Blayne where did you get that soulseek shirt????!! So sick..I NEED IT
Video #1 is unnavailable in Brazil!!
@@Dead_ham i need to know
Thanks BangerTV!!! You all rule!
Surprised Verminous never made it somewhere on this list.
Much love Metal Blade!
Let's hear it for Orbit Culture!!!!
hear hear! one of my favorites.
For me, best album of the year
YES! FUCKIN' DOMINANT!
Yes! Orbit Culture just released the deluxe edition of Nija with a new videoclip of one of the two bonus tracks. One of the upcoming metal bands!
Everybody missed the ball by not including Orbit Culture. Like did nobody hear it?
Nice to finally see Warbringer get some recognition. Such a good band with a good thrash sound. Can’t believe I didn’t see it for some of the BangerTV crews top albums of the year!
Well Dekay mentioned it, well Warbringer as an whole.
lots of love for WB here
Warbringer fucking rules!!!!
The Paradise Lost album is so good
SO GOOD
I'm so into Draconian right now. Can't stop listening to Under a Godless Veil. Definitely my album of the year
Respect, it's certainly up there for me, probably in my Top 3
I have to listen to the new Anaal Nathrakh album a little more, but 2020 was such a good year for metal. My #1 has to be Orbit Culture's "Nija." That album was such a surprise and perfectly made, it's gonna be hard for them to top that album.
I really dig Nija...
Dark Tranquillity is number 1 for me!
YES! That and Paradise Lost for me
was so so so so good
Y’all should definitely keep a thumbnail of the record, and the band name on the screen while they’re being reviewed. I keep having to scroll back to remind myself the band name to add to my “listen soon” list. Just a SUPER friendly suggestion for next year, if we aren’t all dead by then.
Just pause the video.
Pen & paper still works.
6:18 this guy has lost the plot completely
Solid list, metal fam. My favorite album of the year was Nija by Orbit Culture.
@@ultimatehonkler6926 Yeah, like I'm going to accept an opinion from someone named Honkler.
This is the best record Paradise Lost has ever put out. Happy to see it getting the praise it deserves
Wow, hot take, but it is super polished and quite good with some great songs. Draconian Times is still at the top for me personally. Likewise it’s nice to see PL get some well deserved love on Banger.
I agree! The best album of PL
Thou & Emma Ruth Rundle collab is legit af. My album of the year.
Cats are the best, and homophobia is lame af.
Oh man, no Orbit Culture on the list. Still, I'm definetly gonna check these albums out \m/,
yes that is blasphemy, it´s like canceling christmas. Best album of the year
Totally agree, Nija destroys anything on this list!!
Exactly
Absolutely. They're not big enough I guess but talented enough to be on nr. 1
My favorites:
Sodom - Genesis XIX
Kvelertak - Splid
Deftones - Ohms
Paradise Lost - Obsidian
Sepultura - Quadra
Warbringer - Weapons of Tomorrow
Killer be Killed - Reluctant Hero
Cryptic Hatred - Free from the Grave (Demo)
Glacier - The Passing of Time
Carcass - Despicable EP
Great shout with KbK
Finally someone mentions Kvelertak! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who listened to that album, it's so good and no one talks about it
Sepultura 🤘
That Kvelertak is so much fun. And that KBK is a blast too. They've really meshed since the debut.
For me code orange and (thanks to you guys) havukruunu made the best albums of this year.
Just like your reply, I love how big the gap is between genres that people like in metal and how people can grade whats their favourite albums. I started last year still loving Devin Townsend the most but ended it loving bands like Anaal Nathrakh, Svartkonst and black metal extreme music the most.
I've wondered for the longest time why BangerTV isn't bigger.. Well I finally got it! You guys are so underground that you call bands like Trivium ,Testament or Dragonforce "mainstream". If you want new fans maybe you should think of branching out to "mainstream metal" a bit more to get some new fans.. As not the biggest extreme metal fan I skip about 2/3 of all your videos because I know those won't interest me even the tiniest bit... This coming from the biggest Amon Amarth fan! And a friend of W formerly of Catenatam Lucem, Cavus and Woland...
Hey Mats, what bands do you want to see on BangerTV? List them all!
Also, what were your favorite albums this year?
@@BangerTV well, it's not about me, I've been a fan of you guys since you started, I'd lke for you to grow as an outlet and, you know be bigger and better than the crap rock/metal clickbait media like blabbermouth... But ok, my top 3 are, in no particular order: trivium - What the dead men say, Ensiferum - Thalassic, Hatebreed - Weight of the false self. With honorable mentions going to Body Count - Carnivore and Dines X Heafy...
@@BangerTV But it's not about me, as I know that my tastes in metal are particularily weird.. At least if one listens to the "trve metal fans"... I just want one of my favorit metal tubes to grow exponetially!
No love for Sepultura's Quadra?? Sam Dunn's gonna be pissed....
Reincarnage - Reap.
Cropsy Maniac - Cult of Cropsy.
Of Feather and Bone - Sulfuric Disintegration.
Feastem - Graveyard Earth.
Napalm Death - Throes of joy.
Putrid Offal - Sicknesses Obssessions.
Black Curse - Endless Wound.
Deathspawn - Reverendus.
Akhlys - Melinoe.
Deeds of Flesh - Nucleus.
Great list!
@@grindcoremaniac Thanks mate 👍🏾
Inquisition
🤘Black Mass for a Mass Grave🤘
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Dagon and Incubus
Inquisition changes its style ever so slightly for every album. This one is more melodic but I find the guitar work more unique, memorable and intricate than all the others on the Banger top 10s.
Agreed. Always loved them 🤘🏽
I liked 10 - 6 way more than this list. Obviously some good records though.
sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles
I was thinking the same thing.
Sepultura - Quadra was the album of the year for me
Pretty great. Casagrande is unbelievable.
@@danrobichaud He is just pure violence on drums. And he creates some of the most creative drum patterns in metal
Concordo
Definitely agree
Quadra SEPULTURA best 2020
Struggled to narrow it down to 10, so here's my 13 in no particular order:
Marilyn Manson - We Are Chaos
Grey Daze - Amends
Body Count - Carnivore
Warbringer - Weapons Of Tomorrow
Havok - V
Lamb Of God - Lamb Of God
Static X - Project Regeneration Vol 1
Deftones - Ohms
Devildriver - Dealing With Demons Vol 1
Necrophobic - Dawn Of The Damned
Black Stone Cherry - The Human Condition
Killer Be Killed - Reluctant Hero
Dark Tranquillity - Moment
DARK TRANQUILLITY are too damn consistently great for their own good. They should make a couple garbage records in a row so they can get the attention they deserve once they "come back".
UNLEASH THE ARCHERS!!!!!!! sadly not included.
:(
it's ok. it's number one in my heart. and i assume yours as well. lol
Guys. I love the channel and all the people. But y'all really need to pick better clips of the songs to showcase. How about playing one of the chorus lines in a song rather than the intros? Sorry if this came off as assholish, but people like me who haven't listened to many of these bands I'd like to get a better sense of what their songs are like. And intros don't really convey it. Thanks 🤘
Agreed
Fully agreed, or at least showcase a stand-out section of a song with vocals so you get the feel for how the band sounds doing what they do.
Undeath - lesions of a different kind, is the album of the year. Really good death metal for fans of death metal.
Some absolutely sick riffs in this record, one of the best DM albums this year for sure.
I’m surprised the new Oranssi Pazuzu hasn’t come up at all in any of the top lists, (unless I’ve missed it.) My personal metal AOTY.
Yes sir! I mentioned this in a prior post. It's an amazing piece of music. Maybe it was too weird for some.
It is literally an other worldy experience
actually surprised about that too!
Orannsi, Skáphe, Akhlys. Some solid 'odd' bm from this year. Vonlaus too.
Also, fucking Omegavortex for just being bloody savage
Yeah. I give it Album of the Year.
Secret Weapon of the year: Orbit Culture - Nija
Wow, never really expected to see a black metal band in the top 5! Necrophobic definitely deserve it though, they've consistently put out really good quality black metal.
Sepultura - Quadra is the album of Year for me
Banger viewers made a pretty good list. A couple I have not listened to and need to check out. Glad to see Butcher get some love. Never listened to Paradise Lost but new album has hooked me
our viewers rule!
I'm so pleasantly surprised that Obsidian got album of the year. It had been one of my most played albums, but I did not realize so many people were digging it so much.
the album is such an emotional journey so well crafted album
Posted this is the Banger Facebook group last week, might as well post here.
My top 10, in no particular order:
Blasphemer - The Sixth Hour (Death)
Bütcher - 666 Goats Carry My Chariot (Blackened Speed)
Dark Fortress - Spectres From The Old World (Melodic Black)
Graceless - Where Vultures Know Your Name (Death)
Midnight - Rebirth By Blasphemy (Blackened Speed)
Vredehammer - Viperous (Death)
Hellripper - Affair of the Poisons (Blackened Thrash)
Panzerfaust - The Suns of Perdition - Chapter 2: Render Unto Eden (Black)
Necrophobic - Dawn of the Damned (Melodic Death)
Draconian - Under a Godless Veil
Great to see Necrophobic in the list! My #1 this year.
I just gave it my first listen, after seeing this list... instant top 5 AOTY for me, and I mostly stray from black-influenced bands!
Paradise Lost is a well deserved winner. Necrophobic is also in my top 5 and it seems Banger Fans love Thrash... but it was a good year for metal. But hey, who else should produce the soundtrack of a pandemic that alienates people and makes em stay home... alone...
Love this channel
and we love YOU
For me album of the year goes to Cytotoxin's Nuklearth! 2020 was an awesome year for metal records, maybe because all the artists had a lot more time to record in stead of being on the road??
To anyone who liked the Necrophobic album, i'd like to recommend Cosmic Terror by The Spirit. One of my personal top 5 albums of 2020.
+10
The Spirit rules
Nice will check it out!
that album rules!!! it's perfect tone and i even dare say it has a bit of melody. it's just the perfect balance.
Where is sylosis?
It didnt get enough votes
LOL
Idk. Ask Josh. Although he might be wasting his talent over the new Architects or something.
ETERNAL CHAMPION
SKELETON
UNDEATH
DEEDS OF FLESH
nope
Besides the sentimental value to the new Deeds of Flesh, what made you love it?
My top 3 woulb be: 1.Lik 2 Havukruunu 3.The Ocean Collective. If I had to do a top 5,I would add Sodom and END to complete the chart!
is that a Frozen Soul hat?
you know it!
Though there were some good albums on the top ten, in my opinion the fans missed some very important albums. How did we miss Lamb of God, Sylosis - Cycle of Suffering. But my 2 favorite albums of the year were, and this is a very unknown band. Winters Howl - Instinctive and Ingested - Where Only Gods May Tread 🤘! If you haven't checked these 2 albums out, I strongly suggest you do!
Hey, thanks! Both of your top picks are unreal! WOW, dude.
Here's my top 20 metal albums of 2020. Hope you find some new bands or releases you missed this year:
20. Oceans of Slumber - Oceans of Slumber
19. Путь - Юдоль скорби
18. Code Orange - Underneath
17. La Mer - Kingdom of Hell
16. On Thorns I Lay - Threnos
15. Thy Catafalque - Naiv
14. Mors Principium Est - Seven
13. Afsky - Ofte Jeg Drömmer Mig Dod
12. Together to the Stars - As We Wither
11. Akhlys - Melinoe
10. Aeternam - Al-Qassam
9. Black Crown Initiate - Violent Portraits of Doomed Escape
8. Ulcerate - Stare Into Death and Be Still
7. Paradise Lost - Obsidian
6. Xenobiotic - Mordrake
5. Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - May Our Chamber Be Full
4. Kaunis Kuolematon - Syttyköön Toinen Aurinko
3. Psychonaut - Unfold the God Man
2. The Ocean - Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic
1. Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment
Dude, that On Thorns I Lay is excellent. Love their vibe. Turns out a lot of my favourite extreme metal comes from Greece. Beautiful stuff.
@@danrobichaud Yeah it is really cool album and I think if someone likes Paradise Lost (especially their earlier works), who are bigger and more well known band, they should checkout also On Thorns I Lay. Definitely nice death-doom sound.
Warbringer’s Weapons of Tomorrow and Testament’s Titans of Creation. Are the shit! I’m going to give Necrophobic a try. And give Sodom’s Genesis XIX a review!
New Necrophobic rules 🤘🏽
I’m listening to it. Right now!
I also recommend V from Havok. I think that one is better than Testament because the Testament record has a lot of filler on it.
@@alex_flamer I feel like the last few Testament albums have had a fair bit of filler on them. They're definitely not bad, but Formation is their best post-2000 album for me. Big fan of V too, felt like Havok really got their focus back for that album, as opposed to the admittedly proficient but slightly bloated Conformicide stuff.
Check out Heathen's album....my 2020 pick
Can we move past the thrash? Bring on the hate.
I’m enjoying the thrash for now haha
Long live Thrash
Necrophobic was my number one this year. Happy that they get the recognition they deserve :)
Now that is an excellent top 5 list.
AGREED
Sodom, Havok, Onslaught, Annihilator, and Deftones would be my top five.
I forgot Onslaught, damn it!
Yes ! I don't know why nobody is ever talking about Annihilator...
@@skogenhevner5677 Because it's just rehashed riffs from their better records?
Man, that Testament album cover is awesome.
The lack of code orange and REZN here is mildly infuriating.
Lamb of God
Paradise Lost
Dark Tranquility
Testament
Entre otros... Me hicieron la cuarentena 🤘👌😉
Dark Tranquillity always releasing great music, no BangerTV coverage. My Dying Bride releases their strongest work in decades after a near tragedy that almost derailed the band, no BangerTV coverage. Heathen returns after a 10 year hiatus to release the best Bay Area thrash album of the year (sorry Testie fans but it's true).. BangerTV no coverage. But a kid in his bedroom releases an "extreme" album on his own label Constipation Records, with high school notebook art and a sloppily scribbled logo, and stop the presses! You have 5 different teenage contributors slobbering all over the most derivative riffs and tired drums, and each giving it 6/5 skulls. You're asking about a democracy project from me, stop ignoring the legacy bands! It almost feels like an unspoken ageism at this point.
This is a list popular vote from the viewers of the channel. Chastising the channel doesn't really make sense. Testament and Paradise Lost are legacy bands that made the list. Even Anaal Nathrakh has been releasing music for 20 years now.
On a broader note, things are a bit limited this year as I'm sure you're aware. Coverage takes a hit unfortunately.
@@kitoyobeni1 This is UA-cam. There are no set rules about which video is the correct video to comment on how the channel generally is performing. But this is not a new phenomenon of them ignoring legacy releases, it's been like this since it's inception. The fact that the viewers had to pick 3 of them emphasizes my point, and it speaks to a larger problem about the decline of metal album sales again. I'm given reasons of time and being short-staffed for them not reviewing more albums, but here we are with a bunch of new faces, each with their own added free time due to the many lockdowns, and the year still comes up short. Video production is a home job, so I hope you'll forgive me if I don't understand why output hasn't remained steady or increased. I'm perfectly fine with 240p videos with potato mics talking about new releases, but the metal surge of the 2010s is ending, and this is the worst year to stop supporting bands who usually rely on touring for income... But then maybe the purpose of the channel isn't to support the metal scene at all. When you find out, let me know what it's purpose is.
@@AlucardsQuest If you're worried about supporting bands, shouldn't the legacy bands be better suited to weather the storm than the smaller independent bands?
DT and Testament put out solid albums, but truth be told I already have dozens of albums from the 2 and many of them are better. New sounds attract more attention, even if they are in throwback genres.
Top 5 in no order
Deeds of Flesh- Nucleus
Beneath the Massacre- Fearmonger
Azarath- Desecration Saint
Ulcerate- Stare into death and be still
Stillbirth- Revive the throne
Beyond its sentimental value and all-star lineup, what makes you love the new Deeds of Flesh?
Dude the album cover of endarkenment...😂😂
How cool is it that a band like Necrophobic got voted in to the top 5??? Awesome!!!
The sad part about my METAL life is that I know there are bands and sounds that are MISSING from my catalog and I feel like it's looking thru a haystack trying to find a needle. Over the past 10 years bands like Gojira and Mastodon have filled my voids but there are bands waiting for me. I am going to try that Ulcerate Album but I think I love more MELODIC stuff.....
Try Sylosis and Orbit Culture!
@@BangYourRadio I have Sylosis but never heard Orbit Culture. I will give them a shot - thank you.
If you want a completely fresh sound, check out oranssi Pazuzu
I listen to a few songs of Orbit and I was impressed. I'll dig there their library more.
Paradise Lost?! I think Imperial Triumphant is my #1
What? No Orbit Culture in the top 10!!!
Moment by Dark tranquillity was album of the year for me
Bands that should have made the list imo(but they're not):
Black Dahlia Murder
Carnosus
Carach Angren
Dark Fortress
Haunt
Katatonia
Mr Bungle
Sepultura
Spirit Adrift
Scour
Sylosis
Virocracy
We were very surprised TBDM and Sepultura didn’t make the top 10 as both were fantastic albums
@@BangerTV Absolutely, 'Quadra' is a fantastic album, with all the influences that made Sepultura great througout their history.
So happy to see Paradise Lost at number 1! Well deserved
Sepultura is the fuckin' best.
Obsidian is also my top pick. Catchy choruses, crushing heavy riffs , classic PL at it's best. 💀💀💀💀💀
Love to see Paradise Lost at number one - yay British Metal!! One of my albums of the year, love the new Sepultura, Pallbearer, Ozzy, Trivium, Enslaved & Burning Witches as well.....
Havukruunu was the aoty for me
Yay anaal natharakh !!
I'm surprised how little attention the new Inquisition album has gotten this year. It rules
I mentioned it in my review 🙌🏾
@@SamAstaroth yeah I noticed that. So far that's the only mention I've heard in any year-end lists. You think people didn't like it?
@@SamAstaroth wow I feel so out-of-the-loop, I was totally unaware of this story. Well that would explain a lot. Thanks for the insight
@@Zanzibarbarian88 checking in on this further, i can't 100% guarantee that he actually wasn't charged. So i hope he didn't actually do those gross things he was charged with cause ya i can maybe respect someone's music but i personally can't support people that would do unjustly things
I'm surprised myself - I guess, Dagon's transgressions have something to do it. It doesn't make sense to me to boycott them as half of the best BM albums were created by assholes, plus in the current culture of wokeness and virtue signaling, I have the counter urge to side with the "transgressors". Spectacular album!
Same as Deekay here, I thought Weapons of Tomorrow was just a good album back when is was released and not as good as its predecesor but the more I listened to it HOLY SHIT this guys actually made a nearly flawless record just in terms of songwriting
So happy Endarkenment made the cut. That album has been one of those musical lifelines for me this year, like Surgical Steel was a while ago. The rest of my top ten, in no particular order, would be:
Dogma of the Deceased, Carnosus
Palimpsest, Protest the Hero
V, Havok
Zombie Dragons from Outer Space, Drakum
The Affair of the Poisons, Hellripper
Delirium, Hazzerd
Solitude in Madness, Vader
Uinuos Syömein Sota, Havukruunu
Genesis XIX, Sodom
CREATURE // Ex Cathedra
is the best album of the year, without really any question! Problem, not enough know of its existence. Crazy innovative black metal with trombone, which actually doesn't really sound like black metal but like a fucking continuous futuristic medieval orgasm. Recommended sample track: Neo Habilis
Thanks to everyone suggesting Orbit Culture 'Nija'. Amazing album that's definitely going on heavy rotation.
The upper top5 seems like a joke in comparison to the lower bracket 😂
Gotta like getting the, 666th like on a metal vid. \m/
Pleasantly surprised to see Nathrakh make the list, love that band and album. I completely missed Necrophobic, need to check that out.
It's a fantastic album 🤘🏽

this list is very flawed. Albums that should be on the list: Gaerea- Limbo, Unleash the Archers- Abyss, Napalm Death- Throws of Joy in the Jaws of Deaftism, Killer Be Killed- Reluctant Hero, and Svalbard- When I Die Will I Get Better
what shouldn't be on this list: Testament, Warbringer (Woe To The Vanquished was better), Annal Nathrak (A New Kind of Horror was better), Butcher 666, The Ocean, and Bell Witch (uh Mirror Reaper ?)
...and Oceans definitely deserved a nod. I get the feeling a lot of people slept on it but it’s a phenomenal record.
it was Pre-World Falling Apart. those times are a distant memory lol but i really liked it!
@@rocioiribe5841 all the more reason to include it on a best of list! Haha
Hell yeah, Testament's Titans of Creation representation! \m/ \m/
Sara, what were your thoughts on the recent Pallbearer album? There was no mention of it from Banger I think.
They always put out good albums.
it's a warm sad hug. just let it happen. i enjoyed it very much!
Fuck Yeah, Testament in the mix! And, Holy Shit! Thank you for introducing me to Warbringer! Wow....The video for Glorious End is so powerful. I feel for those who've died in senseless wars and I'm grateful that I never had to fight one in this lifetime. Cheers! And bless the fallen!

makes sense with that cover art
Thanks for turning me on to Paradise Lost-"Obsidian" BangerTV hosts and fans. I just finished listening to it. Fantastic album. Particularly love the guitar playing on the last song-"Defiler".
Great list! Only a huge miss. Did you guys listen to “Quadra” by Sepultura? The concept of the album passing through four phases of the band makes it diverse, creative, and sometimes melodic while still being dense, fast, and heavy. The drums, guitars, bass, and vocals are in their best form proving this is the best formation of the band. A 15 album band in their best for sure. The production is fantastic too. Quadra is simply the album that I’ve listened to at least once a week since the beginning of 2020. For me is not only the best album of Sepultura (taking 1st place from 1989 Beneath the Remains) but the best album of 2020.
i see a soulseek shirt...
Oh well Enslaved is my top one 2020, without mentioning Draconian, Dark Tranquility or Havukruunu, ohms is indeed awesome
Didn’t see Verminous. Must have been an honest mistake.
Not my AOY but glad Paradise Lost topped the list. And what's wrong with everybody gushing over this Orbit Culture album...
CULT OF LILITH, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, INTRONAUT...put forth badass stuff for 2020
Sylosis and Orbit Culture definitely take 1 & 2 spots for me, in no particular order.
I loved them both too. Sylosis came back with a bang and Orbit Culture just constantly keeps getting better.
I would call myself a Paradise Lost, katatonia, and Necrophobic fan to some degree, but no one voted for Inquisition's album?
where i can find that soulseek longsleeve?
I have most of these, and under normal circumstances I'd agree... Bit the only album I have listened to every day since it came out is "nija". It's the most repeatable album imo this year. Clever, punishing and the production is second to none.
Orbit Culture just released the deluxe edition of Nija with a new videoclip of one of the two bonus tracks. One of the upcoming metal bands!
Cirith Ungol or Mr. Bungle should've been #1. Paradise Lost?? Hipsters..
