- You're wondering how much a windshield replacement is going to cost for your Model 3 right? Well it ain't cheap.
I ended up getting a stone chip two weeks after picking up my new Tesla Model 3. This stone chip resulted in me having to replace the windshield on my brand new Tesla. How much did it cost me to have a new windshield installed? Did I take it to a Tesla Service Center or use a 3rd party to do the work? We'll answer all those questions in this video.
At the end of the day, I took my Model 3 to the Tesla Service Center to have it serviced. I mean the car was less then a month old, so why not just let them deal with it. How was the experience using the service center, and how did they do replacing the windshield? Overall the experience was ok, but I would have expected a little more attention to detail (you'll see what I mean).

Tesla service just estimated my model3 front windshield @ 1410.76.
its the exact same as the model Y but nearly 50% more expensive where I live apparently. I'll use Safelite before tesla now and remove my 5star local tesla review.
I do a lot of freeway driving - 35k miles/yr on my 2022 MY- so I’m already at 75k miles. The windshield is a rock magnet! I collected my first chip about 6 months in but decided to delay replacement until a crack formed. Fortunately the chip was on the passenger side and a crack never formed. But in the next 1.5 years, I’ve collected a total of 8 chips! Recently 2 cracks have formed so I will now be replacing my windshield. I’m glad I waited because it would have been pretty disheartening to have replaced it shortly after getting the first rock chip only to continue collecting so many more.
Yea it’s crazy. I’ve got two cracks on my current windshield. This will be replacement number 3 for me.

That's the worst. I took another one about a month ago, and I'm going to have to replace my windshield again.

Bigger the window more chances for rocks to hit. And all tesla windshields are pretty good sized. As well as pitched windows like jeeps and broncos and big rigs ect.and honestly oem is not necessary. Seeing another of fles and oem constantly lately. Price comparison with quality your getting is worth it.
I know. I’ve got two more cracks from two separate chips on my current windshield. This will be the third replacement. Plan to do some comparative shopping again to see if anything has changed.
had a rock hit my windshield Sunday on my then 7 day old Model 3...taking the car to Safelite Thursday, as it is covered by insurance so no cost.
That stinks. I'm starting to think these cars attract rocks. I've got another crack in my second windshield that I've been dragging my feet on getting replaced.
I had a 21 m3p with 67k miles. I got a new one and stone chip-> crack 3k miles on the car (3 weeks old).
I feel for you. I had this stone chip and someone sideswiped me in a parking garage 2 months after I picked my M3 up. A little irritated about that.

Thank you! It does, but I have a higher deductible and as soon as you file a claim your rates will go up at the next renewal.
You should lower your comprehensive deductible to $100. Only increase your monthly by a couple of $.
That's what happened with my model 3 today, at 260000km mark.

Hello, did the service center need to calibrate your camera?
Unless they can calibrate them without driving the vehicle, they did not. I did not have to go through the recalibration after I picked it up.
