Pikmin 3 Deluxe - All Fruits "glitchless" challenge (Ultra-Spicy|10 days|No deaths)

- I'd start by saying that I'm not really a fan of "glitchless" runs because in my opinion it doesn't bring anything more interesting to the gameplay; however I've been asked many times about this, so here you have a video! I guess the interesting part for me was re-discovering some locations I had not seen for years (for instance, the dark room fully lighted up in FO)
With this challenge I tried to gather all fruits in 10 days in ultra-spicy difficulty "glitchless". Glitchless is a questionable term, and difficult to define for this game. Within this challenge, I will simply define this term as doing the following tasks:
-Building all bridges (including the plat pot in GoH)
-Destroying all walls/gates: brick, reinforced, dirt, electric, crystal. Bamboo gates cannot be destroyed thus do not count.
-Lifting all clipboards
-Lighting all lighting bulbs
-Moving all paper bags
-Building the hay pile in DT
Each day was played separately on stream, and stitched together in this video.

Glitchless is interesting to me at least because it's a comparison to how I would play the game casually. I try to be optimal but I don't have the hours and hours of practice you have so it's awesome to see peak performance constrained the way I would play. Thanks for making this!
It wouldn’t be hard to put in hours if you love the game. Liking it is questionable as I don’t believe people who like Pikmin would put in so many hours like us that love it will.
@@sO_RoNerYPeople can love something and not put in dozens or hundreds (or even thousands) of hours into it for a variety of reasons, passion and love isn’t time gated
I love that the legitimate strategy for Sandbelching Meerslug is just, send in the army and look away, nothing bad can happen if you aren't watching
unless they get sucked into a big sinkhole at the end
Days 5 and 6 were super impressive.
I'm surprised you're so adversed to a glitchless run. You had to put in more work to achieve an equally good result as if you were using glitches. Isn't that a satisfying reward?
I don't think all that you mentioned is really necessary, either, like breaking every single gate or lifting every clipboard ('cause why do it?). I just see it as a category where you can't use glitches to go out of bounds, for example, as that completely breaks the level design.
Hi hawlo
It's difficult to define "out of bounds", for instance some data files require you to go on what can be reasonably considered as out of bounds
@@ice_cube maybe a place you arent allowed to be but exclude those that require it (like your example)
@@ice_cube In my opinion "out of bounds" is when a captain falls into the abyss, takes damage, and respawns, however this definition would still allow some skips like the old dodge whistle strat in DT...
With that definition, you can still skip building the bridge on day 3 by using the snitchbug to go on the ledge and push the 20 ball. You can go to Meerslug early with 2 captains only using the dodge whistle. You can use the clipboard to access Mireclops early on day 6. You can complete Formidable oak the same way we do in runs. Still a lot of things that people would consider "glitches"!
And I thought my 11 day no clip run was impressive... this was absolutely amazing from start to finish! Phenomenal job!
@AUSTIN SCOTT all fruits. An 11 day any% run is not impressive at all, since the fastest any% takes at least 7 days. Fastest all fruit is 10 days.
@@bluetoad6848 What?? My first playthrough on normal took me 21 days and the same for hard mode (currently doing Ultra-spicy). Well, I guess it might be because this is my first real Pikmin game.
I mean, one day away from the best possible time IS impressive.
@@bluetoad6848An 11 day any% run is about as impressive as a five mile minute. Yes, the world record is less than four minutes. No, the overwhelming majority of people can't run a mile that fast.
It's perfectly impressive and you know it, you gatekeeper.
I've waited for a glitchless speedrun, and finally, it's here! 😀
Did you know that an object with (for example) 5 required pikmin can actually be transported by maximum 14 pikmin instead of 10? If you add 4 winged pikmin, they can be a bit faster!
Yes, but actually it's more complicated than that. If you add winged pikmin to an object, the speed will only increase if the number of grounded carriers is less than the weight of the object. For instance, for a 10-weighted object, 10 reds + 9 winged is the same speed than 10 reds only. On the contrary, 9 reds + 9 winged is much faster than 10 reds; actually it is the same speed than 18 reds.
This run is incredible, well done. I'd love this category to be more popular and to see speedrunners compete in this beautiful category. It could be called "Intended all fruits" and there could be also a "Intended any%". I know it may not be well defined, but that could be included in the description.
Again, this run is impressive to see!
There actually is a cat for this called no dodge whistle/oob
The fact that collecting every single fruit in Ultra Spicy mode leaves you with half a bottle instead of a whole one frustrates me to no end
I honestly have no idea how it’s possible in ten days. I want to see how day 6 plays out where you have to build the pot and get all other fruits in GoH. Especially when you only have 60 Pikmin on the field at once
pikmin 3 speedrun: exists
Britanny: chukkles, I'm in danger
*chuckles*
That second garden of hope day is insane, I'm struggling to do it on normal but ultra spicy? Legendary.
I created a route for hard difficulty that I think should be easy to copy on normal difficulty. The only annoying part is the swarm of sheargrubs. If you encounter them, try to kill them as soon as possible, because they will mess up the pikmin counts and even cause them to drown.
Phhf it easy
The split up mechanic in 3 is so amazing. What a fantastic game
You have a weird definition of glitchless, but this is very impressive.
The fact that the pikmin 4 demo is as long as how fast you can beat pikmin 3 is frickin fantastic news on the games duration
It's safe to say that this guy is the king/queen of pikmin games, and you have my complete respect
King. I never watched a female play Pikmin games.
I mean, I'd consider a "glitch" doing something that isn't obviously meant to happen.
Clipping through walls, whistling right before a loading zone to teleport pikmin, forcing winged pikmin over walls, things like that.
Whistling through a loading zone isnt a glitch! Just bad game design
You: *gathers every fruit in the area in one day* Me: "I collected 3 fruits? must be a world record."
Galactic Date: 20XX
The words engraved into any pikmin 3 speed runners skull because you can’t skip them
I agree that "glitchless" doesn't really add any gameplay that is more interesting, but rather I think it adds more gameplay that is interesting, if that makes any sense. The arbitrary limits of what counts as a "glitch" however do make things less fun.
(Plus also, what with 10:15 and all... glitches aren't all that easy to avoid.)
Finally a glitchless run!
ah man, I'm still at the start of the vid, where the 4 red Pikmin are building the bridge.
.....But then Alph just keeps nudging them from behind like. "Walk faster. 😠"
This run is amazing!
Using this as an example for my own learning in speedrunning Pikmin owo
"Damn I missed a fruit gotta start over"
I love glitchless; it feels more natural than glitched runs
This has always been one of the most adorable and interesting games I’ve ever played. And it even has a happy day. The Little space people saved each one. And brought them together. Now they have a better chance of surviving.
本来は果実を十日でコンプするのも、無犠牲で全クリするのもムズいのにそれを二時間でやるとかすごすぎだろ
yay thanks for doing this I rlly wanted to see this
Hey Ice cube, I was wondering if there is a reason you don’t use the lock-on feature? Is it just personal taste or is there a specific reason?
Amazing video. You're an awesome Pikmin player. 😊
43:30 talk about a perfect time to pause
This was a really impressive run. Well done!
I though a glitchless 10 days was not possible!
This has to be hard as heck since you need to be a really good multitasker
I attempted a no death run- with no glitches- and all fruits I died more than 7 times on the first day trying to stop my pikmin from getting eaten, crushed, and etc
Do what you want ‘cause a pirate is free, but I’d love to see a commentated run
wow. i think on my original playthrough i didn't find all the optional power up orbs, that you found on this playthrough (the stuff like whistle upgrades)
Only have watched through day 2 so far, but I have a question. is there a reason you don't use the lock on feature? I'm not a speed runner, but it seems odd you wouldn't use it. You constantly miss throwing Pikmin directly onto certain spots, that would have been made easier with the lock-on feature. Like pellet poses, enemies. When you were getting the Lime behind the dirt wall by the Wollywogs on Day 2, you failed to throw the Rock pikmin onto the scale a couple times, when you would have been locked on to the spot if you used that feature, and wouldn't have had trouble with it. So I'm just curious as to why you don't seem to use the lock-on mechanic
I have a new idea for a pikmin 3 speedrun: (all fruits) and every enemy, button, etc. you can collect by this point
That already a thing
All achievements
The ending to Pikmin 3 has always made me smile
I really enjoyed watching this run
Personally I would consider plucking Pikmin quicker by cancel plucking a glitch but the video is entertaining nonetheless
A glitch is when a game mechanic does not work as intended, like walking in a curtain angle allows you to clip through some walls. No mechanic about pluck canceling is unintended, once a captain touches a pikmin the animation of a pikmin coming out of the ground starts playing and plucking can be canceled at any point.
@@edmundlewandowski4189 How do you know it's not unintended? If they meant for you to pluck that fast then why wouldn't they just make you pluck that fast without canceling? Seems like an oversight to me.
This is easily my favorite playthrough. :D
Is there a reason for not using lock on or gathering reports?
I could tell that although you didn’t have a mic, you were cussing out that one corpse.
You deliberately let the Sandbelching Meerslug eat some of your Pikmin, and you still lost none? There's no possible way that's not a glitch!
I think what happened is when the enemy dies or triggering certain things on certain enemy like the bulborb's eyes for example while the pikmin are about to be considered dead the pikmin pops out!
Thats because it got out of the ground when the pikmin were getting eaten, making them survive
いつ見てもすげぇわこれは
How about adding every piklopedia entry to this challenge
Wow! I know you're an experienced runner but that was so fast! Nice job!
I want to see a speedrun of all badges (story mode only)
but he would need to reset his game fully, as in remove all his data
@@loganmcglenen2227 Or start in a separate user.
@@Hawlo true true
This would be just perfect
It's something I will try to do once by the end of the year. Emphasis on *try* 🙂
Whats the purpose of the maneuver done here? 42:05
0:20 Tutorial
1:23 Day 1
5:55 Day 2
17:18 Day 3
Now do the same thing but collect all data files too!
Wait isnt early pickmin pluck also a glitch?
A glitch is when something works in an unintended way like walking into a wall and clipping through it, the developers intend for the wall to stop you. Nothing is unintended about pluck canceling, the option to stop plucking is always there at any point and the trigger for the animation of a pikmin coming out of the ground starts as normal. Although Nintendo never did advertise this. It’s similar to the Sandbelching slug strategy.
1:16:37 I refuse to believe that they just happened to sort themselves out like that naturally
what do you mean
its a feature of pikmin e deluxe 😂
at 14:23 you can tell the gyro starts freaking out in this segment
yea those platforms mess up the aiming
I am really confused as to why the onion only allows 60 pikmin out at a time
This is on the Ultra Spicy difficulty. 60 pikmin max, fruit gives much less juice, pikmin drown faster, etc...
Cool vid
43:32 Bulborb: *O H N O*
to be continued-
1:16:00: So Close for a death
godly dandori skills
14:31 oof
Neat idea. but you should stick to runs you like so you don't get burned out.
woah ggs
94:22 what happened with the map recenter? video edit?
Um be more spesif Whit the tome
@@stevenschuitemaker8438 1:34:22 it looks like Ice Cube edited in a new clip because the map suddenly teleports to a different area.
@@cangrejopendejo4909 huh... maybe the map just glitched out.. or the accidentally touched the screen so the map jumped a bit
Can you do a glitch tutorial on this game please.
u stream?
1:26:35 He gave us the thug shaker
Much appreciated
30:03 *mmm*
xD
nice
Bomb gone :(
I made day two in 3 try
Man, the sheer planning of this run, down to every small bit, such as when to get fruits, to get a convenient amount of pikmin in your party is just amazing. Hands to you man
