Three minutes into this video, I went and bought the game, and played two runs, and then came back when I was too exhausted to punch properly anymore. On the run I'm in the middle of, I have a grabbie-hand on my left arm and a massive nailgun on my right arm, meaning I can literally grab the dogs out of the air, hold them down, and spike them into the ground for easy punching. Game of the year 2024.
Holy shit "Can I grab a car? I can! Who wants to get hit by a car?" Habie... it's shit like this that makes me go, at 9am on Saturday mornings, "Oh boy a new habie video will be out soon!" Never change ❤
Perfect implementation of motion controlled mechs the way I'd imagined them! I'm surprised the first game to do so turned out to be a brawler and not a shooter, but it's a great match! I was getting weirded out by how many VR games use throttle-and-stick type controls when VR is perfectly suited to convey piloting an agile, humanoid mech that moves like you do. There's no way to convey that you're controlling a large thing that's following your movements unless you're actually using motion controls, and it's especially smart since seeing the pilot's arms allows for that 1:1 feedback that is so very important for game feel, while the mech's limbs can be slower and heavier which is better for balance. Keep experimenting, VR devs! We're barely scratching the surface!
Its been talked about in the past week by some Major VR youtubers and Im so here for it. The only thing I want more in this game is the story. Its too short but they will probably fix that in the next updates
Because it’s Gorn but with mechs. In my opinion, a game that’s fun for 10-15 minutes before you get bored with doing the literal same thing over and over. I wish people would stop “praising” these super simple games. We need to hold VR developers to higher standards so we can get more things like Half Life Alyx. Too many VR games are just mobile game quality but in VR.
This game feels so smooth and fun to play! Developers did a great job. Also in every run you unlock new items, buffs and encounters permanently for the others. And difficulty increment based on your performance! Awesome.

I just got this game yesterday and it is the most fun game I've ever played. Also, my favorite weapon is the fingers cause i love grabbing the enemies (especially the lil bug things (first enemy of the game)) and tossing them around like they're ragdolls. XD

bought this game yesterday, only needed one review and i absolutely loved it smashing every feels amazing, the movement system is as good as it gets, and holding enemies in the air then hitting them while still holding thm feels so cool
I got it on launch day, played for hours, and all day the next day, and I LOVE it so much!! It would be so cool to be able to reattach your arm at 1 hp when it gets ripped off, I wish we could do that.
imagine someone makes a pacific rim type mech that 2 players (or a smaller one with 1 player) control and fight kaijus and shit and each control the systems by coordinating their hits
This game genuinely looks and seems like it feels amazing, the way the mech arms have a little delay is so cool! I might just get a vr headset for this game
The fact that there hasn't been a VR Evangelion/Gundam/Macross game (no the Evangelion VR arcade doesn't count) where you fight in a semi destructable city is actually so heartbreaking
Thank you so much for covering this game! I completely missed it on the Steam page and almost missed out on a fantastic game. It's been awhile since a VR game has just left me grinning the entire time.
This looks like exactly what we wanted from VR. The next expansion I want is to fight in Jaegers like Pacific Rim, god I want a be a huge robot VR sim so badly.
Prediction: when VR does take off, it will be heralded by the return of the murphy bed. This is the only way most people will be able to get enough space to pay VR.
I absolutely loved Underdogs, I almost beat it first try but ended up dying to the final stage of the final boss. I did finally beat it on my fifth run using the nail gun and weird C U B E arm that does a lot of damage, I don't remember what it was called. Now I think I'm going to try to beat the game with only one arm. I'm sure its going to be so much fun...
You should try virtual virtual reality it's basically the same thing but with less fighting and more shooting and more multitasking and more butter and more rainbow goo
One thing I really like is that you can't move IRL. This allows you to always know that you're far enough away from things. I been swinging full force like never before
4:15, this is such a weirdly hard line because he needs to use genuine effort to punch the other mech. Habie got some main character energy is all I'm sayin.
For all the people interested in more Mech games in VR: Also check out Iron Rebellion! It's much earlier in development than Underdogs, but where Underdogs is all about punching Iron Rebellion scratches the itch of more ranged mech fights, akin to games like Hawken or MechWarrior. I'll have to check out Underdogs the next time I pick up my headset!
Just it being a mech game reminded me of the old PSVR mech multiplayer shooter game that looked really cool but I forgot to buy it. Probably all the way back in 2015-2016 at this point or something like that. A real shame
Yeah, I had to buy this. The last good VR mech game we got was back in mid '22 with Vox Machinae, so this is pretty good. I wish there was more of a boxing influence with the hitting instead of swinging your arms from side to side and doing the Mario, but maybe that can be a future update with different styles of fighting.
The rogelike thing sold it for me i like the trill of knowing death matters if you don’t know, roguelight means you carry something from the last failed run rogelike you lose everything and start over
We're gonna try because you're 100% correct, but physics-based MP is a big deal and we'll need the game to sell well for us to be able to responsibly take that on.
It's funny how VR really shows how athletic a person is. I was like 2 hours in and super exhausted and I'm a 240 pound boxer. It's also funny seeing UA-camrs hit a junk dog in the face if it rolls back slightly and i'm throwing full force punched and getting dogs stuck on the walkways of the crack zoo. Should definitely come back because they made a sandbox mode where you can use your past runs set up to play around with. (Since you said you really liked your first run set up)
Brings me back to game-testing vox machinae. VR mech games had such great potential, then zuckhole burned out all PCVR to move mainstream VR to quest. Mechs have been surprisingly underutilized in VR
There's 3 or 4 different games but they all focus on multiplayer instead of single ; sucks when VR playerbases are so so much smaller than standard.
