American Heritage Performance built my Z06 to 1100rwhp and did a stage 5 on the entire drivetrain and I love it. I highly recommend them. The owner Khole really knows his stuff. Good luck 👍👍
That’s awesome to hear especially since I only need mine to put out sub 600hp I know I can trust it to be reliable!
😅😊😊😊@@SloJoeRacing
damn bro mines at ahp rn im only getting mine to 500 whp lol
@@exoticolors9953mine is also there right now lol. Cant wait to get it back. Ported stage 4 fixed heads and the rest stock.
I went through the motor swap process after blowing mine up and went through the same things that Josh Van Veld did, except mine took longer. It took me two years to plan, order and build everything. I ended up originally ordering a new 427 short block from texas speed but i eventually cancelled the order after I found a good deal on a used short block off of ebay.
It’s hard yes, but it’s not complex if that makes sense. For me it was lots of weeks/months of not doing anything because you lose motivation, or it’s winter time, or waiting for parts to come in, or not anticipating you would need to order x,y, or z because you thought your old one was good but somehow it broke when removing it or upon further inspection you notice an issue. Getting distracted with side projects on the car like the “while you’re in there” bug… waiting for the machine shop…
I mean I think it’s the right avenue personally especially if you can sell the old one before the new one blows up, that’s a huge money swing. My advice is to have a solid, thought out plan and go for it.
Yeah, Ive spoken to Katech and I’ve done some light shopping. My goal is to a put a thorough plan together with some individuals that know what’s best for these LS7’s and set up a good reliable build. This car has fought me quite a bit but I’m optimistic that after this journey this car will be locked in!
i spent $8k to get mine done at ahp. 500whp and it addresses all the factory/reliability issues so to me thats not a bad deal. stage 4 heads package is what i did. ill be going back for headers and cams in a couple months as well. i also have polestar 2 just in case my z has to sit which is honestly a lifesaver
That’s awesome! You ordered their crate or your took it to them to do the work?
@@SloJoeRacing took it to them. its actually there right now lol
Love the content brother keep it up !
Thanks!!! Will do!
I wrench my own stuff but I would be lying if I didn't say just pack it up and send it to RPM wouldn't be the easiest thing to do. Unless you are in the mood to do wrenching for a bit...send it. Until then just enjoy it on the street. Outside of that...wrench it during the winter and take your time as you feel like it.
yeah ive been in convo with shops, techs and others and putting together a plan thats best for me and the car. Likely option is going to be to remove the motor. Have a machine shop go through it and then I can reinstall it in the garage, but sending it someone to do all the work is still on the table.
@@SloJoeRacing amen to that
Do you have contact info for RPM and where they are located? I have a 2013 Z06 with ~ 5400 miles and contemplating a valve job or mod.

@@SloJoeRacing Awesome. Thank you Sir, and good luck with your Z!
Hi it’s me, the “couple buddies” who’s gonna help rebuild this sumbichh
Harbor Freight goign to sponsor us when were done with this unit!
I commented on an older video .. 5w30 !!! what wrong with you brah ! ? all have to do is run high quality 5w30 ! IE redline or royal purple hps or xpr series ( non api) with higher zddp levels ... regular off the shelf oil of any spec is API oil with low low levels of the good stuff .. My 2010 is cammed with full system running 650 wheel Hp and my oil pressure at idle is 60 psi and at high rpm about 80 psi + with oil temps about 200 f max and coolant temps max 190 s - 200 running 70/30 mix which i also recommend !
Before I switched to the 50w I was running Motul 300v 10w40 but my oil pressures were already a concern. Changing to another brand unfortunately isn’t going to change te outcome that the motor has to come and get refreshed. I definitely will look into the brands you recommended once the motor is refreshed.
@@SloJoeRacing the car is speced for 5w30 the and the ls7 has tight tolerances you need to stick with 5w30 and a good quality brand as mentioned earlier , this is reason for copper , the bearings are starved of oil .. BTW look up Race proven motorsports in DE they are best for vettes .
6 min in tosses paper😂
😂😂
Rebuild it yourself. You pull engine, you sent it off, get back and install it.
Yeah, That seems to be the approach im going to take. Ive been sourcing parts and just going to drop it at a machine shop to have them put the short block back together and reassemble the rest myself.
Love the ZO6 and your car if it didn’t have all it’s problems.. It’s one of the best overall track cars for the money. Sell the problem. Buy something that you feel comfortable, pushing the limits and developing your skills as a driver. Something with warranties are even better. I’ve had plenty of fast cars and they all came with one thing… Headaches!! I only look for more power when I can’t drive any faster. Sucks to see the car down like this but if you build it to go faster you’ll just prolong you getting comfortable pushing the car and being a better driver.. unless you like having the fastest car on track losing to the some of slowest 😉 best of luck!! FYI my car is gonna be boosted soon 😎 so maybe keep the Z06 😂
lol I’m going to need more than my Z06 to keep up when you’re boosted. Getting a more reliable car is definitely being considered, but I just love this car so much. I have a few months to make my decision. Hopefully it will be the right one!
@@SloJoeRacing it was hard when I sold my Mustang with a bunch of suspension parts and I took the L on it.. It was so humbling going from a fast car to this 224 hp car I now have but it taught me everything I know over last few years. That new type R 🚀 😎
I agree with Phelps. You don't need new to get warranty. You can get CPO. That's why I did with the Pcar.
However, the C6Z is a legend. Your motor issue isn't a big deal tbh. Just money. I'm doing a LS7 build right now myself
@@David-kl5ln yeah, their is a 99.99% this LS7 is getting rebuilt. I just love the experience every time I’m in that car and I think changing to anything else will not match what I feel with this car!
Cars & Coffee 😮
BTW .. what are your Ti levels in the report ?
2 on both analysis that I have done. No increase in titanium levels.
@@SloJoeRacing that's good , that's very important as the rods are coated and high Ti is big concern..what about iron levels ?
@@jayd1008 iron is at 28
@@SloJoeRacing mine the same...your sample seems ok except for the copper ...stop using low grade api oil with bare minimum zddp levels and more imp use the correct wieght oil ! ...and see how she runs then and report back!
