I haven't watched the video yet, but just the fact that you posted something about Effect Rack is crazy. I probably haven't used that plugin in over a year, but last night I started using it again! Synchronicity at its finest! Looking forward to checking the video out because I will for sure be using it a ton from now on.
I wanna say that I would love to be the Apprentice of guy like you! Just to seat on the left side and listen everything and try to memorise all this beautiful lessons like a sponge!!! But it seems it’s not my luck in this life. Thanks for sharing with us! Keep us up to date with new cool tricks! It’s welcome!!!!
Hasn't been updated since the days of the dinosaur and still holds up. Just did a little reverse chain, Echoboy 1/8th rhythm delay "reverse" decay > Phase Mistress > Panman on random timed to 1/8th note. Cut the dry track down to the effect track and moved it 1/8th note early.
On the last mix I posted I used one filter plugin into another filter plugin. Filterstep (which I've had for ages but never used) into he Tal Filter II and then into Soundtoys Little Plate (which is awesome btw) and although I don't really know exactly how to use them but by clicking around and using common sense I was able to get a cool moment in a spot where the drums were getting boring near the end of the track (shout out to Matt's video on looking for places to add one time effects). It gave a nice filter effect and added some stereo too which I wasn't expecting. Then by automating the send levels I added some other moments to the high hats earlier in the track and by sending at a low level on the tambourine made a nice texture in places on that too.
Nice - I love filters and tambourines! If you've ever heard the "sword clash" sound in 80s Animes, it's done by routing a tambourine into a ladder filter and then usually with a crusty delay afterwards. Bit of a tangent, but I think it's interesting.
Inspiring video, really great example of each plugin adding tangible qualities to the part… I’ll have to revisit STs, only got Microshift and was underwhelmed.
Microsoft is probably my least favorite of the SoundToys bundle. It's cool. It works. But there's better for what it does. Devil Loc, Decapitator, Echoboy, FILTERFREAK, Phase Mistress, Tremolator - all super cool.
Oh man! Love using Filter Freak for exactly what you mentioned on the 2 track. Just a cool swooshing transition or something of that nature. I also use Echo Boy as solely a vocal filter. Turn off the delay and use the knob on the far right to get those classic “radio” or “telephone” effect. And I also use Little AlterBoy to create vocal harmonies. Sometimes with the robotic voice engaged. Love SoundToys!
@@WeissAdvice the way I’ve used the “robot” mode is creating a very high vocal harmony with Melodyne first the pan using the robot to almost give it a vocoder sound. This was very recently and off the cuff. But I also noticed it does some weird stuff when also linked. It kinda cycled through a bunch of pitches.
just great! lol...I love the technical tcha tcha swoosh terminology, and I love the Sound Toys plugs as well...I don't have the effects rack, just the lite versions, but they are literally on most of my projects. I've been using them in the more cliche' standard kinds of ways (little altarboy for pitching vox octave up and down and Deviloc for drum bus crush) but this gives me some real inspiration to lean into new delay territory and freshen things up a bit 🙂 thanks for the fun and practical posts!
@@WeissAdvice yes, absolutely! that's why I subscribe. I like how your brain works (hmmm...maybe that's how Brainworx ....hey look! a squirrel!) anyway... you always seem to post stuff that's not only outside the box of what everyone else is doing, which seems to inspire me each time to try new things on my own...but it's all tempered with the song intention in perfect focus and not just willy nilly knob twiddling just "because".
Man, I love Soundtoys, been using it for 2-3 yrs! But whats funny to me is, that I have only used the standalone plugins as they are, never really the effect rack and mixed various all at once. Guess I have to check that rack out! 😀 Nice1
@@WeissAdvice Yes. Probably always thought that mixing more than one would be overloading and very heavy with the effects, but maybe one has to make more subtle adjustments to the dry/wet ratio. Will try
Soundtoys should follow Waves lead and program Radiator with the 'noise' in the clean (off) position. It gets SLAPPED to 'clean' way more than it is left on. LOL
Not entirely. There's a global mix blend and feedback control. Otherwise it's just space saver because it all opens on one insert. So it's more of a time saver because you can automate a bunch of effects at once, etc etc.
your videos are great. thank you for all the valuable information!
Thanks Davi!

You sensed my video was coming!
Can I add plug ins from Brainworx and Lindell into this virtual mixer or Soundtoys plug ins only?
Soundtoys only
my favorite feature: FEEDBACK !!!! YEAH BABY
especially when you push it too far
I think that's the beauty of sound toys effects rack. Its basically like creative chaos.
Chaos in some semblance of order.
Thank you so much sir 🥰 i'm watching your videos last 2 days , just loved all those videos 🙏 Thank you again .
Thanks for tuning in Gourab!
I love this plugin! Thanks for your show of creativity in using it; very inspiring.
Thanks Michael!

@@WeissAdvice How do I connect?
I watched Alex tumay pretty much mix a entire song with just sound toys bundle... I ain't gonna lie I was really impressed.. another great video
Alex is a beast. Hopefully I'll have him on the channel soon enough.
@@WeissAdvice that would be super dope if I ever get a placement .. I'd request either you or him I'd recommend as my mixer
Super dope tutorial! Soundtoys for life!!! \m/

I don't think I've ever found use for that "Robot" setting on Alterboy. I'm probably missing out.

Can u do a video on Primal Tap!?Great video!!
that filter trick is really cool. I'm gonna try and do a version using reaper's envelope follower to automate an EQ :D
Brace yourself for some really cool sounds!

Right on! Even the basic versions are pretty useful. But I do think there's some merit to doing basic effects in non-basic ways.

Effect Rack is just super convenient for putting together complex effect chains without maxing out inserts.

True. Default should definitely be "off"
First Comment! Love your videos Matt!
Thanks Hermian!
I know U see me 😏
Btw try echoboy junior in combination with little bit of microshift on vocals, It gives very interesting results.
the vocal widener special

I mean cant i just all that on a track?
