It's honestly so wild to watch these videos now and realize 90% of everyone in these bands were just kids at the time touring non-stop

Mid-00's Metalcore Kid here! Can confirm there was this weird alliance/association between us younger 'core kids and the neon pop punk kids, probably because we had to borrow each others' hair straighteners. Or maybe it was cos I was in Canada and by virtue of isolation and smaller fanbases there felt like less of a divide here in those scenes, like you'd probably see the same kids at a Motionless In White show that you'd see at Forever The Sickest Kids show. It was pretty hilarious come to think about it.
Personally I was never a huge Attack Attack! fan (and I did think the crab-core joke was hilarious) but I can't deny that they were surprisingly influential and inspirational to many bands that came after. Plus, we got Beartooth later on and that ain't no bad thing neither.

Man we really don't get shitty quality demos and 240p videos on a bands recording journey like we used to. This brings me back to my old band when we would record shitty stuff and play in local shows with other metalcore, posthardcore bands. I can undoubtedly say that the 2008-2012 scene era was definitely a time to be alive.

I know I keep saying this, but it literally feels just like yesterday that I was some angsty teen that thought this "underground" movement would never die. Present day, my 50+ year old parents listen to BMTH and ADTR and now I don't feel so much like the edgelord I used to think I was. Still amazing music that I'm so glad I was around for the original days of. Attack Attack might catch a lot of flak, but they really helped to push several genres forward.

I've seen them twice on "The 10 Years In The Black Tour" and then on their "Treehouse Tour" headliner the following year where they played their set for over an hour. It was probably one of the best concerts I've ever seen in person and the presentation with the strobe lights and LEDs/glitchy light effects were so worth it alone. I still wish Zach Johnson would have been screaming because it would have been a crazy a*s show but both shows were still fun with Devin Oliver on all vocals regardless. I almost died in the moshpit the 2nd time I saw them because it was so effing massive and the venue was so small and crammed in. Definitely worth it though!!!!

I was generally more into deathcore and grindcore kinda stuff back then, but as a synthesizer nerd and lover of electronic music I always had love for them. I actually played synths in a couple vaguely crabcore-ish local bands around 2010 and I’m not gonna lie and say I didn’t rock the “jog-in-place-with-the-Microkorg” stage moves because of Caleb in the Stick Stickly video, haha.

When I first heard a7x bat country and the music video. I fell in love with rock music. Then I started watching head bangers ball and heard escape the fate. And from there was all kinds of bands lol

Got to meet Johnny franck at a bilmuri show two weeks ago. It was absolutely amazing experience to meet someone I listened to as a kid growing up

Awesome video. Very well-researched. This was one of my favorite bands in high school. Healthy Normal and Dr. Shavargo Demos were so dope. Wish Healthy Normal made it to an album, but it would've lost a lot of that grit and emotion that made it special.

I found them on complete accident, I was at Hastings looking for a new Cd to listen to and I saw the album cover and I picked it up, read the track titles and just bought it, fell in love almost immediately

I can’t even watch your videos anymore bc they bring me back to my highschool and college days so hard that it’s a bit disconcerting. Like everytime I hear taking back Sunday, breathe Carolina, asking Alexandria, ADTR, attackattack, etc.. it just kicks me right back to there, and “there” wasn’t exactly a super happy time hah.

You're really nailing this 90s Mike Myers/Mike Ditka fusion look.

Attack attack honestly got me into screamo. Never realized they took influences from I See Stars. They were also a favorite for me

I remember being hooked by the intro of stick sickly then turned off by the auto tune vocals. So i never paid attention to the band until last year, when i was going on a youtube nostalgia trip. I heard the song, was addicted to it instantly, now i consider the album to be one of my favorites of all time!!

It’s truly wild how I’ve known the “Crabcore” meme and those stills since the time this happened, but never knew it was AA

Austin Carlile is practically famous now to the point where if you hear or see the name, you know exactly who he is.

As someone who grew up in Sac around this time, it was crazy to see everything blooming. It reminds me a lot of the soundcloud era from 2016.

I remember seeing Attack Attack at Subt in chicago where there were at least like maybe 20 30 people into them and I for sure was a fan then representing them in the very oh so very small pit we had going. They opened for the former lead singer of underoaths country gridcore band Maylene and the Sons of Disaster where he threw the mic over the upstairs balcony into the middle of the floor and was screaming. Good times good times. Attack Attack was a decent band and I of course had a good time back in the day.
