Mark can't claim the players did this when he rolled extra dice for Jarlaxle and not for the dragon, used Jarl's legendary actions but not the dragon's, etc. He knew where he was steering this.
Meh. The point of Legendary actions is to balance BBEGs and other monsters so that they can contend with a party. If he uses the dragon's then the whole effect is counteracted. But still more fair to go with all or nothing. Hell a Gold Dragon that's been down there for a long time should have laid actions as well.
1:18:03 "I didn't do this. You guys did this." No Mark, you did this. I love Mark and High Rollers and ill get over it very quickly but this was the first time I was really disappointed in Mark's dming. Still overall enjoyable
Also, the Grappling break is not a saving throw, but an ability check. I really feel that though this was a one shot and a side game I was a little miffed at the multiple times the rules were twisted or broken. I enjoyed it overall nonetheless. Not hating on the whole game.
The staff requires attunement to use. Nothing Jarlaxle has lets him auto-attune to an item. Even if he did, Adult Dragons have legendary resistances. Disappointing that he just let Jarlaxle command the dragon.
@@lecram86 Well as I said before they had Fun and that's most important. Even if some of the rules were forgotten it was a just end forum this campaign. 😉
Man, teleporting into the vault doesn't work, but teleporting out does work. Bertie should have been able to do that. Even though the teleport spell does not work on unwilling creatures.
Two years late but i feel like Bertie should have been able to teleport out with a massive dragon sized hole in the ceiling. Ill get over it but i this is the first time ive ever been disapointed by some the decisions.
I’m kinda disappointed they didn’t pull some sort of heist move where they sleight of hand the portable hole off of Jarlaxle, like with the stone of galore
Late to the party but just watched this on Plex The words "get on with it" were uttered by me on multiple occasions. Can't believe how patient the Dragon and Jarlaxle were with what seemed like an hour long huddle. Was still fun to watch and reminded me of what I miss about playing with a group, but also what i dont. ;)
Bertie never used his boots or staff. That could have been a deciding factor. Also Fantastic campaign series, one of my favorites. Not as good as lightfall season 1, but really enjoyable to watch.
This was a great mini series. Loved the humor and style they put into this. P.S. Still would love to see a Boomer and Bertie spinoff, those two had great chemistry with each other, keeping things light and hilarious.
Aquamumba:mind waiting jax while we have a team huddle, sure im a patient man. *5 hours later Aquamumba:So we back stab jax and die *7 more hours later Aquamumba:We back stab the dragon and die *5 days later Aquamuba:So we agree we wait in the hut and see who's left to kill.... um where's all the gold Burty: jax asked me to help him carry it out after he killed the dragon.
I think how it should have ended is like this we pan back to where aqua mambas bodie is and zzz comes down and we find out the zzz is really aqua mamba
When Bertie does the tackle, I just imagine everything is slow motion and all the sound in the room is opera music as all of the arrows are flying through the air.
This was a great series. In fact all of your guy's mini series and one shots are spectacular, and they somehow always manage to surprise me. Two thumbs up, 10 golden dragons out of 10
I wish the party could have come out on top, but this series was awesome as a whole. I'd love to see more mini-series from the High Rollers, even if it isn't from a sponsored module.
um i hate to point this out, but is it me or did mark use the dice to force the direction of the story towards the way it went? As if i'm not mistaken he used extra die for jax, but not the dragon? Still quite an interesting turn of events and spectacular end
Steven McKenna I liked the fact he did it. The dice are kind a to force things. He can choose when to use it, what to force. Players can choose too to force something. I know its not what we liked i guess that he used it for the bad guy but hey the ending was great!
He hasn't used the extra dice for NPC companions for the entirety of the campaign so his being consistent hardly sways me despite disliking the downer ending.
@@stevenmckenna745 Big problem with D&D in general and the reason Blades in the Dark exists. DnD has broken me in many ways, but this campaign had me laughing from start to finish. From the players breaking themselves with their antiques, to watching Mark lose it watching the campaign derailing during character creation. Loved every minute of this. If Boomer and Bertie were to ever meet Grog and Scanlan, the mischief would not be manageable.
If you guys come back to this can you keep the fact that every halfling sounds like a 30’s gangster and that every Drow is French? Gives it that special something
hmm if highrollers was to have a pole about what adventure people would like to see them do, either a preexisting one or a few custom options, what would you want to be listed in the pole. I personally would love to see them do strad's castle
I hope they do dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a mini series in Ravnica would be cool. I doubt they'd do Strahd though because mark and trott have already played it. Storm King's Thunder would be cool as well. Or a follow up to Dead Reckoning, following Terryn
Am I the only one that thinks a sequal to this would be the most obscene and entertaining campaign ever? I mean A: they continue these characters and start a new campaign with a revenge plot or something, mamba could be like a revenant or like force ghost following the team to get revenge on banray, flir tries to escape and rejoin the team for revenge on ban ray as well, Bertie wants revenge for grundle with boomer and black viper reuping for some fun
That ending was fantastic! This was a great mini series as always. All the characters were fantastic (both PC and NPC), and I already can't wait for the next one. All that said, I'm sad this ended, but at least we still have the Aerois to enjoy.
Great mini series in general. Last episode caused some mixed feelings. I think the issue is mainly that the players don't make the group decision and then can't deal with that, going in a mixed directions or not doing anything. No issues with the DM actions, his game, his rules, specially with the players not keeping up all the time that well.
Yeah I'm disappointed they were so passive & indecisive about everything. Idk I would had faked a fight to distract the dragon but constantly roll perception to keep tabs on the invisible Jarlaxle & constantly messaging the dragon so he knew. They just sort of let him take the staff.

this episode may just make me stop watching High Rollers because of the bad plays and most of them from Mark not using dragon legendary resist or using lair actions. putting the staff in the portable hole as a free action. saying that ranged attacks have advantage on aqua mamba which they would not at best it would be a normal attack. jar being able to use the staff with no attunement or command word or anything. there are so many errors
All the rule errors did make me cringe quite a few times too since it so drastically affected the outcome... although being a DM myself I do understand how easy it is to make such errors and it's often better to just wing it than stop the game so you can check the rule book in case you don't exactly remember how some rule goes (or you just forget to even think about some rule existing).
