Watching that match reminded me of watching Alcaraz's breakthrough match against Stef. This kid hits his forehand like a truck and his ability to convert points in pressure points was amazing. He will go far with this humility and raw talent.
The way he played the match, one couldn't tell it was his first Grand Slam main draw match. The way he handled the press conference, one couldn't tell it was his first Grand Slam press conference. A true champion in making - and doing it very fast.
João is talented, humble and very honest in his interviews! 2025 will be his year!! We are seeing a new talent being born, and at just 18 years old, he will be a Grand Slam champion soon! O BRASIL TE AMA!!!!!!!!
When's the last time in the men's game, has a player outside the 100, in his first slam, in the first round, beat a man in the top 10 in straight sets??? That's now 14 matches he's won in a row.
@@tonho303 That's a great one with Kurten. Was amazing, I think Kurten won the first slam he played which is totally incredible which was at 20. This Fonseca is two years younger, a teenager. Be interesting to see how his tournament goes. By the way I was thinking Chang. Won the French Open at 17.

Finally João in GSs! Welcome! He's an incredibly talented guy and a hard working tennis player. I've been watching his tennis for over a year, his progress is impressed. Muitos sucessos, João! 💪🎾
I am Brazilian and I have been following tennis for 40 years, having watched Grand Slam matches in person in New York and Paris, as well as ATP finals in London and Shanghai. In the last 20 years, I have followed with great passion the careers of the Big Three. With the retirement of two of them and the upcoming retirement of the third, I came to the conclusion with sadness and nostalgia that I was putting an end to my passion for the game, when suddenly this meteor called João Fonseca appears out of nowhere, of whom I had never heard a few weeks ago. He has an extremely vigorous game, is confident, humble, intelligent and good-looking. I've watched some of his interviews in our native Portuguese, where he develops these characteristics more easily, which gave me the conviction that I will keep my passion for the game for at least the next 10 years!
We have many good coaches in Brazil, but unfourtunately, few of them prepare their pupils head. João's coach is one of them. The philosophy is "don't miss a point trying to get the fan's applause; keep fighting all the time with one thought in your mind: the match finishes only after the last point. Never give up."
This guy reminds me Roger Federer. Roger did look him when he was young. No wonder he is a fan of Roger and plays like him. Wow they both are Leos. Guys you are looking at next Roger. Watch Out!
Fantastic guy! I am glad Roger is his idol. They look alike too. Honestly, as a Roger fan this is the first guy I am comfortable rooting for since Roger retired. His complete all round tennis reminds me of Roger Federer at 20yrs. I hope injuries will not stop Joao from getting to the very peak of tennis. Congrats boy!
We really need a brazilian hero in tennis again. I grew up watching Guga, but i have a feeling João will go as one of the best to ever do it, giving Djoko vibes.

After Ayrton Senna and Guga it would be great if we could celebrate a victorious Joao Fonseca!
Very polite young man..extremely humble. Great game..he will have a good career
Greats are always this way!
I'm not sure about humble ... on the court he was doing a lot of fake grunts and weird noises to try and throw off Rublev.
@hello-i1fdsfsde6s I didn't watch the match but coaches do teach games manship sadly
@@hello-i1fdsfsde6s do you play tennis? What he was doing is absolutely normal....when you have to play D especially...come on
