12 years ago when I came to HCMC to live, they were just breaking grounds and all I see were pillars in Thao Dien. Better 12 years later than never. This was what I was envisioning for VN back then and can reduce street traffic now by many folds but pollution as well. Great job VN!!
It’s awesome to hear how much you’ve seen the city grow! Looks like Vietnam is really making progress. Less traffic and cleaner air will definitely make a big difference.
12 year is not that bad, california say they finish a high speed rail by 2012 now they predict 2030 with only 1/7 of the original length and I dont think they even started so 2030 is just a dream. Construction always have delays.

As a Japanese, I just want to say: Yes it's true Japan helped out with the project but ultimately it's the hard work put in by Vietnamese officials, engineers, construction workers, etc. that made this possible. Congratulations to the people of HCMC and wishing you continued prosperity🙂
Thanks for making this and FINALLY, Saigon has a metro!! Congratulations Vietnam!! I have been coming to this country for 6 years now - it really needed that to help with congestion. Vietnam is on its way now!
Very nice. I was there in January 2024. It was supposed to open in the next three months. So it's late. Anyway there is an entrance to the station right outside Ben Thanh Market. I don't recall if it was the west side of the market but it's close to an exit/entrance from the market. Obviously they made it free for one month so people can ride it and get a feel for commuting. I'm sure they will accept credit cards to pay for the fare. Most likely the fare card would be electronic that can be scanned to gain entrance.
If you walk a bit further to the opera house station, the line will be none existence, I tried the metro at around 3PM because I knew that it will be a swam of people in the morning, got on at Thao Dien, then saw the smaller but still crowded line of people in Ben Thanh I decided to walk to the opera house station down the road to see and surprisingly there's no line so I just use it on my journey back to Thao Dien.

The metro is free of charge in the 1st month because the government would like to shape people’s habit of using the public transportation. So far people is used to using private means of transportation such as scooters, cars… So it will be difficult to change the habit.
Welcome to biggest metropolitan Ho Chi Minh city of Vietnam! (also called as Sài Gòn city, and Prey Nokor city in local Khmer). New metro train is significant big improve for the city!
It would be very nice if some day we all can connecting all corner from Saigon to DaNang to HaNoi to Vientiane to Phnom Penh and back to Saigon as the Vietnam extension to the west in 4 States: The United of Vietnam or UOV 1) Hanoi, State Capital of Vietnam Northeast 2) DaNang the Vietnam Capital 3) Saigon, State Capital of Vietnam Southeast 4) Phnom Penh, State Capital of Vietnam Southwest 5) Vientiane, State Capital of Vietnam Northwest

How fortunate to be there after 12 years of construction. What great timing. Thanks again for sharing.

Selamat atas pembukaan Saigon Metro. Sukses selalu. Salam hangat dari Indonesia

Ha ha, đội vốn cho nhiều.. Nhật Bản ị lên đầu người Việt Nam
Good video clip. How many cars connected? 5 or 8. Thanks
I think line 1 has 17 trains and each train has 3 cars if I am not mistaken.
@WandererBell thanks. Cheers from Canada
FYI, Ben Thanh prices are about 4x as much as other markets cause it's mainly for tourists. Locals shop other markets for cheap.
Good to know! I'll be sure to check out some of the other markets next time.
What will the prices be once they start charging ?
Thanks 👍
Nice i love vietnam

I think people are just curious for first couple days after thing back to normal
Using metro will be normal.
We will see how it goes.
" Very clean" you said? Look at the platform floors . . . they are all stained. 😂😂😂
あぁ、カタカナの表記が欲しい。
😂
Old tech leftover from China old train 😂😂😂😂.
The indiscriminate littering will make the train full of garbage in the coming months.
Người dân hiện nay có ý thức hơn nhiều, hãy chờ xem😅
