For the ones that want the online private server... You need a huge amount of ram to run the xampp. If you still belive you can manage to get close to 128Gb of ram (should be possible with less but if you actually want to play with more players then 5 you might need since you will have to keep updated different parts of the map) There are some sources arround the dark sides if you wanna risk... or ask some private servers that are small if they willing to share the base version (not the one modified by them) of the source. Or just join Menma, Valkiry or idk, there should be too many already. I heard there is an old style server too, not sure if its true. But yeah, fun experience to have your own server but not worth for an mmorpg unless you want to enjoy the story that you skiped because you had to reach endgame faster :)
i made myself a GM by changing the access level to100 in characters tab instead of account tab. As for the commands it starts with example --create_item (ID) or like --set_level 60

For those who are also needing help with it, there's a _commands.txt file in the Private Server directory. Once you become a GM, type --(command) to actuate the command. If you need to know an item ID, you can find them in Private Server > gameserver>data>items. Make sure your inventory is open, and if you wanted to give yourself 10 silver, the command would be "--create_item 20000000 1000" without quotes.
Where do you enter the console commands? I tried entering them in the chat screen, but it would just have my character say the script instead of it registering in the game.

I explained to Johan Last in the comments above how to use GM commands. If your interested and have time you can check that out and make a video on it once you figure it out.
Tera CZ is old school with more English speakers all the time on this Spanish Server, and Tera Starscape is a current Server upto date with Tera at Shutdown mode, it too is English. They both have alot of players online.

I had a Tl.exe failed 0 error while trying to start the game the second time. It got solved by copying the tl.exe from the private server > launcher folder to Tera Private Client > Client folder. Just putting this out here if anyone else has the same problem.
Thanks for this dude, this is amazing. I've been dying to play classic Tera, even on a private server with all my friends. This is the next best thing and even though it's solo, it's better than nothing. Is there a way to adjust drop rates and things? Monsters are more of a loot piñata than I remember.
hello first i want to say thank you for this i love the old island of dawn i wish they kept it but i am having a little trouble with the tl.exe file it keeps failing and not sure why i even did what rinishan said in the comments it did not work at all not sure what to do now Update: i got it working it was simple after you started server and it is up and ready use the NeoLauncher.exe from the Tera Private Client folder instead of the Play game button that is in in the Tera Private Server folder the play game button will fail the Tl.exe every time i hope this help
Great video. How do you use gm command for this game ? I did set access to 100 and isGm to 1 but could not get any of the 100 access gm commands to work. Do you just type in the command in general chat ? Is there a special character to use before commands ? ... please give an example of what/where/how to type a GM command. Thanks!

My other comment was removed because it had the url that is shown in the spash... but the game client in the gdrive zipfile (the one with the corrupted file) has a different splash startup image than the one shown in the video, so maybe it is incompatible; I couldn't get to the "Rcvd Message: gameEvent(1004)" and there's no auth message in the server. I think the client is not compatible.

Have issue with mouse moving to bottom left corner of the screen, and I can't control the mouse, it just keeps quickly moving back to the corner. I don't have any controller plugged up. Anyone know how to fix this, or is there a way to force keyboard and mouse control.
Fix the problem, turns out I forgot I had my steering wheel connected to the pc, and that was causing the mouse issue. Strangest thing. Anyway, I'm playing the game now, and it's just like the old days again. :)
From what I can see, the Google Drive files have been corrupted. And, OneDrive expired as of today. My download died halfway through and now the link states that the files are no longer available. Is there anything that you can do? MEGA would also be a solid option.
Is there a way to make a server multiplayer online through the internet? My friend overseas and I would wanna play together privately, and all other tutorials I've found are horribly outdated and none of the links work anymore.
You'd need to set up port forward in your home router and zip the tera client with changed `Tera Private Client eolauncher eo_app_conf.json` to `WebServerUrl` changed to your public IP/port to access the local running server. And then you'd also need to change `Tera Private Server\web\htdocs\server\serverlist.en` (or the one corresponding to the language the person chose in their launcher, if in doubt, change all files). Then change the `` to the public IP and port forwarded from your router.... You need to know how to forward ports, and forward 80, 11101 from the router to your computer.
why still dont exist a private server with this patch?..there is only menma stupid fast korean style gameplay and the other one....i hope to find early that version on a private server..Tera vm1 is Tera...after all patch are like a mods

I got it after a couple of hours possibly many people at the same time were downloading it, also the link is actually saved in the "shared" of the "Outlook" accounts so maybe it is not a direct link to the download, I at least had to log in to my microsoft onedrive account to get it.

As far as I know, you can make and delete characters same way as before on official servers. I hadn't figured out how to make this server online yet and this is the alpha copy of the game so I think the quest ends at around level 41? It's not the full game but it's close enough. I don't know how to use the admin stuff or GM commands yet. But I think someone might have figured it out on the comments section?

Which game studio staff had to be extorted to get this copy? is it really a big deal from the start to have a copy of these files like this suddenly, and how were characters added and removed in the original game? That is the same error message I got when I teleported my character to Kaiator which I'm guessing is because work on the game wasn't finished in those areas. If you are getting that error message when you spawn into the game it is probably because game files you downloaded were corrupted.
@@abroseadvisor563 I honestly dunno. All the crashes were on Isle of Dawn. The first one was when I triggered that cutscene of the first "tree" boss, then I couldn't load that character anymore. I've created other chars, played a few mins, and then it crashed on the same spot, the cutscene, and aftewards couldn't load. I"m suspecting maybe's memory ram, mine's 8gb only. But who knows...
@@igorpinheiro6818 My laptop's task manager shows the game using 2.4GB of ram but I was pushing 8GB of ram usage in total while I played. I would recommend re-downloading the game since other people seem to be having problems with downloading the files. The google drive download link reportedly is giving corrupted files so you could try the OneDrive link.
Just want tut playable time frame around 2018 time-frame allowing all in game items buyable with ingame currency. And being able to select updates for the game with out over bloating with unneeded updates. So I can run run Private server of Tera for my friends and later for everyone...
Does this have the original character creation with all the sliders still in? The original one i remember you could adjust height arm and lrg length torso height and size etc.

There is a text file in the Tera Private Server called _commands that explains how to set up and use GM commands. You will need to access the admin webpage for the game and change your character's access level to 100 in order to use GM commands. To use a GM command you first hit enter then type something like --create_item 20000000 999999999 then hit enter. That command will give you around 100,000 gold. You can create any item that appears in the game server files where you can find the id number you need to create that item.
@@abroseadvisor563 Thank you. I am downloading again. For some reason I downloaded the original Tera Shock and not the Tera Shock New. The original I have has no command file and is also 19GB in size. It does play except that the only GM commands that I found that works was --kill_me/--time and a few others. But nothing to create or give stuff that works. I hope this one will do. I could also change character level in the database but we all know it costs coin to buy stuff....lol
@@JohanlastZa Your welcome. I have the Tera New Shock version which is 20.3GB in size so hopefully it works for you once you get it downloaded. I wasn't able create costumes or flying mounts since this version of the game doesn't have any but I could create variety of amours and ground mounts. I've looked for a newer version of the game that would include that but the only version I found was the v92.03 version based on the game right before game went 64bit which requires at least 32GB of ram to run. @@sailent I'll give you an example. The id number for a campfire is 98 so you would hit enter then type --create_item 98 then hit enter and the item will appear in your inventory.
Did exactly everything has described, but at step 5(Register an account) I got an error : "Fatal error: Uncaught PDOException: could not find driver" and it won't load the page....
hey im clueless about server stuffs so i wanna ask: what is the difference between a server emulator and server files ? I saw someone shared tera server files on internet but not a server emulator. Can you still play terra offline with just server file ?

you dont have to be able to walk to get to baldera, you just have to jump in the right spots and keep pushing up. the walk feature made it a ton easier

However, unlike your video where you are taken directly to the character selection screen, I'm stuck at the server selection screen where I get the message "Can't connect to server" whenever I try to enter a server. Hitting the Refresh button does nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ^^
However, I seem to have run into another issue. After playing on a class for a while I wanted to see try another, but after logging out from my first character I seem to be stuck on it in the character selection screen and I can't zoom out from it to choose another character. I even went through character creation but after clicking the finish button I return to my first character's "spot" in the selection screen and can't find the new character I made. I really don't wanna delete my first character (I spent like 5 hours on Island of Dawn) so help is definitely needed!
@@LovuxTheGreat try exiting the game entirely and launching it again. I remember when I tried deleting my character Cake, he was still showing up on the character selection menu. Only when I exit game and relaunched it did he disappear. So it could be the same thing here. The game has bugs. I didn't make this private server either. I just made this tutorial from what I was able to learn because I suck at following directions and I needed something like this if I need to relearn how to reinstall it myself. 😅

Good question. I'm not sure. I assume you can. To be honest, when I learned how to do this, it took me a long time and I did it because I wanted to experience the Island of Dawn starter zone again. I read that the quests go up to lvl40 and stop there. I haven't actually tested it myself. This is Client Version 1732 By: P5yl0. The original TeraShock tutorial for this client was hard for me to follow personally so I had to make my own tutorial in case I forget how to do this again and to help the rest of you guys out. You can completely skip the Java install step if you simply place a java installation within private server/gameserver/jre, and in `startGameServer.bat` change `java - server ...` to `jre\bin\java -server`.

Can I get some help here? It says one file in the archive is corrupt: ! E:\Download\TERA New Shock.zip: Checksum error in F:\WINRAR TEMP\Rar$DRa12584.27483\TERA New Shock\Tera Private Client\Client\S1Game\CookedPC\Art_Data\Packages\CH\PC\Human_M_Head.gpk. The file is corrupt Can you reupload this Human_M_Head.gpk file please? It says it is corrupt and the only issue I have with the archive extracting.

When i went to Xampp and tried to open it says : Windows cannot find E:/Game Library/TERA Online/Tera New Shock/Tera Private Server\...bat'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again * whats that x.x?
this happens if you try to run the xampp install step before unzipping is complete (or you cancelled it, full disk space, etc). Although the shortcut reads a strange path, it would work even if you extracted in c:\games\tera or something like it. As long as you unzip and don't move stuff around, that is.
A bit late but you need to open the xampp instalation file's properties and change the path to the one you have on your computer. For example, for me it was "E:\TERA PS\TERA New Shock\Tera Private Server\..bat" for installation and E:\TERA PS\TERA New Shock\Tera Private Server\1. Start Xampp control.bat for control.
Awsome vid however i have srs issues with extracting the files, The Google drive link has corrupt file Human_M_Head.gpk with files that dont load ingame for example the human models head lol and the Onedrive link cant even be extracted because the whole archive is corrupt any ides?

Same issue, something with the way the zip file downloaded or when it was uploaded a file may have been corrupted. I have the same issue and couldn't repair the file.

There is actually a trick to download it again on Google drive when this happens. Try googling that message and see if you can find the solution. Let me know once you found it.
Hello. I tried to download the google drive version multiple times but my internet is so bad that it stopped every time . So can you make a torrent version or something , because I need to restart the download every time from the beginning . I don't have that much time to waste so pls upload another version . I miss TERA and I want my own server . And if someone knows of any other private TERA files pls write down the source .
You could have used a downloader like JDownloader - it allows you to pause a download and re-start it even days later, you don't have to download something all in one sitting
@@jpPID I used a teleport scroll to get to Kaiator from the island of Dawn with a character at level 60 but I fixed the problem. I accessed the admin webpage and edited the continent id and zone id of my character to move it to the island of Dawn and I was able to login with my character.

Sadly no idea how to get the newer client yet. But you can check out Menma's Tera which is a Online Private server with plenty of people to play with. Give that one a go. It should have the latest stuff. This video shows you how to get the old original version of the game back and it's only playable offline from what I know.

I explained to Johan Last in the comments above how to use GM commands. If your interested and have time you can check that out and make a video on it once you figure it out.
Tera CZ is old school with more English speakers all the time on this Spanish Server, and Tera Starscape is a current Server upto date with Tera at Shutdown mode, it too is English. They both have alot of players online.

I had a Tl.exe failed 0 error while trying to start the game the second time. It got solved by copying the tl.exe from the private server > launcher folder to Tera Private Client > Client folder. Just putting this out here if anyone else has the same problem.

Update: i got it working it was simple after you started server and it is up and ready use the NeoLauncher.exe from the Tera Private Client folder instead of the Play game button that is in

Great video. How do you use gm command for this game ? I did set access to 100 and isGm to 1 but could not get any of the 100 access gm commands to work. Do you just type in the command in general chat ? Is there a special character to use before commands ? ... please give an example of what/where/how to type a GM command. Thanks!

Thanks! 1 issue I encounter was that all custom shortcuts in the folder 'Initial Setup' and the Play Game/Neolauncher into 'Tera Private Server' wasn't working
My other comment was removed because it had the url that is shown in the spash... but the game client in the gdrive zipfile (the one with the corrupted file) has a different splash startup image than the one shown in the video, so maybe it is incompatible; I couldn't get to the "Rcvd Message: gameEvent(1004)" and there's no auth message in the server. I think the client is not compatible.

Have issue with mouse moving to bottom left corner of the screen, and I can't control the mouse, it just keeps quickly moving back to the corner. I don't have any controller plugged up.

Fix the problem, turns out I forgot I had my steering wheel connected to the pc, and that was causing the mouse issue. Strangest thing. Anyway, I'm playing the game now, and it's just like the old days again. :)
From what I can see, the Google Drive files have been corrupted. And, OneDrive expired as of today. My download died halfway through and now the link states that the files are no longer available. Is there anything that you can do? MEGA would also be a solid option.
the google drive file broken is just a 36MB one (Human_M_Head.gpk), if somebody could upload it somewhere, would be enough to get it running, I guess.
Is there a way to make a server multiplayer online through the internet? My friend overseas and I would wanna play together privately, and all other tutorials I've found are horribly outdated and none of the links work anymore.

You'd need to set up port forward in your home router and zip the tera client with changed `Tera Private Client

eo_app_conf.json` to `WebServerUrl` changed to your public IP/port to access the local running server. And then you'd also need to change `Tera Private Server\web\htdocs\server\serverlist.en` (or the one corresponding to the language the person chose in their launcher, if in doubt, change all files). Then change the `` to the public IP and port forwarded from your router.... You need to know how to forward ports, and forward 80, 11101 from the router to your computer.

As far as I know, you can make and delete characters same way as before on official servers. I hadn't figured out how to make this server online yet and this is the alpha copy of the game so I think the quest ends at around level 41? It's not the full game but it's close enough. I don't know how to use the admin stuff or GM commands yet. But I think someone might have figured it out on the comments section?

Which game studio staff had to be extorted to get this copy? is it really a big deal from the start to have a copy of these files like this suddenly, and how were characters added and removed in the original game? That is the same error message I got when I teleported my character to Kaiator which I'm guessing is because work on the game wasn't finished in those areas. If you are getting that error message when you spawn into the game it is probably because game files you downloaded were corrupted.
@@abroseadvisor563 I honestly dunno. All the crashes were on Isle of Dawn. The first one was when I triggered that cutscene of the first "tree" boss, then I couldn't load that character anymore. I've created other chars, played a few mins, and then it crashed on the same spot, the cutscene, and aftewards couldn't load. I"m suspecting maybe's memory ram, mine's 8gb only. But who knows...
@@igorpinheiro6818 My laptop's task manager shows the game using 2.4GB of ram but I was pushing 8GB of ram usage in total while I played. I would recommend re-downloading the game since other people seem to be having problems with downloading the files. The google drive download link reportedly is giving corrupted files so you could try the OneDrive link.
Just want tut playable time frame around 2018 time-frame allowing all in game items buyable with ingame currency. And being able to select updates for the game with out over bloating with unneeded updates. So I can run run Private server of Tera for my friends and later for everyone...

Anyone know HOW to use the GM stuff. I have a lot of goodies but I have no idea how to use it. Where do I type it in? Do I have to first press a key for a text box to appear to enter GM stuff?
There is a text file in the Tera Private Server called _commands that explains how to set up and use GM commands. You will need to access the admin webpage for the game and change your character's access level to 100 in order to use GM commands. To use a GM command you first hit enter then type something like --create_item 20000000 999999999 then hit enter. That command will give you around 100,000 gold. You can create any item that appears in the game server files where you can find the id number you need to create that item.

The original I have has no command file and is also 19GB in size. It does play except that the only GM commands that I found that works was --kill_me/--time and a few others. But nothing to create or give stuff that works. I hope this one will do. I could also change character level in the database but we all know it costs coin to buy stuff....lol
@@JohanlastZa Your welcome. I have the Tera New Shock version which is 20.3GB in size so hopefully it works for you once you get it downloaded. I wasn't able create costumes or flying mounts since this version of the game doesn't have any but I could create variety of amours and ground mounts. I've looked for a newer version of the game that would include that but the only version I found was the v92.03 version based on the game right before game went 64bit which requires at least 32GB of ram to run. If your interested Loulx Game has a UA-cam video on it.

@@sailent I'll give you an example. The id number for a campfire is 98 so you would hit enter then type --create_item 98 then hit enter and the item will appear in your inventory.
Did exactly everything has described, but at step 5(Register an account) I got an error : "Fatal error: Uncaught PDOException: could not find driver" and it won't load the page....

you dont have to be able to walk to get to baldera, you just have to jump in the right spots and keep pushing up. the walk feature made it a ton easier

If the shortcut doesn't work then you need to go directly to the original files. Go to the Tera Private Server folder.

Great guide, very easy to follow instructions. However, unlike your video where you are taken directly to the character selection screen, I'm stuck at the server selection screen where I get the message "Can't connect to server" whenever I try to enter a server. Hitting the Refresh button does nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ^^
However, I seem to have run into another issue. After playing on a class for a while I wanted to see try another, but after logging out from my first character I seem to be stuck on it in the character selection screen and I can't zoom out from it to choose another character. I even went through character creation but after clicking the finish button I return to my first character's "spot" in the selection screen and can't find the new character I made. I really don't wanna delete my first character (I spent like 5 hours on Island of Dawn) so help is definitely needed!

I remember when I tried deleting my character Cake, he was still showing up on the character selection menu. Only when I exit game and relaunched it did he disappear.
So it could be the same thing here. The game has bugs. I didn't make this private server either. I just made this tutorial from what I was able to learn because I suck at following directions and I needed something like this if I need to relearn how to reinstall it myself. 😅

Good question. I'm not sure. I assume you can. To be honest, when I learned how to do this, it took me a long time and I did it because I wanted to experience the Island of Dawn starter zone again. I read that the quests go up to lvl40 and stop there. I haven't actually tested it myself. This is Client Version 1732

You can completely skip the Java install step if you simply place a java installation within private server/gameserver/jre, and in `startGameServer.bat` change `java - server ...` to `jre\bin\java -server`.

When i went to Xampp and tried to open it says : Windows cannot find E:/Game Library/TERA Online/Tera New Shock/Tera Private Server\...bat'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again * whats that x.x?
this happens if you try to run the xampp install step before unzipping is complete (or you cancelled it, full disk space, etc). Although the shortcut reads a strange path, it would work even if you extracted in c:\games\tera or something like it. As long as you unzip and don't move stuff around, that is.
A bit late but you need to open the xampp instalation file's properties and change the path to the one you have on your computer. For example, for me it was "E:\TERA PS\TERA New Shock\Tera Private Server\..bat" for installation and E:\TERA PS\TERA New Shock\Tera Private Server\1. Start Xampp control.bat for control.

Hello. I tried to download the google drive version multiple times but my internet is so bad that it stopped every time . So can you make a torrent version or something , because I need to restart the download every time from the beginning . I don't have that much time to waste so pls upload another version . I miss TERA and I want my own server . And if someone knows of any other private TERA files pls write down the source .
Finally I was able to download it from One Drive. But it will be good if a torrent exists .
You could have used a downloader like JDownloader - it allows you to pause a download and re-start it even days later, you don't have to download something all in one sitting
My game crashed when I teleported to Kaiator and continues to do so when I login with that character.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
How did you teleport to kaiator, what level were you, teleported from where, give us more info please
@@jpPID I used a teleport scroll to get to Kaiator from the island of Dawn with a character at level 60 but I fixed the problem. I accessed the admin webpage and edited the continent id and zone id of my character to move it to the island of Dawn and I was able to login with my character.

@@jpPID Yes, I used the GM command --set_level 60 when I was still questing on the island of Dawn.
which kind of themes are you using with your windows?
I haven't given the theme a name yet. Also, I'm not using that theme anymore. I made another one. 😅

Thank you for the game and advice. I used to play this game 8 years ago. It's still a good memory and enjoy it. Unfortunately, this version doesn't have ninja class. I really want to play this class. Bringing the new version down again will be enough to do it or not. > < "
Sadly no idea how to get the newer client yet. But you can check out Menma's Tera which is a Online Private server with plenty of people to play with. Give that one a go. It should have the latest stuff. This video shows you how to get the old original version of the game back and it's only playable offline from what I know.

@@DreamyAbaddon I honestly don't know. It wasn't working at all and suddenly it worked. I have no idea why but I did get it running and it works fine.
