I am 80 kid.. sampras agassi, usa for me was always the reference from tennis… And now how good it is to see some UA-camrs talking about our talents, soo good and so respect for you guys!!! By the way, my name is João, im 42 years old and in 1998 i’ve been on nick bolitieri trainning a lot, amazing!!!!😊
I am brazilian and a big fan of your channel. You are amazing. Fantastic analysis as always! Curious fact: when Fonseca was 2 years old the yoga instructor of his mom said he had never seen a kid of that age so developed on motor skills. He is very special, for sure, and learns FAST.
Congrats on such a complete and spot-on analysis. Which I was at Florida to hit with you. Anyways, as a young Brazilian who simply could't watch Guga play back on the day, I just couldn't be more excited to see what the future holds for João.
Yes this kids tennis is special, but what gives him a high likelihood to succeed imo is the relationship he has with his coach and team around him. My impression I got from interviews & next gen doc is he has a similar older brother type relationship with his coach similar to Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Fonseca is developing a very humble and mature personality for how successful he is at a young age & it shows how he handles difficult moments throughout matches. So many young prospects have gotten impressive wins over high ranked tour players to solidify they have top tier talent but where we see guys like Tsitsipas, Shapovalov, FAA fail is that they don’t have the mental strength or ability to solve problems themselves or handle the insane pressure in matches when things don’t go their way, or play their best tennis in the biggest moments. So far from Fonseca I’ve love how he’s carried himself & everything he’s said in interviews. Kid will be Top 25 by the end of the year no doubt bc he has it all as a tennis player, competitor and athlete
i love that so many young talents are rising and challenge the current players. that's the point of sports and generations. and it shows that every year there are people priming at the right time. and its never easy to win a tournament.
People seem to forget that real life is different from the virtual one, where information and events happen instantly. Take the examples mentioned in the video: FIRST FULL YEARS ON THE MAIN TOUR: > Roger Federer (2000): January position: 61st December position: 29th First title: 2001 First time at No. 1: 2004 > Rafael Nadal (2004): January position: 49th December position: 51st First title: 2005 First time at No. 1: 2008 > Novak Djokovic (2006): January position: 78th December position: 16th First title: 2008 First time at No. 1: 2011 > Jannik Sinner (2020): January position: 78th December position: 37th First title: 2024 First time at No. 1: 2024 > Carlos Alcaraz (2021): January position: 141st December position: 32nd First title: 2022 First time at No. 1: 2022
Excellent video, detailed analysis. It's good to be realistic about his evolution. Being top 50 end-2025 would already be great! Personally, I've been very impressed by Joao's defense-offense transitions. Even from a seemingly vulnerable position on defense, he's able to counter with a powerful and well-placed shot, and quickly turn the rally to his advantage.
It’s too early to say anything we have a over abundance of young 18 -20yr old talent in the atp and thats amazing how Fonseca is one of them and he is amazing but lets not take away anything from tien, or pericard or fils. These guy are young amazing talents and on a quick rise but to be in the top 20 to top 10 you need to be consistent, healthy and mentally tough. All these guys are showing signs of that but Alcaraz and sinner were already a few titles in by the time they were in their 18 th year and getting to the top of the rankings I do t think rn these kids are yet ready to take on the likes of those but may be top 20. This year will tell us lot. I just really don’t like the over hype of one guy when there are plenty of young talent exhibiting the same level or better let’s just hold our comments for rn.
Tien is in his 4th grand slam appearance (he got wc 3x to play the usopen). Joao made his GS debut this year and he is 1 year younger. Stop comparing their trajectories, they are totally different. And joao is a far better player
Can you do a video about Anna kalinakaya and how she's always getting injured because I swear like every match I watch of her she's either struggling with injury or just retires.
Agree that Fonseca is a amazing up and comer. Could you do a video about Lerner Tien because I think he is at Fonseca's level and has not up to this point gotten as much recognition.
Hype hype hype hype hype! It really does seem a new generational talent is emerging. I would not be surprised to see Joao win an M1000 this year. Maybe he'll beat Rublev in the Monte Carlo final 😅
I'm not too bothered as long as we don't get another era of virtually every tournament being won by a small group of individuals. The Federer, Nadal and Djokovic era was way too predictable an felt like a scratched record.
lol what? The kid is 73kgs and 185cms tall. He is lighter than most of the players his height. I’m not sure what you think you see in terms of his body type but you’re way off the mark.
Zverev and Tsitsipas were generational talents. As were Medvedev, Kyrgios, Thiem, Dimitrov, Fognini, Berdych, Del Potro and others. But then they just turned out to be solid pros, nothing more. All had the tools. But until tested, we will not know the fire and spirit of Joao Fonseca. We'll see.
Tien has a smart game without the same hype. João comes from a really Wealth family and has all the Federer team supporting his carrer, with sponsors included. Thien path is completely different.
Reading these comments are a waste of time some of yalls trash assessment of tien, sonego and Michelsen hurt my brain. Joao is in a similar league as the rest of these. What’s makes sinner and alcaraz different from him at 18 is the variety, tennis iq, athleticism and mental toughness and they had already won atp titles then. He is great and upcoming player with huge power. But so was Depotro and he was not better than Federer, nadal or Djokovic with less power.
So basically any teenager who makes the 3rd or 4th round of a grand slam is the future of tennis and will win multiple grand slam titles like Carlos Alcaraz did?? Ok. I see now.
I think it's a little bit too soon,it's true that he have everything to have a great future, but I think the win against Rublev was very possible not just because Fonseca is a better player but because Rublev have serious mental game issues that he still can't fix,and I also think that Fonseca is better than Sonego but he lost so let's not jump too high on this, let's see what happens in 2025 for him.
That’s because he had the pressure and was the fan favorite. Playing against rublev was him as the underdog, but he became the fan favorite, and the pressure got to him.😅
@@quirlll Definitely get that. But i feel players like Tien or Michelsen also beat top 10 caliber players and despite having the pressure and expectation, still managed to deliver and win in their next matches. Yet I don't know why they don't get as much hype. Don't get me wrong Fonseca def deserves the hype but I feel that Tien and Michelsen should get that hype as well.
@ Yeah i see what you mean, and you make a valid point. I havent focused much on michelsen and he has been very good definitely, no doubt about that. I just think his uprise came at some point and no one noticed. I think we just got used to him being a busy good player at one point. For tien, im not sure. his game style is more defensive and he can stay in a rally for longer, but fonseca has a more offensive gamestyle, and winners are cooler than forced errors. Not sure otherwise! Maybe because he’s South American and the Brazilians are doing wonders
His power that he generated on his shots vs Rublev was one of the most insane things I saw an 18 years old player do.

I’m pretty sure Fonseca will be even more dangerous during the clay season

Excellent video as always! Please do videos on learner tien and alex michelsen! theyve been very good for a while now!
Thanks, they are definitely players to watch!
Would also love to see a Learner Tien video
Coming soon...
Fonseca, Tien and Perricard are, without a shadow of a doubt, the future of tennis.

why doesnt tien get fonseca level hype?
I think cuz fonseca seem to be better technical and did hit the fastest forehand for instance. Tien is a nice underdog
Fr
Cause ppl who win next gen end up being top class.. just look at alcaraz and sinner 🔥
Probably because its 3-1 now and the Last 3 / 3-0 but Tien ist awesome that medvedev Match, best one by faaaaar this ao
tien's great at stayin in the rally, but fonseca's more explosive and hits more winners
his hoping technich when the ball comes slow is a weapon
3:25 He also played in Bucharest at the Romanian Open, he got a WC from Tiriac.
Hamad Medjedovic just won a Challenger and made the final in a 250.
He was injured after winning the Next Gen Finals.
He's not good at tennis though. And being physically out of it for over a year for winning 5 30-minute next gen matches doesn't sound promising

Could you do a video about Jakub Mensik?
There's no way you over looked learner tien he's still in the tournament and playing insane
Tien is in his 4th grand slam appearance (he got wc 3x to play the usopen). Joao made his GS debut this year and he is 1 year younger. Stop comparing their trajectories, they are totally different. And joao is a far better player
it’s crazy how good how this kid got
Im not crowning him next future superstar just a couple games into his tour level career. Though his potential is that of a world number 1 .
Thanks for sharing this video. ❤
Joao is extremely talented, but it is way too early to predict where his path will go. I would keep an eye on him for this 2025 season.
I think he and Learner Tien might be special
they did face each other in US open juniors final 2023
fonseca won that
Can you do a video about Anna kalinakaya and how she's always getting injured because I swear like every match I watch of her she's either struggling with injury or just retires.
Probably a nagging injury that she can’t manage to heal.

Agreed
@@ZPProductionsFilm then how did Fonseca trash him in every match they played? 🤣

Learner Tien is the real hotness.
Great kid but still way too early to talk about him in this light. No need to hype him up, let him do the job first.
Has a lot of power, but will need to slim down to gain endurance and speed against the best players. Not many top players have his body type.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves !
His fans are CRAZYYY
7:59 we did NOT ask those questions when we sawing who Rublev’s “victim” or “lucky loser” would be. Can’t call him a lucky loser though
Do a vid on Fearnley please he's such a good boy
Vcore will be best selling in 2025😁
Yes, but so are Tien, Michelson, Basavareddy, and Mensik. Fonseca also has been eliminated, while Tien and Michelsen are still playing.
Tiền is 1 year older, Michelsen is two and has more experience in almost every way
Hard courts are not his best surface yet
Yeah and he has a winning record against ALL of them. Also, this was Fonseca First Slam lol.
Too soon to say he is the future !
all respect to fonseca, but learner tien is going unnoticed for some reason; beat medvedev and went a lot deeper despite only being a year older
Fonseca es mejor
A year is a long time in this sport. And tien lost recently to Fonseca
I don’t find him all that interesting to be honest. We will see in the coming years. He’s a kid.
Nah apparently Tien is
If this Is a question i Say No he isnt but he can be a great player...maybe
2 things about joão first: VASCO DA GAMA second: remender this word brazilians now are fonsequisados
Isn't Fonseca a Flamengo fan though?
@theobuniel9643 no Vasco da gama
