yes exactly and yet people out there complain that we don’t work and we get money from government but only a small amount its never enough but the problem is they dont accept us or they dont want us to hire to work from the either they need to change and accept us to
People with disabilities ARE STILL PEOPLE & I can't comprehend how some able-bodied people make fun of something out of their control it's so messed up. Spread more love & positivity!
How I wish Singapore as a society can be more inclusive to people with disabilities. There have been changes made, like ramps installed on buses for and more slopes for people with wheelchairs. But what we can do is a change of heart and mindset - one that is willing to reach out a helping hand when we see them in need and to make them feel safe.
I hope the general public looks at the person carefully before throwing that "Are you blind?" sarcasm. It's just so rude, and if they said yes, then you're just stuck there as the asshole who just scolded a blind person.
Stephanie mentioned something really important: society believes that the disabled should be grateful for what their are given. I have the exact same disability but only in the 2 second stage (with doesn’t affect you as much as Stephanie’s). I remember the kids in pre K being distant with me due to the fact that I couldn’t participate in all activities. I mean you can’t do anything about it. God has a plan for you even if it seems unfair, however that forges our individuality and uniqueness . So should we be grateful only to have people judge us because we are different? NO absolutely not ! Everyone has their own issues and rights. I think the thing we should be the most grateful for, is to be have given a chance at life even if sometimes it really sucks. most people or society in general who think we should be grateful won’t even be able to last a day in our shoes (in my opinion of course)
*Please note that a mistake was made in our subtitles. At 13:34, Stephanie says "inspirational porn thing" - "Inspirational bonding" is incorrect. We apologise for this error.
walao eh, came home from work and chilling on youtube and suddenly hit by the feel train on this episode... and what kind of sick bastard 7:40 pray for a disabled to be even more disabled???
Everybody needs to be educated about this issue by watching this video. These convos needs to be surfaced regularly to urge people in our society to be aware of their biases and take small proactive steps to make our society a better place
OGS, thanks for your amazing videos time after time, the perspectives and angles that you guys put together has been so authentic and reflective. keep it going guys!
Disabled people are being loved. We all have different disabilities, even the ones that seemed to be “normal” on the outside. We are all disabled in some way or another. Thank you for this video, it reignited my love for people with different needs...
hi! my name is Abdul, im a disable person in wheelchair, and i fine Singapore has come a long way compared to like 50 or 60 years ago where there is no lifts, ramps and where disables only kept at home, unlike now where there is such facilities and also some jobs that are willing to come up and take us disables and treat us as normal and not making us think as we are like that we can't do anything with said that i think Singapore has much more to learn when compared to other country like Taiwan and wish that even more jobs will be open for us disables
Hello Abdul, I have a school assignment regarding the disabled in which i have to ask some questions regarding how recreational centres in Singapore have been useful. Let me know if you are interested! Thank you very much :)
Thank you so much for making this video!! and to the people featured in it who are so real in their responses :) So many insightful and important points made, especially with regards to our society still having a 'charity mindset' towards PWDs. Really hope we can treat them as equals and really think twice before we cast an offhanded remark which can be rude or insensitive! :_)
Inspiring and uplifting. They are amazingly self effacing when dealing with difficult comments and actions. Happy they seem to thrive with the challenges they face.
I hope Singaporeans or pple who stays here can have more empathy to pple with disabilities, they deserve to be like anyone of us. Thank you OGS for another amazing story!
Thanks for giving us the POV of all the special person who appeared in the video. May us can reflect how privileged we are and how we can treat them better
I think you may have missed an important point. Stephanie and Joan talked candidly and pointedly about not being used by some as a kind of inspiration, nor should disabled people be some pathetic baseline of how bad life can be. They do not exist just so you can use their misfortune to see how privileged you are because you can walk, see, hear, whatever. We are not all depressed, lonely, and waiting to die; we are out working, traveling, taking care of our families, and contributing to society. Do not use us to make yourself feel better about yourself.
a sincere thank you OGS and all the interviewees ♥️ for all the efforts put into producing this video, and for all the courage needed to speak up in this video. much love!
i hope that singaporeans or basically people in general would be more open to disabled people. it's fine if you feel uncomfortable with them but just don't disrespect them. they are people who still has rights. obviously not all people can be nice but being respectful and nice to them won't hurt. also, thank you for making this video as this can be an eye opener for more people in how disabled people can feel. i really appreciate this :)
Can you do a video about people with mental health issues choosing or avoiding love relationships and marriage? If they are in relationships or marriage, can you also include their partners in the video, sharing about how they manage situations when there are episodes of being mentally unwell?
I really love all of your videos.. they disrupt what we are used to(growing up in 90s). Your content really show how powerful media can be. Thank you guys!!
Seriously this channel deserves way more views and subscribers. Quality content that brings up important conversations in our society. Keep going guys!
thank you so much for this video! its inspiring and we got to know more about disabled people and what they actually want. i think we should accept them as normal human beings, i dont get why people can be so rude to tease them! THEYRE ALSO HUMAN 💖
I never thought about how taking the bus must be difficult for the visually impaired. I feel ashamed that I never thought about it, and shame that we don't have the facilities in our public transport to support them. It's good I guess that there are improvements being made compared to 20 years ago, but we are not living 20 years ago. It's inexcusable and embarrassing to be internationally renowned as a modern, first world country while we can't even equally mobilise all our citizens on public transport - especially with something as simple as just announcing the stops!! Thank you OGS for providing us with such wonderful content as usual 😊
We should really wake up our idea and try to be more understanding towards everyone and empathise with people. We really don't know how much sufferings people may be going through and still try their best to lead a fruitful and normal life to the fullest.
I.was born with degenerative bone disease that affects my mobility that requires me to use either a walker or a wheelchair to help me get around like other people. As a kid struggling to find a way to fit in like the other kids, I was usually found sitting alone under a tree (weather permitting) reading a book or in the library sitting at a table reading a book, while the other kids were running out playing on the playground that wasn't disabled friendly unlike it is nowadays. When the other students were going out on different field trips .I would have to remain at the school because none of the school busses were accessible to me unlike it is nowadays. At home. I was treated just like the.other family members. As I got older and went off to college out of state (something that my aunt didn't want), I had found a way to live just like everyone else for the most part, and found someone who accepts that I am a little different from his previous girlfriends
My brother has an extremely rare genetic disorder, He cannot eat, drink, walk, talk, hear or swallow in large proportions and he doesn’t have complete control of his brain, which means he is always very tense. When we found out about it, my parents had to take him to NUH because it was so uncommon only the doctors there knew what to do with him. He now has a feeding tube going to his nose and wears hearing aids in his waking hours. He draws a lot of stairs when we go out, and I find myself glaring back at everyone who stares at him, but I’m scared of what might happen to him when he gets older. If anyone sees this and has knowledge of this topic, please reply to me. Edit: he’s 9 and I’m 12
I happens to befriend a lady, more than 10 years ago. Ended up we became BFF....she is disabled and i'm just a normal guy. She is very patient with me. She will guide me to look at the perspective from a disabled person. From there, I feels that they are just like any other human being, just that they have short fall on certain areas. Everyone has their own short fall, be it mentally or physically. When I watch this program, most of them commented they had different looks from the public and also comment on ....I quote," U should be grateful...." From my views, i should say, most of the people are surrounded by normal/ abled ppl. They mixed with ppl of their kind, hence they feel is a norm.... The Govt. should play an impt role, by educating the public, disabled person is not a bagger, they just want to be treated fairly and be proud to be Singaporeans...(I think this program should broadcast on Cna, Channel 8, Channel U & Channel 5) This will reach out to a wider audience , to let the public understand how THEY Feels.
Trust me, every body in this world has their own issue or problem. You guys might have physical disabilities but others who have "perfect" Body must have another "disability". So never think it's end of your life okay? Maybe you don't have something but others also don't have something. We are same
People without disabilities too sometimes find it difficult to fit in the sociaty. I'm chinese by ethnic but raised by malays, hence i don't speak a word of chinese. The chinese neighbours find it peculiar to see their ethnic speak fluent malay and zero chinese. The malays also responded the same..so i guess i'm on the sideline of two ethnics..funny how life works..
8:35 I can totally empathise... I'm 30 now, a husband and a father... and some mean things that secondary school classmates said to me 15 years ago still ring in my head from time to time. Some people can be so nasty.
and yet people out there complain that we don’t work and we get money from government but only a small amount its never enough but the problem is they dont accept us or they dont want us to hire to work from the either they need to change and accept us too

Check out the links in our description to find out ways to support people with disabilities. :)
yo hiiiiiiiii
I'm really touched and teary watching this
Stephanie brought up a good point.
Some people think that disabled should be grateful to society and just follow what they have been given
yes exactly and yet people out there complain that we don’t work and we get money from government but only a small amount its never enough but the problem is they dont accept us or they dont want us to hire to work from the either they need to change and accept us to
Yeah this hit me hard.
All these folks truly need is empathy, not sympathy.
People with disabilities ARE STILL PEOPLE & I can't comprehend how some able-bodied people make fun of something out of their control it's so messed up. Spread more love & positivity!

the people themselves already tripped over the cane, they also have bad vision 🤣
the people that tripped over the cane: oi u blind ah
also the people: couldn't see the cane and tripped over it

right...and he's just laughing as he mentioned the incident like...i think I would have cried on the spot
Some people really need to learn that "some things are better left unsaid"
