I vote for the 1976 version. Remakes, if they're made at all, should expand on the foundation of meaning laid by the original, not just copy the original shot-for-shot, which is pretty much what this does.
***** Agreed, Jerred. I recant my previous statement after watching the entire Omen 2006 remake: It wasn't a SHOT-BY-SHOT remake, and it had pretty solid acting, but it certainly was a LINE-BY-LINE retelling of much of the same dialogue, with simply an updated cast. The FX in the 2006 version are slicker and more realistic, particularly the head decapitation scene, due to today's CGI technology, but beyond that, yeah, the remake was pointless, and Fox would've done better to simply re-release the 1976 original Omen! Yeah, kids today wouldn't know who Gregory Peck and Lee Remick are, but I think they'd still get sucked right into the story.
I swear! The absolute scariest part of this movie, is the music. Probably the most haunting and evil sounding song ever. Still haunts me to this very day
That Was The Late Billie Whitelaw She Was English Actress From Early 1950's- Early 2000's She Died On 2011 I Think But Look Her Up I Agree With You On That One Not Question Hands Down
@@lorenepperson2678 lol you got the wrong Nanny !! The original comment is talking about the nanny that hung herself . The actress you mentioned is mrs baylock the second nanny.
Holly Kathleen Palance was born on August 5, 1950 in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of actor Jack Palance and his wife Virginia Baker. Holly was the first of three children born to the couple. She is of Ukrainian descent.
Correct. It sometimes happened with executions until a system was devised that took into account a person's weight and height when calculating the drop length required to break the neck cleanly.
The nanny in the 1976 Donner version was played by Holly Palance, Jack Palance's daughter. She did screen tests for Donner's next film: "Superman"; she was among the actresses considered for Lois Lane.
It's ridiculous how similar these two scenes look. From far away they virtually look like the same scene. The only difference is that the nanny in the original is prettier than the one in the remake.
In 1976 the hanging was a little unrealistic because a drop that far should have decapitated the nanny. The drop in the 2006 remake is rediculous. The nanny must have had some sort of super-neck in that one. A drop like that would have definitely yanked her head off.
Creepy fact - one of my nephews, when he was 3 or 4, was the Spitting Image of the kid in the 1976 version; I kid you not! That used to make me smile, but crept their parents out when I mentioned it at the time. This was 20 years ago.
I haven't seen the 1976 version, but I thought the 2006 version was very good, and I consider it one of the best movies I've ever seen, so it may be less better than the original, but it doesn't mean it sucks.
I have seen both versions. The original had more suspense and the music added to the creepiness, the suspense and the evil. I thought the kid in the remake was cuter and evil at the same time. You really should see the original. Some scenes were very, very dark. The hanging was nothing compared to what happens further in the original movie, especially the graveyard scene and the other horrific deaths. The music really added a powerful effect to the tone of the movie. Much like in halloween or psycho.
100% agree...This kind of movie dont need hd or remake,The original take is the best.It brings memories back when you watch the original scene and you realised how frightened was you of damien.I was 5 years old when i first watched this movie and it scared the hell out of me even more than exorcist.
The full version of the original movie has been posted by Boomermovie1. I've always felt that the real star of the 1976 version was the soundtrack. There is a good mixture of pulsating, freaky music when the nanny makes eye contact with the devil dog (the rottweiler) before hanging herself.
Actually, I thought the remake wa pretty good, even if not as creepy as the original. I liked the way it explained things a little more, and showed the mother's fear and knowledge of what her son was a little bit better. On the whole, I guess the original was still better, but I still liked the remake. Interesting how the father grabs and comforts Damien in this suicide scene of the remake, instead of the mother.
Omen 1976-2006 differences: 1976- Very good actors (including the kid) , the suicide is realistic and the kid does a face that is cute and diabolic at the same time; 2006-The kid's face after suicide makes me remember a drunk guy, the suicide is too much exaggerated and the dog is much more scary but, 76's dog scene is much better thou!
harvey stephens. he was in 2006 version too. he played a reporter outside the embassy after the suicide. he never went into full time acting after is role as damien
@AssassinTheHasson 1st scene - she stands on the roof. 2d secne - she jumps. and last scene-nanny hangs already dead. This is a full version of the suicide in both films
2006 nanny was so much cuter and her hanging far better, I like how she switches from heels to ballet flats. Her flats sure made her hanging so much better =:D
@TDATDIAlina It was the ultimate act of loyalty. To sacrifice ones own life for their leader. In essence, she likely was sacrificing her soul unto him.
For some reason the dog staring at the nanny was more scarier in the 2006 version, in my opinion. Anyone else? Hell, I was even terrified at the dog in the beginning of the movie Fear Dot Com! Animals and horror movies go together like children in horror movies.... not a good combination. LOL :-P
@Nexils Yes, the new kid is WAY too old for the part and the mom TOO young! WTF do they actually believe that we are going to fall for a young 20 something having a kid that old? He looks at least 12! The original had Lee Remick who was in her early 40s. Her character was married to a very important military official which gave premise to how Damien would rise to global domination. Its funny how this new pseudo director would miss such an important aspect to the story's premise
im normally critical of modern movies, but i reckon the new ones better, and a pretty good movie all round - cus i wasnt a die hard fan of the original, i can view them both without prejudice. everytime i watched the original, i fell asleep, but the new one, kept me on my toes. great remake, in fact best ever remake of any old movie.
The original is almost always better, but that reminds me...isn't it time for a remake of the remake? Hollywood can't do anything BUT remakes, reboots or sequels and prequels anymore.
They could if they tried but now they're risk-perverse and are scared to take risks, they want something that's already a proven success and don't actually want to take a gamble because their corporate types that only live to make money and really have no knowledge of what makes a good story.
I did like how they shot the dog scene in the remake; it made it seem more intimidating and eerie without being too over the top with it. As for the actual hanging, I may have to go with the original just for how sporadic it is. In the remake, it goes by a bit slower, allowing you to predict what's going to happen more easily and not catch you off guard. But that's just me.
the remake version of suicide seemed more creepy, the way nanny was holding the rope around her neck blissfully before committing the suicide added spice to the scene although original movie suicide scene was very shocking !
im a grown ass woman and both version scares the HELL out of me every time i watch. i still close my eyes on some parts......no pun intended by the way lol
ON the newest version, I like how the director makes sure she loses a shoe so to say :folk nodoubt here, she died" Also, the Nanny "Oh look what a cute dog, I think I'll hang myself for the Damien"
In the remake version, the nanny's shoe falls and shatters a bowl of fruit punch that was on the table below where she was hung. (This video didn't show that part.) That scene was somehow extremely disturbing to me.
if your gonna do a remake you have to do it the good way, take the evil dead remake for instance, it doesnt have any of the same characters, and is vastly different in terms of style and is far more freaky, thats who you do a remake, you dont copy everything the original did
@ViceCityVacation Wasn't really paying attention that much. I think it 's just the dog that matters, not really where it came from. It also can be just coincidence.
Exactly! What was the point? Even in this one scene, it shows how closely it stuck to the original. It's close to being a shot-for-shot remake. If you're going to remake a movie, especially a landmark like this one, you should have some new take on the story or some new angle to tell it from. Or better yet----don't do it at all.
the 2006 version, well, what a pile of shite it really is,the 1976 film is an absolute class film, well directed by richard donner, yes, his first horror, and what a great job he made of it,hard to believe hes the superman director, well done.
@Blitzkrieg0811 i would describe the remake the way you talked about the original. also the reamake sufferd from laghebel speciefects. a kid who was tring to hard to be scary. the music was standard horror movie far. pluss in the remake those dogs came out of no wear. in the origenall it a slow builed. what was so great about the camera work. it SUCKED.i respect you opion. but could you peas tell me what you mean by your stament pleas
The remake sucked. I liked the original better, it had tension in it. and the 2006 was a spot for spot remake of the 76 version. The only good point of the 2006 version was Liev Schreiber
@Nexils No, the kid in the original is most sinsiter kid I had ever seen! The new one is pretty lame and does NOT incite terror in any way shape or form.
@Blitzkrieg0811 The remake was awful compared to the original. The original was far better in all departments. It just looks creepier and feels more creepier than the remake.
I honestly wonder what the film producers told these kids what their role was going to be. I mean did they need any kind of knowledge on the devil or did they pick out the creepiest kid in the auditions?
Much better job in the original 1976 version (Holly Palance)...The window behind makes all the difference!
I vote for the 1976 version. Remakes, if they're made at all, should expand on the foundation of meaning laid by the original, not just copy the original shot-for-shot, which is pretty much what this does.

That's called a sequel
'76 all the way...
I swear! The absolute scariest part of this movie, is the music. Probably the most haunting and evil sounding song ever. Still haunts me to this very day
The nanny in the 1970's movie was extremely beautiful!
That Was The Late Billie Whitelaw She Was English Actress From Early 1950's- Early 2000's She Died On 2011 I Think But Look Her Up I Agree With You On That One Not Question Hands Down

The remake Nanny would probably have had her head ripped clean off from that height.
ikr?!?!!?
Correct. It sometimes happened with executions until a system was devised that took into account a person's weight and height when calculating the drop length required to break the neck cleanly.
The original nanny had wider, more expressive eyes, so you understood what was happening in the scene better.
The nanny in the 1976 Donner version was played by Holly Palance, Jack Palance's daughter. She did screen tests for Donner's next film: "Superman"; she was among the actresses considered for Lois Lane.
1976 is SO Superior in every way.
The black shepherd takes this scene to a whole new level of creepiness....
Me thinks he's cute.
Definitely. Rotties are the best dogs in the world and adorable - that black German shepherd looks exactly like a canine from Hades.
Lol, the original is so much better.
I agree
I disagree. I liked the 2006 version bcuz the way they showed the body fall was more realistic
No
@@JJ_Justice no it isnt lol. Her head would have popped right off from that height
It's ridiculous how similar these two scenes look. From far away they virtually look like the same scene. The only difference is that the nanny in the original is prettier than the one in the remake.
Do u know what is remake?
Richard Donner (director) made incredible camera effect when zooming in their eyes Rottweiler dog, Lee Remick and Billie Whitelaw in hospital scene.
The kid who plays Damien in 2006 looks far more creepier than in 1976.
And thats a bad thing. Damien should look unassuming.
1976 Version seems more sinister than the other one.
Love this video. The song sounds so disturbing, so evil, so satanic its a perfect match! Great video dude.
It's Ave Satani gregorian version
much kill
much hang
many suprise
such sad
very depressing
many cry
such old
hmmmmmm i vote for the 1976 one

There is always someone who hangs around too long.. :P😱😱
"I'm doing it all for you Damien! I'm doing it all for you!"

The birthday party needed a pick me up anyway
Well done. Having the two versions of Damien wave to each other works well and puts a nice button on the montage.
I haven't seen the 1976 version, but I thought the 2006 version was very good, and I consider it one of the best movies I've ever seen, so it may be less better than the original, but it doesn't mean it sucks.
the reason why it doesn’t suck is because its a copy of an already good movie

Still scares the shit out of me. I'm watching at 1am with the sound down 🤣
Damien in both films ARE so adorable ☺️☺️
Fantastic score in the original. Jerry Goldsmith's only Oscar for Best Original Score. Nominated 18 times.
good movie my baby sister wanted to watch it with me but she ran out of my room after she heard the music
Ah, good point. But they should have just re-released the original at cinemas - that would have been great :)
This is a great editing job :)
The Nurse who is alleged to have committed sucicide in London 2012.
For some odd reason that woman looks like Princess Kate Middleton.
yes... 😂🤣🤣 and wasn't there a nurse who hanged herself in London 2012.
The nanny is top notch good looking..
The original films nanny is cute, the 2006 remakes, nah...

The '76's baby sitter had a psychopath' s expression, so it was not difficult to predict what would happen next...

Harvey Stephens (Damien Thorn in The Omen of 1976) has a small role as a tabloid journalist in The remake from the Omen 2006.
@Nexils I totally agree. The black German shepherd in the remake was MUCH creepier
1976!!!!!!
@TDATDIAlina It was the ultimate act of loyalty. To sacrifice ones own life for their leader. In essence, she likely was sacrificing her soul unto him.
Christ... the newer one is done so over the top. The OG is sudden and realistic. Way better.

The scariest thing about the 2006 movie is that Damien looks like Jake Gyllenhaal's head on a kid's body.
I love this Ave Satani remix!!!
Jerry Goldsmith's original score is the single most terrifying musical score I've ever heard.
Anyone considering getting knocked up or adopting should be required to watch The Omen.

@lambyiii How fucking creepy is that... and with the soundtrack this movie scared the hell out of me...
Is this song for sale any where cause i want it
The 2nd dog fits the role more.
A la primera flaca no se le sale el zapato por la fuerza del tirón,,,seguro los tenía bien puestos y eran exactamente de su talla.
Wich is the name of tje song ??

To bad the sound is muted, but still I get a good impression of which one I should see
Don't care what anybody says, the remake was a good movie,
I'll be honest, I think the remake was better. The original was too abrupt and hollow. The newer one made use of darker camerawork and music.
The nanny's head should have popped off in the 2006 version, that's a long drop hanging.

@ViceCityVacation Wasn't really paying attention that much. I think it 's just the dog that matters, not really where it came from. It also can be just coincidence.
I think the only reason they made it was because the year was 06/06/06. I guess they didn't want to miss out on the opportunity.
One of my favorite movies
the remake is soo much better than the original one!!!!and the kid in the remake is cooler
Never saw either one;what was a significance of the dog?
The dog in the second one is so much cuter.
Hellhound in 2006 version looks badass (not that there's anything wrong with originals rottweiler).
I agree totally. The Black German Shepard is a great lookin' dog, Man. It was an excellent choice for the remake.
I never understood why she was selected to commit suicide. What threat did she pose Damien?
the piñata is too high, the kids wont reach it
Exactly! What was the point? Even in this one scene, it shows how closely it stuck to the original. It's close to being a shot-for-shot remake. the dogs were just looking for left over food.
@Blitzkrieg0811 I agree with you. I loved the remake. I've seen the old trilogy, and this version is better.

I swear there is a person called Damian in every 70s movie
I totally agree. Except maybe the haircuts they have in 1976.
The remake sucked. I liked the original better, it had tension in it. and the 2006 was a spot for spot remake of the 76 version. The only good point of the 2006 version was Liev Schreiber
This music is beyond epic
Ikr? Damien was a better actor in the first one!
TTYLXOX
@Nexils No, the kid in the original is most sinsiter kid I had ever seen! The new one is pretty lame and does NOT incite terror in any way shape or form.
I liked both versions, about equally well. Casting was excellent in both, too. Of the 1970's trilogy, I still like Omen 2 best.
2006 version doesnt come close john, sorry, but each to there own
The 1976 version is better, but I still think that the new version of Damian is ten times as creepy.
What song is this?
Como faço para assistir esse filme
@Blitzkrieg0811 The remake was awful compared to the original. The original was far better in all departments. It just looks creepier and feels more creepier than the remake.
I honestly wonder what the film producers told these kids what their role was going to be. I mean did they need any kind of knowledge on the devil or did they pick out the creepiest kid in the auditions?
Why is it so popular nowadays to take a movie and fuck it up?
As usual, the original is better & the '76 nanny was hotter. Not sure why that needed mentioning, but there.
