We Put My Lamborghini Huracan On a Dyno! (Hub vs Roller Dyno Comparison)

  • Well, last time we had our LP610-4 on a roller type dyno, she put out an underwhelming 400awhp.. However considering it runs a 10.6-10.8 second quarter mile, we figured this seemed very low.
Now since I sold the car a few months ago, I begged my friend Graham to borrow it back for a couple of days to make some more videos (THANKS G-MAN!).
This time we took her down to GT Auto Garage, and tried it out on a HUB type dyno..
The intake air temps were very high considering the location of the air intakes (behind the doors), compared to when it's on a normal highway. We were reading 60 C (140 F) at the intake, so this may contribute to why the mid engine layout gets average dyno results compared to front engine cars.
At any rate, our results were substantially different to the previous dyno. We hope you enjoy our video!
Note: Please remember that dyno's are really only useful as a tuning tool, or direct comparison to other vehicles on that exact same dyno, in the same weather, on the same day.. Every dyno reads differently, and factors such as "how hard it was strapped down" comes into effect (on a roller dyno).. For this reason, don't be too concerned about what your car throws down on your local dyno and try to compare that to everyone else on the internet..
It's a good indicator, but it's the drag strip and track that the real comparisons should be done :)

This car just proves that hp isnt everything. 13 years ago we had a 450hp bmw e36 with a single turbo chevy v6 with 5 link suspension and autobox with 10" inch drag slicks that ran a best time of 9.3

absolutely.. a lot of it comes down to the launch for this car. Our best 60ft time was 1.6 seconds, which is incredible for a stock car on street tires (not even semi slicks).. As for your BMW, that would have been hell light for those times! Well done :)

Street FX Motorsport TV it was a full drag car. It even made a few wheelies on the launch because of the weight transfer onto the back tyres. After the BMW we built a full drag Toyota conquest with a big ass turbo that layed down 510wkw but ran a best time of 10.1 which is slow considering how much power it had because traction was a big issue.

i feel like the 600HP brochure quoted power is actually not too hard to achieve as its only like 350 ATW, a few bolt ons and alot of JDM cars can hit that.

we made 460awhp.. It's still shy of where you'd expect a 600hp car to get.. It should be closer to/over 500awhp... Hold out for our dyno test of the new Nismo R35GTR :)

Runs are supposed to be done in 4th if I’m correct and of course the hub dyno will produce more hp because it doesn’t have to turn the wheels.

That’s crazy is that hub dyno calibrated correctly ? My Camaro LT1 puts down 400 whp on a hub dyno aswell and I run 11.9 in the 1/4. I thought at least 500 wheel out of a huracán

A lot of people focus on peak power when a truer figure is average power across the curve.

Hub rollers are great for tuning but pointless in real world. If you car is losing traction on a roller strap down. It will lose it in real world.

Unsure why you think it makes them any less valid.. In the real world cars are strapped down and have that additional friction holding them to the ground. They are great for some things but I'd rather tuning on a hub dyno especially when you're talking 1000hp stuff
