Dude ... I love your videos. I am just happy this one is about my stuff. Honored 😎
-I tuned these to be used with II II II II on default setting and cabs bypassed. They work with anything to be "true in the room" feel, but if you want the experience I sought, this is the way.
-These are going to need eq for a mix, just a like a cab would. Unless you like the grit as much I do ;)
-You are correct, these are passion projects for me, in truth for my own use. Glad to share and enjoy with those who have the same ears and tastes
    👏
-Black pack is a good sampler of sorts to get you a taste of the variety, but does not give you the control over mic position like others. They are one shots that I found to be unique and tasty

Yea these are wild sounding as hell. There’s definitely some eq in there, I seriously doubt that’s all from whatever power amp he used. Especially considering he states he used a neve style pre “into a neve style channel strip”; which to me, means eq. The low mids are nice cut, and the low end is hyper resonant. These are all moves I would personally make in the real world, and it’s already “baked in” here. Whatever it is, I totally agree, never heard low end like this, and it’s not out of control at all, and the clarity of these is still unmatched. Huge fan.

This channel is one of the few that goes down to to the nitty gritty of tones and hardware. Learnt a lot more about IRs and how Otto IRs are the best out there for heavy thicc tones.. Especially the part about IR packs that are just mic placement which has a difference that can be achieved with a small EQ change.

Otto Cabs are amazing. They're my overall favourite. They are so fucking heavy sounding.

Nice, the War Yall was a nice touch. That was sort of a thing in metalcore at least in the south in the early 2000s. I remember bands like Maylene And The Sons of Disaster doing that to their cabs

Welcome back, fella! I have a few of these packs, interesting, moreso given that he's used some preamp for extra favour. Doesn't quite gel with my real amp, though that's probably down to user error.

Another killer vid man. Ever since the Dontsell cab came out, I kinda forgot about other IR's. Otto does fantastic work. I mean the Blackpack on its own is such a tone powerhouse.
The War Yall cab is some of the best Marshall tone ever. At least IMO. Hours of fun with the 1111 and other sims.
    Cheers :)

You are a brave man to use the cap, I always go for position 3 (or where the cap meets the cone) or blend position 1 with 3

Got to say that my old skool faves from Otto are the R121 captures. The ones in the newest VI IT pack are stunning to my ears.
They certainly added some extra top and low end to that 8 string intro and reminded me of how cool mid-era Amon Amarth used to sound! 🤘🤘

Might have to check these out for my "messing around at home by myself" use-case. So many IRs sound super out of place and uninspiring outside of a mix. These sound alot more "fun" than the usual mix-ready eq'd to hell stuff out on the market.

    • @OTTOAUDIO
      @OTTOAUDIO Рік тому

this is exactly the experience, none of these are mix ready in the traditional sense -- Although, I'd like to think that the fine tuning I did makes them pleasing to the ear, and most of all, an experience in the room.

I'm pretty much just using virtual style cabs lately as they are in essence just 1000's of impulses organized in a easier way to reference in real time for finding mic positions and mic types. I hate trying to find impulses blind and having to load them and go just of file names
