch is only the display and controller like the stadia stuff. The only good thing about the cloud version you get graphics which arent possible with the switch hardware.

If youd told me that future me would be playing games of this complexity and quality on a handheld while I struggled with the endless battery drain of my lynx and my game gear I'd never have believed you.... A stunning looking game and one I'm on the lookout for.

This is one of the few games I can play forever. And now that the whole game + dlcs were ported to Switch it really put a smile on my face,and surprisingly looks incredible. Just bought the platinum edition on sale

I honestly thought they would have to scale this game back in many more ways than graphical fidelity, but this switch port has just impressed me so much really can't believe it. The performance is pretty amazing given the hardware limitations, but knowing how much support Techland has shown for Dying Light over the years, Switch gamers who love open world action games and / or Zombie survival games are in for a real treat with this title!
I just got the game for Switch a few days ago. I've played it on PC first then PS4 now Switch. After about 8 hours of playing, I still can't believe that this game is running SO well on this platform! I'm actually amazed. Coming from having a Vita and playing the atrocious BL2 port to having a huge game like this on a handheld just amazes me.
This game is one of my favourites. The controls, the atmosphere, the music. Getting chased by volatiles is an absolute nightmare. Nice to see it on Switch. Tech land are one of those developers that treat their fans well.
This port is amazing. Already invested 4 hours into it since yesterday. I personally like the unlocked frame rate, it feels like it runs faster than PS4 and Xbox One at times.
Its does strangely ive noticed it seems a tad bit easier unless thats just me i did finish it 4 times between the xbox and Playstation versions in the past
@@Bammarge2 that could be because its graphics and stuff are slightly toned down but yeah its insane that a tiny little device like the switch can run this game. I've gotten like nearly 3000 hours in dying combining xbox and pc and its easily my favorite game of all time. I was thinking about buying it for my switch to play it on the go as well but knowing switch ports I was skeptical if it would even be worth playing but it looks 10x better than I expected

Something that I think is incredible is how thanks to the EXTREMELY strong art direction, the game looks excellent despite the graphical downgrades. Dying Light is such a beautiful game

I have this game on PS4 so Im not going to get it for switch. But I'm glad this game made it to the handheld because if you like Zombies and have never played this Gem, you are in for a real treat!
*For the newcomers to this game, you can run around in perpetual daylight and farm weapons & items as long as you don't complete the story mission to set the traps, you can even get the Excalibur blueprint and sword early and I forgot where but there is a cave where right outside is some water you dive in to enter and there is a relief package that re-spawns every time you fast travel.*
This could be one of the best ports yet and with all the DLC’s it’s definitely worth the price. The co op is also great I played Hellraid with one guy who had a killer punch and no weapons. One thing I did notice if you play Hellraid and comeback into the normal game your inventory disappears. I was a bit pissed as I had some great weapons, but later found out your inventory actually goes into your safe house stash. Don’t buy GTA buy this.
All in all this is a damn good port for what the game is. I watched Digital Foundry's video as well and what Techland did was impressive. This is obviously one of those handcrafted ports where they put the time in. I'm tired of the "Lower the Res and call it a day" type of ports. Sure this ain't perfect but it's definitely workable. Going to pick up the physical edition for sure now!
yeah I heard about Digital Foundry giving it the switch port seal of approval and then this video by Switch Up just put it over the top. It looks like it could rekindle the experience I had with Left For Dead and Left For Dead 2 back in the day... except it is open world! Man, I can't wait...

I've played Dying Light from my xb1 to my series x. Love it so much. Today I just picked it up on my switch for on the go play 🤙. I got it on sale for $10 on the Nintendo eshop.
Thanks for another great review. Great game and definitly getting the physical copy. You should do a follow up review showing the Following dlc as its huge and driving around knocking over hordes of zombies never gets old and would be good to see how the switch handles it.
Amazing game on the go! It amazes me that grapling hook is more feared enemy then volatiles. Amazing concept, hopefully they keep it that way in sequel

The look of this game reminded me so much of Dead island, and once you said it was made by the same creators it made sense. Now i've gotta pick this up, i'm excited for it
A zombie killer's dream come true. This is a MUST HAVE for me especially with 100% of the extra content available in handheld. This will be my first double dip as I already have this game on the XBox.
I never played this game before i finished the game a view days back on the switch oled and let me tell you this game runs so smooth on the switch i loved the story and the rpg things in the game for me maby the best game i played on switch this year
I have had this game for some time since it came to the Switch and I love it. I bought the physical copy of it instead of the digital and am enjoying the game. What was cool was that all the DLC came with the game so you didn't have to pay for it in the eshop. I have had a couple of issues with it while playing but it smooths out on it's own but other than that, the game is great. I never thought that the game was going to come to the Switch and when I heard that it was being ported to the Switch along with all the DLC's, I was excited. I also played the game online from time to time with my son or with other people and I never had an issue with it. Now I heard that Dying Light 2 is coming to the Switch but on the Cloud version. I have a couple of games on the Cloud version like Resident Evil 7, 8 & the remakes of 2 & 3 and never had much of a problem. Love the game, don't have much issues with glitches nor frame rate which doesn't bother me much as long as I am enjoying the game. Can't wait for the 2nd one to come out so I can buy it & enjoy playing!
I think waiting for a sale is more reasonable, as by then this game will probably be in a better shape than the initial version anyways. And the fact this game's controls are _impacted by the performance_ only helps solidify my statement. Thank you for reviewing it.
I got this on Friday at my local game where they only got in one copy of it so I am so happy I got it! I've played this since launch and to finally be able to play it on the go will be amazing and it looks amazing! I'll be sure to find that sword in the small village straight away!
This game already looks and performs quite excellently on the Switch. What's more is that Techland, or at least the official Dying Light UA-cam channel, enthusiastically stated on the comment section of Digital Foundry's video analysis of the Switch port, that players can expect free post-launch fixes, quality improvement patches, and more!

Picked this up on sale the other day and I’m glad that I did! I own this game on pc, Xbox and now switch! This version is so well done! It’s mind blowing how well this game runs on the switch.
I bought this when it was on sale for about 20 bucks on eshop. After seeing this review for the port I’m glad I made the move on buying it. It might not be a perfect port but it’s a damn good port.

I loved this game on my PS4, and played it to death. it is still amazing today on that platform. Just a shame we get spammed on our Lites by the taxation policies of Nintendo - I buy less games on my switch lite because of it - my recent purchase the full Borderlands experience, another converted favourite, I have waited a long time to buy for less than £15 . But it is a good example, my current PS4 version of this Dying Light was around £12 in a sale as the GOTY edition. Nintendo needs to realise, that if they came in at a lower price point, they would generate more cash - purely as more people would buy. Right nuff said. It is still an epic game. Many developers should take notice of how Techland supported this one.
Yeah, I understand their first party games being pricey (They always seem to keep their value on every nintendo console's lifespan) but third party ports of classic games coming at full price? C'mon man!
Do you know what bugs me? I remember many years ago when people complained a lot about game prices and big publishes and devs threw out the "We have to make the disc. Make the manual, cover and case. We have to pay for shipment to stores etc etc" excuse for increased game prices. Jump to today and we see games costing more on the eshop and other console online stores than most physical versions and their excuse is now "Well games cost a lot to develop, sunshine. Suck it up."

I think people forget that it actually takes more time and effort to port a game (new or old) to a weaker system AND make sure that the game running on weaker hardware still runs well enough to pass as playable and or better than playable. Take the Witcher for example, everyone agrees with the fact that it took wizardry to get it to run as well as it does on switch. In my mind, such an achievement seems a lot harder a task vs getting it to run on most other hardware. I could be wrong, but I do know it still does take time & money to make/port any game whether new or classic.
Always an issue with Nintendo sadly, but definitely for a first time player I think this is great value. Never got all the paid dlcs for PS4 and love the mobile factor so I think I'm getting this ✌️
I've got this game on my Xbox, so not planning to get it on the Switch. It's amazing how this game has evolved since its release. The developer's commitment is high. I'm glad this works well on the Switch. Highly recommend indeed.

I Dont really understand the value metric sometimes. How can a game this long, with all the DLC be less value for money than the very short and more expensive Metroid Dread.
Metroid is one of those games where it caters specifically towards those who are familiar with the franchise, people who are not familiar with it like me, finds metroid games mediocre and not something that i would got out my way to buy it. Now, i'm speaking for myself, not the general gaming populace, so dont flak me for this. I know its one the best games for its fans out there and i'm not going to ruin it for them.
I think they’ve scored it that way because it’s available cheaper now on other platforms (where it’s been available for a few years). It’s not a ‘new’ game. Metroid is and is priced as such too. Though yes; given the amount of content it does look odd again Metroid, but this is a game you can’t buy anywhere else and is a 1st party Nintendo game, which seems to add somehow into the value consideration..

Not gonna lie. Tried playing this game with a friend, and after half an hour we learned zombies have Megaman reactions to spikes, so we just ended up drawing aggro on the neighbourhood and standing on a pylon with spikes around it, watching all the zombies around die comically
The feeling of desolation and the music remind me a lot of 80's horror/post apocalyptic movies. Must be the reason I love this game even though I suck at playing it :)
I easily have over 1 250 hours on dying light on Xbox, and am legend rank 18. And have beaten the game numerous times. Now that It is coming to switch I will be able to play it even more. And have a game my brother ACTUALLY WANTS TO PLAY WITH ME.
Great feedback as always from SwitchUp and Techland did an amazing job, I still remember how good the game is on ps4 and the switch performance is superb, way better than what i expected.
Loved this on PS4 PRO. Obviously you make concessions for the Switch but considering the scale and complexity of this title and the amount of content the fact that it allegedly works, and works well is astonishing. Good on Techland.
Since this game provides all the DLC content, my first advice is to go play that hellraid arcade game in the tower. It's good way to level up your character and get skill points. All the coins to collect in it can be used to buy powerful weapons when you're back in the slums. That way you can have an easier time throughout your campaign.

This port is amazing. Already invested 4 hours into it since yesterday. I personally like the unlocked frame rate, it feels like it runs faster than PS4 and Xbox One at times.
Its does strangely ive noticed it seems a tad bit easier unless thats just me i did finish it 4 times between the xbox and Playstation versions in the past
@@Bammarge2 that could be because its graphics and stuff are slightly toned down but yeah its insane that a tiny little device like the switch can run this game. I've gotten like nearly 3000 hours in dying combining xbox and pc and its easily my favorite game of all time. I was thinking about buying it for my switch to play it on the go as well but knowing switch ports I was skeptical if it would even be worth playing but it looks 10x better than I expected

I have this game on PS4 so Im not going to get it for switch. But I'm glad this game made it to the handheld because if you like Zombies and have never played this Gem, you are in for a real treat!
*For the newcomers to this game, you can run around in perpetual daylight and farm weapons & items as long as you don't complete the story mission to set the traps, you can even get the Excalibur blueprint and sword early and I forgot where but there is a cave where right outside is some water you dive in to enter and there is a relief package that re-spawns every time you fast travel.*
This could be one of the best ports yet and with all the DLC’s it’s definitely worth the price. The co op is also great I played Hellraid with one guy who had a killer punch and no weapons. One thing I did notice if you play Hellraid and comeback into the normal game your inventory disappears. I was a bit pissed as I had some great weapons, but later found out your inventory actually goes into your safe house stash. Don’t buy GTA buy this.

All in all this is a damn good port for what the game is. I watched Digital Foundry's video as well and what Techland did was impressive.
This is obviously one of those handcrafted ports where they put the time in. I'm tired of the "Lower the Res and call it a day" type of ports. Sure this ain't perfect but it's definitely workable.
Going to pick up the physical edition for sure now!

yeah I heard about Digital Foundry giving it the switch port seal of approval and then this video by Switch Up just put it over the top. It looks like it could rekindle the experience I had with Left For Dead and Left For Dead 2 back in the day... except it is open world! Man, I can't wait...

Oh god.. Dying light on the go is one of those dreams i had for a long time.. For me dying light is the perfect hack & slash first person. It will never come to german eshop but i will import it

I've played Dying Light from my xb1 to my series x. Love it so much. Today I just picked it up on my switch for on the go play 🤙. I got it on sale for $10 on the Nintendo eshop.
Thanks for another great review. Great game and definitly getting the physical copy. You should do a follow up review showing the Following dlc as its huge and driving around knocking over hordes of zombies never gets old and would be good to see how the switch handles it.

I never played this game before i finished the game a view days back on the switch oled and let me tell you this game runs so smooth on the switch i loved the story and the rpg things in the game for me maby the best game i played on switch this year
I have had this game for some time since it came to the Switch and I love it. I bought the physical copy of it instead of the digital and am enjoying the game. What was cool was that all the DLC came with the game so you didn't have to pay for it in the eshop. I have had a couple of issues with it while playing but it smooths out on it's own but other than that, the game is great. I never thought that the game was going to come to the Switch and when I heard that it was being ported to the Switch along with all the DLC's, I was excited. I also played the game online from time to time with my son or with other people and I never had an issue with it. Now I heard that Dying Light 2 is coming to the Switch but on the Cloud version. I have a couple of games on the Cloud version like Resident Evil 7, 8 & the remakes of 2 & 3 and never had much of a problem. Love the game, don't have much issues with glitches nor frame rate which doesn't bother me much as long as I am enjoying the game. Can't wait for the 2nd one to come out so I can buy it & enjoy playing!
I cannot wait for another playthrough, this time on the go! Also I've never played the DLC, so there's also that. :)

I think waiting for a sale is more reasonable, as by then this game will probably be in a better shape than the initial version anyways. And the fact this game's controls are _impacted by the performance_ only helps solidify my statement.

I got this on Friday at my local game where they only got in one copy of it so I am so happy I got it! I've played this since launch and to finally be able to play it on the go will be amazing and it looks amazing! I'll be sure to find that sword in the small village straight away!

Picked this up on sale the other day and I’m glad that I did! I own this game on pc, Xbox and now switch! This version is so well done! It’s mind blowing how well this game runs on the switch.

I’ve been playing this for a few hours now and honestly the pop in and lower graphics aren’t very noticeable when you aren’t actively looking for it.
I bought this when it was on sale for about 20 bucks on eshop. After seeing this review for the port I’m glad I made the move on buying it. It might not be a perfect port but it’s a damn good port.
Hunting down zombies on the go and running to the safe house whenever the sun begin to set would be fun!
But, but you get 2x X.P. at night 👌

I loved this game on my PS4, and played it to death. it is still amazing today on that platform. Just a shame we get spammed on our Lites by the taxation policies of Nintendo - I buy less games on my switch lite because of it - my recent purchase the full Borderlands experience, another converted favourite, I have waited a long time to buy for less than £15 . But it is a good example, my current PS4 version of this Dying Light was around £12 in a sale as the GOTY edition. Nintendo needs to realise, that if they came in at a lower price point, they would generate more cash - purely as more people would buy.
Right nuff said. It is still an epic game. Many developers should take notice of how Techland supported this one.
Yeah, I understand their first party games being pricey (They always seem to keep their value on every nintendo console's lifespan) but third party ports of classic games coming at full price? C'mon man!
Do you know what bugs me?
I remember many years ago when people complained a lot about game prices and big publishes and devs threw out the "We have to make the disc. Make the manual, cover and case. We have to pay for shipment to stores etc etc" excuse for increased game prices.
Jump to today and we see games costing more on the eshop and other console online stores than most physical versions and their excuse is now "Well games cost a lot to develop, sunshine. Suck it up."
Thats the thing about good switch ports, they take a lot of time and resources to make, so they end up increasing the price of old games
@@shodanargie1574 I agree... I think people forget that it actually takes more time and effort to port a game (new or old) to a weaker system AND make sure that the game running on weaker hardware still runs well enough to pass as playable and or better than playable.
Take the Witcher for example, everyone agrees with the fact that it took wizardry to get it to run as well as it does on switch. In my mind, such an achievement seems a lot harder a task vs getting it to run on most other hardware. I could be wrong, but I do know it still does take time & money to make/port any game whether new or classic.
Always an issue with Nintendo sadly, but definitely for a first time player I think this is great value. Never got all the paid dlcs for PS4 and love the mobile factor so I think I'm getting this ✌️
I've got this game on my Xbox, so not planning to get it on the Switch.

I Dont really understand the value metric sometimes. How can a game this long, with all the DLC be less value for money than the very short and more expensive Metroid Dread.
Metroid is one of those games where it caters specifically towards those who are familiar with the franchise, people who are not familiar with it like me, finds metroid games mediocre and not something that i would got out my way to buy it. Now, i'm speaking for myself, not the general gaming populace, so dont flak me for this. I know its one the best games for its fans out there and i'm not going to ruin it for them.
I think they’ve scored it that way because it’s available cheaper now on other platforms (where it’s been available for a few years). It’s not a ‘new’ game. Metroid is and is priced as such too. Though yes; given the amount of content it does look odd again Metroid, but this is a game you can’t buy anywhere else and is a 1st party Nintendo game, which seems to add somehow into the value consideration..

Not gonna lie. Tried playing this game with a friend, and after half an hour we learned zombies have Megaman reactions to spikes, so we just ended up drawing aggro on the neighbourhood and standing on a pylon with spikes around it, watching all the zombies around die comically

The feeling of desolation and the music remind me a lot of 80's horror/post apocalyptic movies. Must be the reason I love this game even though I suck at playing it :)

I easily have over 1
250 hours on dying light on Xbox, and am legend rank 18. And have beaten the game numerous times. Now that It is coming to switch I will be able to play it even more. And have a game my brother ACTUALLY WANTS TO PLAY WITH ME.
Hopefully a update will smooth out the framerate but not a terrible port!
Digital foundry did a video on it and developers said there is going to be a patch for it so its going to be even better

I hope Techland keeps the framerate uncapped. When a more powerful Switch comes along, the new chip should boost the framerate to 60fps.

Great feedback as always from SwitchUp and Techland did an amazing job, I still remember how good the game is on ps4 and the switch performance is superb, way better than what i expected.
Sounds good, seems about on par with how Witcher was for me. Crysis and Dying Light describe my wallet now

Loved this on PS4 PRO. Obviously you make concessions for the Switch but considering the scale and complexity of this title and the amount of content the fact that it allegedly works, and works well is astonishing. Good on Techland.

Since this game provides all the DLC content, my first advice is to go play that hellraid arcade game in the tower. It's good way to level up your character and get skill points. All the coins to collect in it can be used to buy powerful weapons when you're back in the slums. That way you can have an easier time throughout your campaign.
