Does anyone realize Ben Stiller was in Joaquin Phoenixs' movie and that's why he's dressed like him. Everyone saying it's a diss or who's laughing now look like idiots because they clearly didn't get the joke.
Its funny that after Joker there are so many people hopping on a bandwagon and defending Joaquin at all cost.
@@mysoncrumphaseveryinjury3853 sad!
@@mysoncrumphaseveryinjury3853 Im getting kind of tired of Joaquin Phoenix because of his annoying people
Fuck Yeah
yea, well said! FANS will be fans...
They can make fun of Joaquin all they want. But what he did was very clever. He fooled everyone on Letterman that he was crazy. What a legend.
Ben Stiller was in on the joke
I used to regard him as one of the greatest but uses cheap publicity stunts just like everyone else
for what purpose
@@parthnigam916 not really, everyone shit all over for what, so he fooled everyone, what a guy, like cmon just look it up he didn’t for publicity
"You just wanted to make fun of me"
Yes he should get what he deserves.
Even everyfucking one who laughed.
You don’t even know what you’re saying
And 11 years later it comes full circle. Joaquin Wins for Joker after Stiller does the Phoenix 'bit' the year Heath won.
:O
also the most recent batman was laughing in the audience at 1:28 behind aunt may
Man what a strech.
@@rjmb16 i was like is that marisa tomei? But I did not see Edward Cullen
That’s really not “coming full circle”
the one who filmed this ceremony truly does not deserve any cinematography oscar lol
Thats the joke
True
lmaoo
what the fuck
Wow. Joaquin Phoenix actually manages to be funnier than Ben Stiller.
funny enough
FUN FACT: Bem Stiller insisted Joaquin Phoenix for the mockumentary, I'm Still Here.
He's playing a fictionalised version of himself in preparation for 'I'm Still Here', this was not an 'Oscar bit'
Yup, he definitely does and I am not talking about this video
Annie...
0:57 So cool to see Philip Seymour Hoffman working hard to not laugh! He was damn talented, I miss him!
First time a film shot all on digital won best cinematography
They need to get Ben Stiller back as a presenter. His costumes and stuff were the best. This, his Navi getup, the green screen suit
Don't forget when he dressed up as Gimli, while Owen Wilson appeared as Harry Potter!
Joaquin Phoenix will give joker an another Oscar.
Your words became real... Hehe.. Awesome buddy..
He did it
Joker is overrated. 🤷♂️
Slumdog Millionaire has great cinematography.
Times change
An idiot talks like that. You clearly do not know anything.
@@DanielMazahreh says the one who likes his own comment.....
Daniel Mazahreh oof you got shit on
I believe this award was between Slumdog Millionaire and The Dark Knight
I love how UA-cam exclusively recommends me videos of Ben Stiller at the Oscars
I think most of the people saying that the Dark Knight should have won haven't even seen Slumdog Millionaire.
The Dark Knight is my favourite movie of all time but Slumdog deserved to win that.
dark knight your fav movie of all time...that says a lot lol
@@Den9iel Well some have Infinity War as their favorite movie, or any Marvel movie, so TDK isn't a bad choice
@@Den9iel and you don't need to have an Eisentein movie as your favorite to be cinephile.
Well thay depends on which category....
I have seen both. The Dark Knight got robbed. Go screw yourself!
1:30 Robert pattinson in the back. Very much excited for the batman.
Slumdog looks epic.
It really really is
"The Dark Kinhgt" probably should have won. No other film had ever been shot in IMAX this way.
3 years later -- Dunkirk.
Have you seen slum dog millionaire?
Joaquin Phoenix is a fucking legend.
Ray Velcoro its Ben Stiller
looks like someone didnt get the reference
@@birdman6815 explain
And the oscar for the best actor goes to Joaquin Pheonix♥️♥️♥️
That very dialogue is enough to give you goosebumps♥️
who's is laughing now?.... arthur fleck
This is literally the masses laughing at him just like in Joker. I'm so glad he's one of this biggest stars on earth now
@@Rxmzy dude, Ben Stiller is his friend. He knew that Phoenix did that mockumentary
Could you please tell me what Joaquin Phoenix had done that they made fun of him?
@@amirleo2051 At one time Joaquin seems as if he was crazy in real life and said he's retiring from acting to be a rapper. He even made a concert as a rapper. Ben Stiller is mimicking his crazy attitude here. It turns out that it was all just acting for a mockumentary Joaquin made with his brother in-law (then) Casey Affleck. His acting was so good, people thought it was real.
What *Erna Herlina* said. Basically, around 2009 Joaquin announced that he was retiring from acting and pursuing a hip-hop career. For about a year, he acted/looked strange and people thought he was on drugs or had gone bonkers! Turns out, it was all for a mockumentary he had made with Casey Affleck, which was released in 2010.
Natalie Portman is the most underatedly breathtaking woman on earth. Yeah that's right, I said breathtaking.
Geez, Natalie Portman is the definition of BEAUTIFUL 🤩 can’t stop looking at that dress and gorgeous face ❤
Show the one where Jeremy Renner makes a face when Life of Pi wins Oscar for best special effects over the Avengers.
2:03 Breaking Bad
For god's sakes, give Roger an Oscar. Please.
NOW they did.
Now they did again.
😥
He's got 2.
He's covered.
This is what the show itself is missing today; life; the people walking in the foreground adds to the overall atmosphere. You don't see this in the show today; it feels controlled to the point where everyone in the room seems like robots, whether it being the way the conductor smiles excessively or the way they won't allow any seats to be shown as empty. The Oscars need some happy little accidents... to add the sense of life.
"Cinema is the wind in the trees" - DW Griffith
FUN FACT: Ben Stiller was the one who INSISTED on doing a tired Joaquin Phoenix bit and was pretty much jerk about it during rehearsals.
FUNNIER FACT: Joaquin Phoenix was just fucking with everybody
@@Wolfgangus_Theophilus ben was in I'm still here with joaquin! They all knew!
The public didn't.
thanks for the earlier link to the 1964 video Oscars. One award i would really like to see is Robert F Boyle receiving his honorary oscar in 2008 mainly because he was 99 at the time and i just want to see what he said.
that was great i remember the next year ben stiller dressed up as a navii
1. The Dark Knight
2. Slumdog Millionaire
3. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
4. The Reader
5. Changeling
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button should be above Slumdog Millionaire. Curious Case had wonderful cinematography that was more memorable then Slumdog’s.
@@ronaldmcdonald2817 yes it is so stunning man. Claudio mirando gave some beautiful images throughout the entire movie
@@premiersketches3900 Definitely great work.
@@ronaldmcdonald2817 I know Right! but it happens we can't change it anymore.
Exactly what was outstanding about the cinematography of The Reader?
What a ridiculous nomination.
Nothing was outstanding about that sappy, fantastical and manipulative mess of a movie. I've seen the movie twice and the only decent part of it is Winslet's performance (and also Fiennes' performance to an extent).
gain al I'm pretty sure it was nominated just because of Roger Deakins' involvement. Which should have been rewarded with "Revolutionary Road" instead because some of the work he did in that was astounding.
Rewatched Slumdog again last night after seeing the film ten years ago..Remarkable in every imaginable way. Perhaps one of the most perfect films ever made..The pathetic Rotten Tomatoes only scored a 91..At least a 100 and maybe a 191 !!! Glorious and magnificent.
It was very good but not a masterpiece to my eyes, the movie is hella overrated. 100% you say? No freaking way. This is no Richard linklater movie or Wes Anderson flick, the film isn't that worthy to match the creative art that are Anderson's and Linklater's films
The movie failed to show the whole country, but only as a slum town. A major disappointment for that.
It was good but Dark Knight was the true best movie of 2008. Here we are in 2024 and nobody talks about Slumdog millionaire
This film really deserved this award.
Oscars could you please upload the video of Vivien Leigh winning Best Actress for Gone with the Wind? It's my all-time favorite movie, featuring my all-time favorite performance! I (and many others, I'm sure) would greatly appreciate it!
Dod Mantle's wife is smokin'.
I honestly think this was the classiest year
We all know Joaquin was joking, but what if he wasn't? The industry would have been mocking someone who quite clearly was struggling mentally. 10 years later and I think society's reaction would be one of genuine concern.
1:29 Is that Aunt May?
And batman
@@produck2002 voila
The question should be Is that Batman behind Aunt May?
0:06 Wolverine
0:27 Mighty Thor
No.. Its Marisa Tomey.
11 years later, he gets an Oscar.
Those days are good because Oscar deserve who actually really deserves it.
They were _really_ getting a kick out of the Phoenix parody.
Everyone forgot Natalie portman 😭😭
What was it about this Oscar year that was so damn memorable lol. I loved this bit haha
Nice touch with the Lawrence of Arabia score..!
Freddie Young ♥️
Philip hoffman ❤️❤️😭😭
truly deserving.. it would hav turnd out worst if he didnt had the vison to shoot in india where everything is happening everywhere.. it could hav gone all worng bt he managed it the best way possible n showed us lil but every min of the scene was worth hours n hours to understnd the life of slums n the nothing is impossible if u hav the desire n passion to learn. hats off to that idea of collabration n script, it still is one of the best indian movie ive watched so far..
I honestly thought it was Joaquin Phoenix

Nikal lawde Pheli Fursat Mein Nikal !
A huge win for digital cinematography.
Why is everyone talking about this dude. Talk about slumdog millionaire that movie was fricken amazing
This isn't so funny anymore, now that we know Joaquin's retirement was a prank.
Well it worked then. Maybe to some it stills works.
It was never funny. All that segment did was to continue tarnish Joaquin's image. His prank should be his prank only. No one should replicate his signature style.
@@craigledger4645 But when they did that bit, they didn't know Joaquin was doing a prank.
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that the letterman appearance was a prank.
I saw it online the day after it came out and my friend said “ya, him and ben afflecks brother are making a mockumentary and messin’ with the media”
So ya, first time this ive seen this oscars stunt, and find it quite entertaining.
Ben stiller was in I’m still here, he was in on it and had a good time with Joaquin Phoenix, now take my word for it, but I’m sure he would’ve asked Joaquin if it was okay, and I’m sure that Joaquin would loved it as it would have added to the surreal nature of the film
Wow+ just wow NATTIE 💝
"the cinematography the nominees are" lolll
The oscar goes to the guy who was making his way back to the front row as the winner was going to be announced..
Joaquin Phoenix!!,xDD loool
I have to thank my journal
Cool dude Dod Mantle
Anyone knows which movie that the song that is played when he was going up the stage?
Thats oscar theme
It's hard to believe that slumdog millionaire beats Dark Knight.
do you even know what cinematography is?
hollywood and their unfunny jokes
Did you get it ?
Or didn't you watch Joaquin interview with david letterman 2008
It was relevant at the time
It was very unfunny. Because at the time, everyone thought that Joaquin Phoenix fell off the rails. They had no clue that a brilliant actor created a character based on society’s obsession with pop culture. I hope the same people who laughed at him kiss his ass come Oscar time.
I still think Simple Jack is funny
@@JaxxStarr81 Nope.
The only people fooled by the Mockumentary was the public. A lot of people in Hollywood, including Stiller (who helped Joaquin and Casey Affleck on the fucking thing) were in on it and knew it was a joke. So, yes, it is funny.
Am I wrong or at 0:56 you can clearly see Philip Seymour on the low right angle? I thought he died at the beginning of February.
+Vylkeer Yes, 0:56 that's Philip Seymour Hoffman and yes, he died on February 02, 2014. But if you read the fucking title, you'll see that these Oscars were held in 2009.
redlightmax thanks for your accurate and kind explanation.

These guys are making joke of Joaquin phoenix......the last time he made a joke as a 🃏 it blew someone's mind!!
These jokes they pull off at the Oscars every year are not funny and they never were. They look so staged.
They are staged.
Simon Havelock I know and it's too obvious.
Winduct It's supposed to be obvious, it's a sort of ironic comedy.
Simon Havelock I know but it shouldn't be this obvious and forced.
The humor is cringe worthy. What happened to class? Leave this bullshit to the MTV awards.
It's the biggest night of someone's life and he has to be part of a Ben Stiller bit. Win, fail.

Dark knight deserved this award
Agree with you, It has some great visuals 💓
Watching this in 2019 . Laughed so hard. But almost burst into tears when ever I hear about Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. So sad.
Wait, what..... Why? Is he ok? I freaking love that movie. He was awesome as the Joker
Steve Toth Heath Ledger passed away before The Dark Knight was released in cinema.
The Dark Knight should’ve won full stop.
No
what about Dark Knight!!!
4:02 rip sir
I loved Slumdog Millionaire so much and I always enjoy watching it. Yeah, it has also a great cinemaotgraphy, but for me The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (or The Dark Knight) should have won this award.
For me it was, only The Dark Knight was more spectacular! Considering all the movies directed by Danny Boyle, anyway, Slumdog Millionaire has the best cinematography (and for me it also remains is best film, even if most of movie fans will say Trainspotting).
