HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much for this video and tip about VPN. I am from India and I am going to do my first solo budget trip to Shanghai next week.I was looking for places to explore and food to eat. Do you have videos on how to get to these locations? It will be a great help for someone like me who doesn't speak Chinese. Are there food enthusiasts groups I could reach out to for help while in Shanghai?

That's why all you see and hear are negative things about China which are on many occasions blown out of proportions intentionally to make it look ugly and inferior against western ideologies.
The "real" people of any given country usually are nice to visitors who bother to learn their language. This guy has an outgoing personality and speaks Chinese. How many westerners do you think speak Chinese? I visited a friend stationed in Germany one time. While he was working I was walking around and seeing the sites. I was offered a ride around to the nearest bridge by someone when the ferry appeared broke down on the other side of the river. My friend told me later that the Germans "didn't do that." Well, obviously they do. Don't judge a country until you meet the locals.
This was the coolest thing ever! I can't speak Chinese nor am I Chinese, but I felt like the Chinese people were my own when I understood what they were talking about. Great video. Beautiful city, kind people, amazing food. Hope to be living there again this year! 👍💙
Wow Chinese people are extremely genuine and kind! I wish I had more time to travel around Shanghai when I was there for a layover :(
Chinese people seem so nice like how they offer you their food in England if you wanted someone's food you would just be told to get lost 😂
More because he is a foreigner. Were him a native Chinese, "get lost" scenario can occur...
The Chinese seem to be really proud of their cuisine and enjoy showing it off. Can't blame them, it all looks good.
Chinese bring their best to guests. If you reject it would be very rude. You should at least give it a try.
Don't think so, it's not because he's a foreigner, because he can speak good Chinese!
iqbal chaqim What's the problem?

Heading to Beijing, Xi'an, Shang Hai in April 2018, started following The Food Ranger early this year. Thanks James and Ting Ting for your efforts in the food culture and showing us the real parts of the street food culture. looking forward to so much. Keep adding in the 'outakes' at the end, as they are as honest and entertaining as you are, awesome.

This is great way to improve China/Canada diplomatic relationship. He should be an ambassador to China.
food in China is really cheap and very delicious 😍😍
Nico
Nico welcome to China、We are nice to tourists.😉
Considering the average income of families in China, I don't think food in China is cheap.

Ha, ha. 四大金剛 are not the "Four King Kongs" but the "Four Heavenly Kings" of Buddhism, namely Vaiśravaṇa, Virūḍhaka, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and Virūpākṣa (he who hears everything, he who causes to grow, he who upholds the realm and he who sees all). Each Heavenly King watches over one cardinal direction of the world -- east, west, south and north. They have nothing to do with overgrown apes.
leon lai, andy lau, aaron kwok and jacky cheung that are the 4 heavenly kings lol
OK. The modern 四大金剛. Ha, ha. But can they ensure 風調雨順 in the world?
What is it when Confucius become a king?
These are Buddhist deities. They have nothing to do with Confucius.
chill it's a personification

Food Ranger you are the best food person on UA-cam! Keep it up those sesame noodles look amazing.
4:01 - I feel like he robbed you :( He said it was by weight yet there were 50 million bones in the leg that he gave you. Only about 1/4 of it was meat
Yeah, agreed.
since xinjiang
lamb is really expensive in China now... So I think the price is fine. Maybe a bit high but definitely not 'robbed'.
上海甚麼都貴
Apparently, the price was not set for meat, but for the whole thing. 40 CNY was not expensive at all for what he bought.
so happy you posted a new video!
Great to hear from you Daina!
Haha, at first i was thinking if the host is from Canada or US.
But, his friendliness and happiness made me able to believe he is from Canada, and then he confirmed himself. lollll
haha good comment!
Jason Salz Yeah that's exactly the way that I tell Canadians apart from Americans.
Jason Salz hi 5 ,was wondering the same thing tell :P
Canadians are really nice people, not arrogant like Americans
I enjoyed watching these videos, never been to China, nice to see how the locals eat and socialize with one another, I like how Chinese stick to their own culture and don't try to copy other peoples
