Why in the world are you free-cutting that instead of using a large clamped guide square? And why are you doing it right next to your table top? You could make a mistake and damage the table. You have no need to cut there. Once you measure take it to the shop to make the cut.

I would say most would not wax their pasta boards.
Woodglut instructions is nice for that.
Woodglut has a lot of designs to choose from.
I probably wouldn’t. The more porous nature of the unwaxed wood would be better for rolling damp dough out on.
