  • A deceptively hard question! If you're interested in a mock midwifery interview with me, please email ellie@midwifediaries.com

This video is from a course I made for aspiring midwives to prepare for interviews: bit.ly/3sh1Xu9

Thank you Ellie. I was finding the answer to such a significant question rather daunting, but you have clarified my thoughts and helped me to come up with the right answer for me.

Hi Ellie! Could you please do a video for preceptors, and what to expect or how to prepare. Starting my first job as a fully qualified midwife next week after a 4 month gap and feel like I've forgotten everything!

I have watched a few of your videos surrounding the interviews, but it now feels more daunting! I work as a special needs early years TA without doing an access course, so am worried that they'll feel I should be working with children and not women because all of my transferable skills and experience have been from working with children.

Hannah I am in the exact same position! I've been working in early years for a long time. If you show your passion, dedication, and that you've researched and read about midwifery as well as your transferable skills, I'm sure they will love you. I'm hoping for the same thing as I've just applied for this year as well. People who work in early years are some of the most compassionate and hardworking folk, the long hours translates to midwifery, and the knowledge of early development and psychological theories will be so beneficial in your interactions with new parents. Trust yourself, you've got this

@@keiramadeiracake thank you! It helps to know other people in the same position, you’re right, need to focus on the positives and what I can bring to the role from experience in early years. I have actually now got 3 offers of interview so I’m really excited but nervous for them. Hope everything goes well for you x

Bit late to this, but I was wondering, can you specifiy at this stage of the interview of your end goal? So if you have a specific field you are particularly interested in? For me it's perinatal MH, so I'm also applying for MH nursing.
