    I wrench my own stuff but I would be lying if I didn't say just pack it up and send it to RPM wouldn't be the easiest thing to do. Unless you are in the mood to do wrenching for a bit...send it. Love the ZO6 and your car if it didn’t have all it’s problems.. It’s one of the best overall track cars for the money. Sell the problem. Buy something that you feel comfortable, pushing the limits and developing your skills as a driver. Something with warranties are even better. I’ve had plenty of fast cars and they all came with one thing… Headaches!! I only look for more power when I can’t drive any faster. Sucks to see the car down like this but if you build it to go faster you’ll just prolong you getting comfortable pushing the car and being a better driver.. unless you like having the fastest car on track losing to the some of slowest 😉 best of luck!! FYI my car is gonna be boosted soon 😎 so maybe keep the Z06 😂

    I went through the motor swap process after blowing mine up and went through the same things that Josh Van Veld did, except mine took longer. It took me two years to plan, order and build everything. I ended up originally ordering a new 427 short block from texas speed but i eventually cancelled the order after I found a good deal on a used short block off of ebay. It’s hard yes, but it’s not complex if that makes sense. For me it was lots of weeks/months of not doing anything because you lose motivation, or it’s winter time, or waiting for parts to come in, or not anticipating you would need to order x,y, or z because you thought your old one was good but somehow it broke when removing it or upon further inspection you notice an issue. Getting distracted with side projects on the car like the “while you’re in there” bug… waiting for the machine shop… I mean I think it’s the right avenue personally especially if you can sell the old one before the new one blows up, that’s a huge money swing. My advice is to have a solid, thought out plan and go for it.

    • @SloJoeRacing
      @SloJoeRacing Місяць тому

      Yeah, Ive spoken to Katech and I’ve done some light shopping. Love the vid Joe! I'm gonna suggest a bigger invesment in brakes, the C6Z brake calipers suck. You need an AP or Stoptech BBK. I have the AP units and braking no longer feels like I'm squishing a pancake together. This give you more confidence to attack corners. You also need a race bucket and 5 point harness with a harness bar. This will keep you from sliding everywhere in the car and give you more confidence also. You can't get much out of the car if you are constantly bracing yourself to stay in the seat. After that, swaybars and shocks, I went with the Doug Rippie Bilsteins and so far its good enough for me and still keeps the car streetable. Just my 2 cents, I love your content, I really appreciate you pumping it out.

      Always appreciate the feedback! I 1000% need a seat. Looking into upgrading brakes as well. Im currently on the LG GT2 Coilover set and swaybars any thoughts on those?

      @@SloJoeRacing if you’ve got that, then you’re good to go. Then really you just need a seat/harness and a BBK, and you’re good to go

      @@SloJoeRacingAnother thought, what are your swaybar settings and coilover settings? If they are too stiff, you might be breaking loose way before you should be due to power, you'll be bouncing around and constantly fighting traction. I run my swaybars on the middle hole and so far so good, but I don't have coil overs either. I really think brakes and seat/harness are gonna give you a massive boost in confidence though. Tip on the harness, make sure the shoulder straps transition from 2in wide to 3in wide to fit in the channels your HANS. (NEVER RUN A HARNESS WITHOUT A HANS!! A head on collision will break your neck and likely kill you.) Also make sure your harness lap straps tighten by pull UP not down. Pulling up to tighten is much easier when you're crammed into a bucket seat, there isn't any room to pull down due to side bolsters of your race seat and the center tunnel in our cars. Just some more thoughts I had as I was taking a piss at 2am this morning. lol

      @@jwb4bb Yeah my sway bar settings are at the middle level as well, but ive never looked at what my coilover settings are. I'll be visiting Sebring raceway in June so I plan to review all my car settings before going out. Also getting a track alignment to help with turn in. Definitely wont run harness without a Hans.
