I would add that having shadow refuge is great idea, because you can save downed ally and even give them regen, or use that skill to quickly get through area full of mobs what is that combat mod you use?
Started thief with ranger :D . . . any addional tip for this duo-play? . . . other than we are going to murder everyone as we only started leveling :3 the other is literal noob started gw2 first time
Work on your video tags dude. You have very well informative videos about every class, but before I find your guide, I was presented with 10 useless, not talking on point, not prepared guides before yours. Great guide!
Hello there :) I am looking to get into Guild Wars 2. And I feel interested in trying out the Necromancer, Mesmer or Thief. I messed around with Mesmer back in the day but felt the damage was lackluster compared to other classes for the effort I put in. Which one would you suggest? For a player looking to get into like pvp, pve. I dont want a super hard class, but something in which I should be rewarded for getting good at it without it being mind numbingly hard. Thanks for you time :)
Mesmer is pretty difficult. Necro is pretty underwhelming and will probably get nerfed even harder soon and thief is easy to play, good in PvP and average in PvE. There's your clear winner if it's only between those three!
I appreciate you taking time to answer my questions :) if its purely a number thing, I guess I'll roll Necro. I love the aesthetic and numbers can always be buffed. If anything, it'll drive me to do much better with the kit I have. Thanks man :)
Really well made guide but... ...I cant use staffs as a thief until lvl 80... What do you mean good build for starting out? Who starts out with a staff, not to mention the daredevil class? pvp? can you do that in pvp? idk... Not to mention the fact that you need the expansion for it, you also need to be max level. Why was this not the first thing mentioned? You made me want to play thief but I ain't got anything that u have here so the playstyle is competently different. Lastly This should be a ADVANCED PvE Guide, not Basic PvE Guide. After all Isn't a Basic guide something new players want to see? ppl like me... Other then this it's a really good guide for a staff build. Please keep this in mind in the future.
In my mind there was always a difference between "basic" and "beginner". You're right of course, new players shouldn't be viewing this right away. This is something I mentioned when I started this playlist but I didn't want to repeat myself at the beginning of every video. Essentially these guides are for players who have been messing about in the open world a bit, got to 80, got some gold stashed and are ready to get serious about the game. The information, and how I convey it, is actually extremely "basic" and would be patronising to anyone whose been playing for a long time. I don't want to piss people off who might be looking for serious raid guides or what not. Thankyou for your feedback though and I hope this will be useful to you in a couple months! :)
I like Thief for the most part for its mobility and quick strikes, but most of its tricks and abilities are wasted in PvE, Story and Fractals (where I primarily hang out) 'cause all NPCs see right through its deceptions. (Same with Mesmer- most NPCs walk right past their Illusions, Phantoms and Clones as if they're not even there... which, well, _technically_ they're _not_ there, but you get my point.) I _want_ to use it more, but if NPCs can see me even when cloaked and it only uses medium armor, then, well -shit,- what's the point?? The Deadeye's rifle (even an ascended Zojja one) is boring, under-powered and has almost no stopping power. For a "sniper" profession, it also has shit range (1200 versus 1500 on Ranger's longbow!) and draws too much attention to itself. On paper it looks fine, but in practice, uhhhhhhhh no. I can't imagine Deadeye is very popular in PvP _with_ a rifle equipped...
At the time this was recorded you had to mess with the camera in a very specific way to get the skill 2 to not travel through your target. This would make it awkward to use again quickly. As you seem to know though, it is a DPS increase to use it and it was fixed two patches ago.
Mike The Fish So that was a patch. I was curious why every video I watched who used the 2 skill went through the enemy and ingame my thief did not. This explains alot. Thx for the reply.
It's no longer the meta for thieves, although it's still good damage. Condition daredevil and power deadeye have achieved 32-33k+ whereas power DD is only at 30k. Still respectable though.

Mike is back
Title - Get to know your profession: Thief (Basic PvE Guide)
- Talks exclusively about Daredevil
At the time, there was no good build in base thief and deadeye didn't exist.
Finally! :)
Stealth allows skips tho
Like in urban battleground fractal you can the whole barricade part :o
great vidio, just a tip, venoms share automaticly on theif now=)
Of course, gah, wish I could add a little annotation correcting myself, silly UA-cam...

Interesting, what did you type into UA-cam, this could be very helpful. I appreciate this feedback.

What makes Necro underwhelming? I really like the aesthetic of them. :)
Just the numbers. Pretty crappy in PvE. Good for PvP though I suspect every profession can be good in PvP. I don't play much myself.
I appreciate you taking time to answer my questions :) if its purely a number thing, I guess I'll roll Necro. I love the aesthetic and numbers can always be buffed. If anything, it'll drive me to do much better with the kit I have. Thanks man :)

I WANNA STEALTHHHHHH

"A little bit of CC" ? You're kidding right ?
nice
So the rotation is basically auto attack? What about the 2 Skill?
At the time this was recorded you had to mess with the camera in a very specific way to get the skill 2 to not travel through your target. This would make it awkward to use again quickly. As you seem to know though, it is a DPS increase to use it and it was fixed two patches ago.

Is this still up to date?

Deadeye now deals 39k and power daredevil with staff autoattck is at 33k
That will get hotfixed I reckon. Stupid balance patch all round.
Mike The Fish
Not really
They fixed the improvisation bug but the rest is fine in their opinion
Kinda borring class
Yup can be. Upside is simplicity though and sometimes that fact alone yields higher results.
