The part where Alfred and Oracle plead with Batman to save the inmate population while he was heading to go save Talia as the music rises up never fails to give me chills. This game's score is simply amazing!
Only a Batman as powerful as Kevin Conroy could do this theme any justice. Though the man is temporary, his legend is eternal. From the hearts of anyone who ever loved Batman, thank you, Kevin, you will be missed.
Tyger Security Quotes: "Hits successful. Multiple inmate casualties." "Targets are all hit. Sector Four is lit up like a Christmas tree." "Thermal scans of the area are showing fifteen...no...seventeen casualties." "Boom! Scratch twenty more inmates." "Targets are all hit. Casualties in Sector One are topping one hundred." It still gives me goosebumps, because all of Batman's effort and his code of non-murder were being thrown away in front of his eyes and he can't do anything about it, only being able to eliminate the problem at the source of his origin.
notice how arkham city batman chooses talia over gotham's people. and in AK he chooses to sacrifice in the ace chemicals building when it's about to blast in any minute. and then the roles are reversed, alfred insists batman to get out of there and save himself, he replies with; "it's what you taught me alfred, do the right thing. " and that moment was the one to make me feel emotional. man i love arkham series so much. RIP kevin ❤️
We never got a casualty count for Protocol 10. Alfred estimates there to be around 1000 prisoners within Arkham City at one point, Hugo Strange at claims during the event that casualty rates were approaching 22%, and that's at least 10 minutes before Protocol 10 is stopped. If we estimate Prisoners were dying at around the same rate for that amount of time, we can probably estimate the total count to be around 25%. So Strange killed at least 250 people, probably more, in only about half an hour.

Arkham City is always going to hold a special place in my heart. Not only has it always been my favorite Batman game, it holds a little sentimental value to me now since October of last year. I was staying at my grandmother's due to her being in the hospital frequently over the previous 2 months. The idea of Protocol 10 still makes my skin crawl. Seeing the helicopters fire missiles at buildings across the city, like something out a person's worst fears. And the idea of just killing all the prisoners, machine gunning them down, blowing them up with missiles, or having them get crushed to death in rubble caused by the missiles is horrifying to think about. Yes, the population of Arkham City were criminals, but they were still human beings, that's why we get to hear their dialogue while roaming through the city. And some of them were just people who Hugo Strange unlawfully imprisoned without charge, political prisoners he would silence by any means necessary. Gotham City's crime problem needed to be dealt with, but this is appalling.
It's so difficult to explain to some people why Protocol 10 is wrong, almost as difficult as explaining why Batman shouldn't kill people. It's not his job, it's illegal, it's wrong. That they've escaped prison so many times is purely due to the exploits of their bosses, and the corruption of Gotham's leaders. All of these things are interconnected. Strange was a fool for thinking gunning down hundreds of helpless thugs would somehow save Gotham.
Yeah Protocol 10 didn't solve Gotham's crime problem in the end. The leaders of the underworld still lived on. The rich and powerful crooks like The Penguin and Two-Face still were in every sector of Gotham by the time Arkham Knight came around. The Joker died from completely unrelated reasons. Strange was just killing the prisoners of Arkham City just to solve crime the quick and easy way. @@Resi1ience it kinda would plus let’s not forget that Ra’s Al Ghoul was the real mastermind behind Arkham city Strange was just his puppet and then when he didn’t need him anymore he killed him and cut his strings.Strange was just trying to live up to Ra’s Al Ghoul’s expectations.
Do you feel a nostalgia that can't be explained when playing this game for the first time too ? As if you were actually Batman and you visited the same place as him ?
I remember many moons ago when I first played the Arkham games. I was only 8 when Arkham asylum came out and I was actually scared at a few areas of the game. Mostly the morgue and the sewer. Then Arkham city of 2011 that shock the gaming world as everyone know it. I was ten and when I played this masterpiece of a game for the first time I remember feeling literally nothing. The music with the action tied so well that I don’t even remember the goosebumps I had.
God was this a powerful theme. I really wish the protocol 10 part of the game lasted for a bit longer. A second boss fight with Ra’s al Ghul would have been really cool, consider he’s actually the mastermind behind it all. He controlled Strange. Having to fight him again where it’s one on one combat like Deathstroke’s fight from Origins would have been amazing. City is already a near perfect game as it is though. Definitely my favourite of the Arkham series
@@bluejellybeancos honestly, the Mr Freeze Boss Fight was a boss fight that in my opinion, exceeded Origins Boss Fight Level. ( can’t say it tops Deathstroke, however.)
a second boss fight with Ra’s, imagine that! shortly after Ra’s literally stabs Strange in the back, he sends several of his ninjas to distract Batman, before appearing out of nowhere and throwing himself and Batman out of wonder tower - except, there is no explosion. Protocol 10 is still in full force, and there’s gunfire, explosions and death echoing across Arkham City; as Batman and Ra’s battle their way across rooftops, random thugs, TYGER guards and League of Assassins ninjas appear to either aid or attack, both Batman and Ra’s. after fighting their way across several rooftops, Batman throws Ra’s to the ground before grappling into a TYGER helicopter headed to check on Strange. Ra’s grabs onto Batman’s leg and they both grab onto the skis of the helicopter, as Strange activates Protocol 11. The entire wonder tower explodes, sending pieces of shrapnel all over the city and shredding the helicopters’ rotors - Batman loses sight of Ra’s as the helicopter loses control amidst the destruction of Arkham City, the end of Protocol 10, and the death of Strange. Batman then had to find the joker, hidden somewhere in the ruins of the social experiment that was Arkham City.
You fucking kidding me, right ? Batman just stopped the Protocol 10 because he want to protect the Gotham’s people and the political prisioners. Batman is not a villain, he doesn’t care about criminals’s life.
Yes... But he actually wanted to save Talia before trying to stop Protocol 10. Had not been for Oracle and Alfred, there would have been way more dead people in Arkham City (not only prisoners and political prisoners, but also the infiltrated cops in the museum and the medical personnel and their security team).
I think I speak for everyone that is a fan of the Arkham series. Origins, asylum, city, knight. We must find a way to force rocksteady and Warner bros to make suicide squad not canon to these platinum works of art

This to me is what Arkham knight was missing. It has its own version in a way I suppose but this just captures the feels of batman and the inmates desperation so much more. When I replay through Knight I put this on at 3:52 just as Batman and Oracle countdown during the siege on the GCPD so just as the shutter opens and the Bat-tank flies out to face the 62 drone the Brass kicks in! Goosebumps or what.
Invasion Is a dope OST too, but yeah, you don't feel the same. Arkham knight as many moments that gives you goodebumbs, but i think the story is so poorly written that It doesn't matter that much
@@haydenelse2502 It is there, it was simply slightly modified. You can briefly hear it during the predator sequences. You can also look for Vol 1. Arkham Knight Soundtrack: Invasion.
With me, this part played while I tried to go up the tower by the main entrance and the Turrets started shooting at me, so I planned to the area that the game demands, one word: epic
I love seeing how many people hold this game high for sentimental reasons. This game and it’s ending had me in love with the art of it. Storytelling. Shock factors. Dramatic scores. I was in my first year of high school and suddenly knew what I wanted to do with my life. I soon found a dog, adopted her, named her Harley after her oversized and floppy ears, and the fact she’d smile when excited. All these years later, I finally got a chance to pick up Arkham Knight. I beat it, collected all the riddles with my Harley in her urn by my side. Thank you, Batman. For showing me so much.
1:45 At this point in the Soundtrack I started looking for the master code for the locked doors leading to Wonder Tower, and let me say, that when I saw the bodies of the inmates laying dead on the ground as the Choppers were raining fire from the sky. Is when this game became Legendary to me.
One thing that I don’t think gets enough cred in Arkham city is the promotional art that came with the game. Like this art right here screams you’re gonna have badass time in this video game.
4:22 - 5:03 is just so damn gripping. You can literally hear the urgency and the tragedy in knowing that whichever choice he makes, someone will die. Even worse when you hear the callouts over the radio that inmates were being slaughtered en masse and there was nothing he could do about it.
This game’s score nearly perfectly captures Batman. In the same ways that Danny Elfman and Shirley Walker’s scores immediately come to mind when I think of Batman.
2:35 "Oracle, strange is launching missile strikes on arkham city from wonder tower. You shut this place down! Joker's taken Talia. I'm going after them." I love that when protocol 10 started
You know what… I find that Arkham Asylum and Arkham City have aged better than Arkham Knight. In terms of story, game play, and replay ability…. They are much better. Don’t know why. And the Arkham City music is amazing!!! The best for me
You've got buildup for Protocol Ten for the whole game, you tried to stop it, not even knowing what is it. Then it begins, while Joker basically kicks your ass and kidnap Talia. You can hear in the voice of Batman, bruised after whole night of fighting, that even he doesn't know what to do next. Up to this moment, he was always stonewall confident, but now he knows he's in the pile of shit. And then Alfred gets you back on track with the simple, most powerful quote in the game. When I played Arkham City first time like decade ago, that sequence determined this game is 10/10.
For the past five years of my life I have only watched as people go through the Arkham games on UA-cam and now that I have control of that man oh my God it is Awsome!!!! Best game series ever
Arkham city is supposedly set in the middle of Gotham, if that's how bad the middle of Gotham city really looked than no wonder why they chose that place.
Out of all the Arkham games, I revisit this one the most each year. This game has a good soundtrack, just good enough balanced gameplay that’s not too over the top like in Arkham Knight, a decent story, and good characters.
One of the best games I ever played to this day, I still think this game had the best story in the Arkham series. And after a long time of not playing, I forgot how good the music was. It gave me so much chills, first time I tried this at my cousins house. And I fell in love with it, and I just needed to have it. First console I played it on was Xbox 360, then I got it again on ps5 because the game was so amazing. Crazy how everyone in Arkham relies on only one man to save them all 4:23 my favorite part 😣🔥
The quote that best summarized how Batman saw himself "Deep down, Clark is a genuinely good person. And deep down, I'm not" He knows he's a "monster in a mask"
ikr, action adventure games are so good. You get to play as your heroes, your idols. You get to feel like you ARE them, all with sick graphics and gameplay.
"Batman can't let all these people die" It's crazy cause all these people were criminals well also innocent ones put in there by strange but man for alfred to say that is deep and batman knows it that it's the truth. To me this quadrilogy yes counting arkham origins was perfect lot of fond memories and nostalgia and really perfected the open world experience to me these games will always be up there for creative and best games of all time
3:42 This....this right here captures where Bruce is racing.... grappling from helicopter to another...trying to get the "Tyger Master controller" to gain access to Wonder Tower ...his mind racing back and forth trying to figure out how to stop Strange and save Talia at the same time...the music in this game is something else

Batman is not real but the inspiration he brings and the simbol he represent, that is real. And it breaks the line between the fiction and the reality. Keep going hard boys.

Batman meanwhile has been in hiding while the Knightmare Batman which is a combination of Scarecrow and Luthor is out at night killing any criminals he can find and harming TYGER guards. Bruce is on trial and may lose his company and Gordon has gone silent regarding their communications along with Batman's other allies for miscellaneous reasons. But now he must be pulled back out into the spotlight to fight Superman or Gotham will truly become...a City of Fear.
Sorry. I'm tired and this is long and took 30 minutes but it's the best that I could come up with and I feel like it works great! Better than the finale we got.
I used to intentionally get seen by choppers when protocol 10 started, just to hear this.

The music should've played the whole time.
80 years of Batman... I can't help but bring myself to this video. Everything I love about him represented in one song. Is just amazing
Happy 80th to the Caped Crusader!
Climbing wonder tower with this playing and explosions going on was the best gaming experience ive ever had.
Do you feel a nostalgia that can't be explained when playing this game for the first time too ? As if you were actually Batman and you visited the same place as him ?
@@Eliott2410 SAME
so damn true. this game was easily the best gaming experience period.
Salemchevy Gaming same dude I was the exact same age lmao had to beg my parents to get asylum at GameStop
Just imagine City but with Origins boss fights, 11/10 game right there.
@@bluejellybeancos honestly, the Mr Freeze Boss Fight was a boss fight that in my opinion, exceeded Origins Boss Fight Level. ( can’t say it tops Deathstroke, however.)
@@nobleshad I remember being so scared of the Mr Freeze boss fight when I was little lol
@@dragos8839 i was TERRIFIED of the Titan Bane in Origins back in the day. I was so scared, I dont remember if I even beat him
a second boss fight with Ra’s, imagine that!
shortly after Ra’s literally stabs Strange in the back, he sends several of his ninjas to distract Batman, before appearing out of nowhere and throwing himself and Batman out of wonder tower - except, there is no explosion.
Batman then had to find the joker, hidden somewhere in the ruins of the social experiment that was Arkham City.
batman saving criminals from getting exterminated is the coolest thing ever for this character
And innocent political prisoners
Unlike u 47 killing people
You fucking kidding me, right ? Batman just stopped the Protocol 10 because he want to protect the Gotham’s people and the political prisioners. Batman is not a villain, he doesn’t care about criminals’s life.
@@vanillaiceicebaby7427 batman values life, doesn't matter whose that's why he said he'd give joker the cure if he could in spite of everything...

The part after 2:29 gives me chills
I will always love these Arkham City cover arts. They’ve always been and most likely will be my favorite game colors. The color splash mixed with the black and white is unbeatable
Goosebumps or what.
ikr man. i wish they brought this theme back. would of made the game a lot better imo

4:22 love that part as I used the sequencer to enter the facility
Me too bro
With me, this part played while I tried to go up the tower by the main entrance and the Turrets started shooting at me, so I planned to the area that the game demands, one word: epic
Jajaja me too
Thought I was alone
I love seeing how many people hold this game high for sentimental reasons. This game and it’s ending had me in love with the art of it. Storytelling. Shock factors. Dramatic scores. I was in my first year of high school and suddenly knew what I wanted to do with my life. I soon found a dog, adopted her, named her Harley after her oversized and floppy ears, and the fact she’d smile when excited. All these years later, I finally got a chance to pick up Arkham Knight. I beat it, collected all the riddles with my Harley in her urn by my side. Thank you, Batman. For showing me so much.
2:15 IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BATMAN THEME
To be honest, I prefer this one to Hans Zimmer's
4:22 to 5:07
1:45 At this point in the Soundtrack I started looking for the master code for the locked doors leading to Wonder Tower, and let me say, that when I saw the bodies of the inmates laying dead on the ground as the Choppers were raining fire from the sky. Is when this game became Legendary to me.
One thing that I don’t think gets enough cred in Arkham city is the promotional art that came with the game. Like this art right here screams you’re gonna have badass time in this video game.
Apparently the art was made simpler and more striking in an attempt to make the game appeal to a wider audience; I’d say it was a remarkable success.
When that beats drops at 4:10, you know shit is about to happen
This part of the game was absolutely one of the best moments in the franchise
Batman must save Gotham

This is probably one of the best soundtracks in the game, it shows that everything has officially gone to shit and Gotham needs batman more than ever.
4:22 - 5:03 is just so damn gripping. You can literally hear the urgency and the tragedy in knowing that whichever choice he makes, someone will die. Even worse when you hear the callouts over the radio that inmates were being slaughtered en masse and there was nothing he could do about it.
2:14 - When you finally unlock Arkham City's platinum trophy with all DLC included on PlayStation
This game would always hold a special place in my heart. I don’t think there’s gonna be any better game for me than this

This is the definitive Batman theme IMO.
Legendary theme to a legendary game. I was in awe playing this masterpiece. Very good edit, congrats.

Arkham city is supposedly set in the middle of Gotham, if that's how bad the middle of Gotham city really looked than no wonder why they chose that place.
Actually it's on the coast of New Jersey; new Gotham is across from Arkham City.
@The Oak Knight I'm talking about how bad Old Gotham looked.
Is it middle or the northern side ?
