this album was JON'S best work to date. this album also feels like an updated MOTHER SHIP with a sprinkle of After Burner mixed in .Loved it
Jon was masterful this entire album. I loved his parts. Honestly, they felt like a unit... a perfectly oiled unit. Such a good body of work. I'm so proud of them lol

I think in Pray to God for your mother that chorus has all 3 vocalists singing at the same time. I think that's what gets it for me, after a few listens it became my go to song
I'll give it a few more listens. I know in the past I've ignored songs at first, and come around to them later as they've grown on me. Give it a couple more go's lol I'll see if I warm up to it.

this album has magnum opus written all over it. from the callback to their first album in the very first song to the many leitmotifs sprinkled throughout, this is one of my favorite albums of all time.

My first listen through was definitely an experience... I had such a fun time. And I'll always cherish it because the first impression this album gave was just... so emotive. I had a blast. Definitely one of their best.

The back half is definitely one of the best in DGD imo, everything from Polka Dot Dobbins to the end is straight fire! Although For the Jeers and Ember are also 10/10. My absolute fave trio is from Long nights in Jail, Back on Deck and Current Events.
I definitely have to agree with you. The back end definitely stands out for me. Back on Deck, Current Events and Swallowed by Eternity are unskippable at this point for me 😂 so much new music is coming out and I'm still stuck on the Juice.
See im the opposite, i much prefer the first half the album, up to two secret weapons, but Pray to god for your Mother and Have a great life are stand outs in the second half for me :)

A surprisingly solid record considering its length! Most albums this long kinda fall off toward the end but they pull it off! Also Tim's work on this album is great. Amazing tone and amazing bass lines. RIP big man.
I was thinking the SAME thing. Often times when an album is really long, if the sequencing is even a little off, it could be hard to pull off. But this was so good. Tim did his THANG on here and he will be sorely missed 😭
I loved Jon's part in the beginning of Ember, I get such bad allergies and it was funny to hear him sing about that stuff.

I've been OBSESSED with "Feels Bad Man" it's so simple and just catchy as fuck and Jon goes nuts on it. The flow he has is amazing on this album. "Die Another Day" may be one of my top 3 favorite songs ever by them.

Loved this, something that happens to me a lot with DGD is that at first I'm into the singles but don't really mind the rest, but then i keep listening and the albums just grow so much on me.
As of right now my top 3 for this album are Current Events, One Mans Cringe and Cream of The Crop, overall Jackpot Juicer is just so good, how tf do they release 18 tracks and all are bangers.
You know, I also wonder how you release an album full of bangers. It's just great from start to finish.

Jon Mess (dirty vocals) is really amplified by whoever the clean singer is. In my opinion I think Jonny Craig's vocal tone and overall vocal ability was a perfect pair with Jon's vocals. Jonny and Jon had a seamless chemistry to where you didn't know where one part started and the other one ended, creating this beautiful downhill stream you could float on. With Tillian and Jon, there is still a stream to ride, it's just the turns are sharper.
All the songs are really great but Back On Deck stood out to me, it's amazing
The funky guitars on Back on Deck are so good... so are the guitars behind Jon in that intro on Current Events... fuckin killer. The back end of this album has pretty much got me stuck.

IMO start with the songs You Wanna Know, Everybody, and One True Prince. The first two are was got me into them, and I think they give a solid intro into what the band and their sound is like (to an extent, it changes a bit every album, and they have a broad range of sounds now)

I listened to so much Eidola before this album came out that I was fully aware of how Andrew could match Tilian’s range. Have A Great Life still hit me in the throat. Check out Houses Movement III by Eidola and you’ll see Baby Andrew’s vocals can actually go higher…

I freaking love Don Broco. Some of my favorite songs are T-Shirt Song, Gumshield, and Action (which was a single featuring Tilian, Tyler Carter of Issues, and Caleb Shomo of Beartooth). 'Technology' and 'Amazing Things' are both incredible albums and 100% worth giving a chance- I happened to see Don Broco live with DGD a few years ago and I didn't like them at first either, but I jammed the fuck out of 'Technology' in the first year of Covid and they ended up being my number one artist on Spotify the next year 😅

I don't blame you, he has quite the vocal ability. His performance on Swallowed by Eternity is my favorite on this. And One Man's Cringe probably.
I would say you're right about him(Jon) being the standout on this album also this album really heavily features Andrew Wells voice moreso than any of the other previous albums it's by far the best of all three vocals in this album not just in their use of Harmony but in the ways that they counter each other as well
The addition of Andrew on here was really welcome... he fits in so well. Any time I heard him on a song, it was like adding whipped cream to an already perfect ice cream sundae. Jon is the fudgey goodness all over it.
I'm a DGD lover and the one major song by Don Broco I could listen to was "Everybody". The "Bruce Willis" song grew on me too, but ehhh they're some what hard to get into lol.
I've heard that their constant morphing through genres makes them hard to get into! But I'll definitely give those a listen! Thanks 🥰

I think Pray to God For Your Mother became one of my favorites only after I stopped doing full album listens. Having it be the 16th song made me less receptive by the time I got to it. I remember a few days after the album came out I had it thrown in a daily mix or something by itself and was wondering why I slept on it so hard lol.
At any rate the album reaction was a lot of fun. You should consider peeping the new Royal Coda that just dropped!

As a long time DGD Fan (WISIRO) there's no band i have enjoyed more and has stuck with me through the years. But i ABSOLUTELY agree that jon mess and will swan are the main attractions. Can't give these guys enough love for their music. Just saw them for my 16th time :)

Fantastic album. Might be their best work. Definitely Tilian’s best vocal performance yet. Sucks about the allegations but he definitely went out on a high.
I still hold onto hope that Tillian can work on himself and make his way back to the band in time. But if he can't, this is definitely the perfect high to end on. This album was passionate, fun, and everything we needed.

I hadn't thought about the album title that deeply tbh... Very odd honestly considering lol but yeah I do pray Tillian can clean up cause DGD hasn't seen the type of success since he joined and it's the consistency that they needed. Losing Tim and Tillian in the same year is really sucky 😭
If you love Jon mess, you should definitely check out "secret band" it's all of the members of DGD but a clean vocalist. It's just Jon screaming. It's amazing! Also great reaction!

I think this is a good mix of MS and AS (which is sooo criminally underrated because you have to listen to it more for them to grow on you) which I think are their 2 best albums (with tillian) imho.

3 good ass vocalists, we can't forget about Will, that man's rapping is fire. Also while this whole situation was going down I sort of distanced myself from talking about it and waited to see how it would sort out, he has his issues but I couldn't see him doing that stuff, but I knew I was biased and it was owed to the alleged victims to be heard. That being said from everything I have seen it has been sorted, The person seems in a better place with his addiction, and it seems like some of the claims against him were debunked. Not all of them, but publicly nothing has been talked about further and the healthiest thing I can do is just keep enjoying my favorite band's music. While I remain slightly wary about him as a person, I feel the band is made up of good folks and I trust their judgement to allow him back in the band.
I dont have an answer as to why, but the second half of this album is hitting me harder than the first half

my personal take on the 'situation' when it came to The Album, is that "This is Tim's Last Album, Tillian and Jon could literally kill somebody and Im listening to this album" because I have too much respect for all of the members of the band to let the actions of one detract from that. If Tillian IS a PoS does that suddenly mean Im not allowed to Love Matt Mingus' drumming? Will Swans Guitars? Andrews Melodies?
That's honestly how I felt about the album, myself. It was unfortunate that things came out but that doesn't mean I'm gonna completely ignore the efforts of the guys who've been there from it's inception! And I'm glad I didn't because this album was amazing. I still listen to the sweet jams on this daily.

I'm not sure how I feel about the album, myself. I mean I like it. I love it. Not an issue. However, it's really.... Consistent for a DGD album. It felt different in a way that made it feel very slightly not DGD.
I get the "slightly not DGD" feeling but I wouldn't say it's unwelcome. Different, for sure, but I feel like the added differences feel like an evolution of some sort. But I get what you mean. Sometimes I don't vibe with a new DGD release initially and find love for it later. Afterburner was a great example of that for me... Didn't like it very much at first but I keep going back to it 😂 thanks for stopping by! 🍓

Surprised you weren't a fan of Pray to god for your mother. I kinda agree its probably one of the least "interesting" songs, but the lyrics did it for me. Hit close to home for me.
I'm definitely gonna give it more time to grow on me. I always find that the ones that dont hit hit, end up hitting differently later on. If not, that's okay! They have so much to offer besides it. This album was straight bangers!
That last part of Count Bassy where the tempo changes and will goes nuts is pretty much one of their best guitar runs ever! Very early 2000s vibe
