DnD Stats, As told by a tomato: Strength is how well you can crush a tomato. Dexterity is how well you can juggle a tomato. Constitution is how well you can eat a rotten tomato. Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that a tomato doesn't belong in a fruit salad. Charisma is how well you can sell a tomato.
I had my second session yesterday and our Drow monk skinned someone alive. We now have perfect elven skinsuit in our bag of holding - nat 20's are great for torture.
I watched highrollers at first and didn't keep up enough to where there was to much to catch up on so I am glad I get to watch this. Especially lucky since I just subbed to this channel today from Dice, Camera, Action.
I think the best evil character I've made was Captain Bloodscale, the Kobold Pirate, the most feared brigand on the high seas. In terms of class, with was an Eldritch Knight Fighter.
I like how katies weapon glows when ever unsheathed but also glows when ever within 120 ft of dragons. Sooo basically you have no idea if there are ever dragons nearby?
pretty sure it counts for dragon kin creatures as well as wyverns and drakes fall under the over arcing dragon category. So as far as you know there is a little psudo dragon flying around and your looking for a actual dragon.
Tom's character concept reminds me of a friend of mine who played a Scots leprechaun in another game system. Scots leprechauns, he explained to our bemused GM, are much like the Irish ones, except rather than jolly tricksters, they're surly and fighty. "Get outta my way or I'll piss on yer shoes!" was his catchphrase.
46:45 - I think what Tom was trying to remember about calculating ability modifiers was "Ability score divided by two, round down, then subtract five". Say your score is 14, you divide it in half for 7, seven minus five is 2, so your modifier is +2. If yours score is 7, divided by two is 3.5 rounded down to 3, three minus five is negative 2, so your modifier is -2. Simple and easy to remember. Alternately you can use "Ability score minus ten, divided by two, rounded down". It's a bit easier for scores of ten or higher but a bit trickier for nine and below. So score of 16, minus ten makes 6, divided in half makes 3. A score of 7, minus ten is -3, divided by two is -1.5, rounded down is -2. You just have to remember how dividing and rounding negative numbers works. EDIT: And Trott gets it from chat at 47:40.
Originally in 2nd edition they were that, they still can be that. Aasimars and Tieflings are mortals being infused with demonic or angelic stuff some way or another, whether through a cursed/ blessed bloodline, a child of a mixed relationship or aa a result of a pact.
They basically are. Tieflings have fiendish blood, Aasimar have celestial blood. Kim's playing one of the subraces. Theres Guardian Aasimar, Fallen Aasimar (basically a fallen angel) and a Scourge Aasimar, which are kinda in between, being less holy and good than Guardian but not bad enough to be cast from Celestia
katie half-drow courtier can be a "follower" of Kiaransalee the lich lover (fascinated with death and dead things) drow ex-god in the forgotten realms, but i think that monks of the long dead are monks of Shar in 3rd and 3.5 edition of the forgotten realms. How about this: She fell in love with a guest in court who was a necromancer and then she run away with him and place herself at his graveyard/temple/dungeon while spending some years contemplating death figure out some old scrolls in the library of his beloved and began studying martial arts. a) Then some adventurers/party came for her beloved necromancer who was an undead or something, but then they realize she was a living thing when they kill her, so to atone themself they revive her but not his beloved one. b) Perhap they were her own drow house who came to kill her and manage to do it so but destroy her body completely, her beloved one couldnt raise her as an undead because she had no body left so he manage to get a powerfull true resurrection so he can have her again and there on start to figuring it out if he would raise her now or wait so he could make her a powerfull undead knight or something alike.
im guessing that the magic shield is going to be changed or Kim's character is taking the feat that gives her character shield proficiency, cuz bloodhunter's don't got shield prof.
Lochie S monks are damage dealers. having high dc on stunning strike is nice but not great if your to hit is terrible. but wisdom is important too. but not the main stat
Lochie S if you're primarily monk yeah. especially for 4 elements monk types. you will run out of ki points quickly, especially at low levels. having a low to hit will hurt when that happens.
Wow. Way of the Long Death Monks sound a whole hell of a lot like the Euthanatos Tradition, from Mage: The Ascension. A group of death mages, the core of which come from ascetic holy men from India, but which have members drawing power from numerous cultural and religious practices throughout the world (Greek Cthonic cultists, African guides to the departed, druidic upholders of fateful oaths, Byzantine mystic assassins, etc.). They believe in the Wheel, the cycle of life, death, and rebirth that governs the fates and fortunes of mankind. Since (as reincarnationists) they see death as merely a part of a soul's long existence, they take it upon themselves to deliver The Good Death where they feel it is necessary. Usually to those who suffer and cannot heal, or those who are wicked and refuse to repent. Of course, they aren't (automatically) psychotic monsters, and will tend to give the Good Death only when other paths are unfeasible. All Euthanatoi experienced a close brush with death, either having had near-death experiences (which were often what Awakened them to magick in the first place), having a symbolic death of some kind, or undergoing a rite that temporarily cast their spirit into the underworld.
I think rolling stats is the worst optional rule. You always wind up with at least one person unhappy, but usually a couple (great way to start a game). Then you often get a person with much higher stats than everyone else (which I never liked because I'd feel like I was cheating). I say just have everyone choose between standard array and point buy. I think it's quicker and you don't lose anything. If someone _wants_ lower stats, fine. You get to have lower stats, enjoy? It doesn't make other players feel like they've been cheated and that person has _chosen_ to play at a marked disadvantage. Stats are less important and less interesting, anyway, than making the choices of class, race, background, personality, gear, spells (if you get any), and so on.
Actually rolling was the way it was always done. Point buy and standard array are the optional ways. With point buy and standard array you lose the chance to have an 18 or 20 at first level. With first and second edition you didn't get to improve stats except by magical items, so it was unlikely that you could get a high stat if you didn't roll it.
Usually do point buy because it's easier and people can make characters beforehand, but I have done a rolling stat variant that was a lot of fun and balanced. Everyone rolls 4d6, drop the lowest, 6 times. All the numbers are in a pool and everyone picks one score out if the pool at a time in a snaking order. Everyone gets a good score, everyone gets a bad score, and stat generation feels team based.
Important question: the music in the very beginning of the video: which track is it? How can I get it? Is it on the newly released High Rollers Soundtrack Volume 2?
Tornadolescent Hi! I have also been searching desperately for this music. The song you heard at first was New Horizons 1 by Jon Björk. You can find it if you scroll down a bit here: player.epidemicsound.com/#/similar/97231/ You need to buy a license to use the music from Epidemic sound, so there's likely not another way to download it. This is not on the HR season 2 soundtrack, but some other amazing songs are! If you want to know any other songs used in Uncharted Territory, there is a list somewhere in the HR subreddit. Hope this helped!
I have the strangest curse when I roll stats. If I have a character sheet in front of me, I can't roll above a 14. If I don't have a character sheet around I can't roll below a 16...
I think Katie was in doubt abour increasing constitution because of some faulty remarks from Mark. When you increase constitution, you add the modifier to hit points as if you had the same modifier from level one, not from the level you gained the ability increase.
Best character I've ever played was a deep gnome with minuses to every stat but dex. Which, in that wonderful way the dice can only make things more interesting, was an 18. Honestly the most fun I've ever had. Was an idiot, couldn't lift to save his life, basically made of paper, and had no charisma (I rolled a 5, no joke). But he was quick, and the best rogue I've ever played.
Here's the character I came up with while watching: Rokaan Suel Half Orc Acolyte Barbarian Path of the Zealot STR 18 DEX 12 CON 16 INT 10 WIS 9 CHA 12 AC 16 (Inc Shield) Speed 50 (mobile feat) HP 65 Skills; Athletics, Insight, Intimidation, Perception, Religion +1 Battle Axe - The Grim Executioner This axe was crafted by a long dead society of humans who would stage public executions of it's defectors, executions carried out by this axe. The axe cannot be broken by any normal means, it must by smashed by the very hammer that forged it, on the anvil it was forged on. It gives it's wielder confidence in battle, as it did, the rulers of its society. Rokaan was repeatedly used as a front line warrior by a large tribe of mostly Orc, Gruumsh fanatics. At his coming of age, like many of his tribe, Rokaan was put through a very long, very painful, and ultimately fatal ritual, to assure his soul an easy return to his body. He was raised from the dead more times than he can care to remember by their Shamans. Because of this he is covered in scars from mortal wounds. He has been beheaded, drawn and quartered, dropped into a pit of spikes and left to rot, the list goes on. Now that his this death curse has come to light, the tribe has sent many of its warriors to investigate different avenues, Rokaan Suel has been sent by the clan to seek out The Harpers.

Same
remember how awkward it was when he started with them? suuuuper awkward
Me too!! I love him and Reynard so much.
"This magic item glows whenever a flumph is within 120 feet of it!"
It is a friend finder!
When the going through walls was mentioned when the ghost slayer was talked about I immediately thought of part of Danny Phantom's opening theme.
Congratulations Trott, you made it to the end of character creation without your character dying!
Technically dying was part of his background
I had my second session yesterday and our Drow monk skinned someone alive. We now have perfect elven skinsuit in our bag of holding - nat 20's are great for torture.
Sir Cromsby...
I miss u
Wooot Wooot even more HR on D&D. Thanks wotc for supporting these streaming groups! Love the attitude towards the players of your game! 👍
When he said smerfnerblin I instantly thought of Girly from the main campaign
Why did they have to leave her behind? She was so adorable 😂😂😂😂😂
It has been years and I’m still sad they left her
I watched highrollers at first and didn't keep up enough to where there was to much to catch up on so I am glad I get to watch this. Especially lucky since I just subbed to this channel today from Dice, Camera, Action.
15plus2isnot39 you're lucky. All that high rollers to watch for the first time!
Yeah I gave up trying to catch up with almost 60 3hr long episodes too xD I loved watching Uncharted Territory, you should watch that series :)
but thats the beauty of it, that there is sooo much content and an actually long term adventeur
Lots of great dnd strems out there, very few of them show the character creation, which to me is one of best parts of dnd. liked this a lot!
I think the best evil character I've made was Captain Bloodscale, the Kobold Pirate, the most feared brigand on the high seas. In terms of class, with was an Eldritch Knight Fighter.

Oi, It glows green when unsheathed and red for dragons
The green light means their good to go, the red light means stop.
pretty sure it counts for dragon kin creatures as well as wyverns and drakes fall under the over arcing dragon category. So as far as you know there is a little psudo dragon flying around and your looking for a actual dragon.

That Danny Phantom reference brought me back!! Didn't think Mark would know what that cartoon was 😂😂
I think this convinced me to buy Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide
I love how my character is a cultist who gets resurrected. All from his idea. Thank you dm boi
I love the way Kim looked at Katie when she said "I hang out with sexy ladies"❤
Aye, when Mark said anti-hero characters I immediately thought of my Way of the Long Death Monk.
Incorrecto Mark re Constitution score at 1:38:48. Increases to Constitution are retroactive and apply as if your character had them from 1st level.
Noximus Jamaicanus Where does it say that in the phb? I'm not sure if that's true.
Edit: It turns out that I'm wrong, disregard this comment.
i found tha rule depend most of the time how de dm want to handle score increase points
Mathew it is on page 177.
Had had it pointed out a few times now. Thanks for the clarification. :)
+konquers
That literally applies to every "rule."
Source: DMG p.4, "Introduction," "The Dungeon Master," paragraph 4, sentences 1-2
I thought an aasimar was to angels as tieflings were to demons. They were what happened when an angel got busy with a human.
Originally in 2nd edition they were that, they still can be that. Aasimars and Tieflings are mortals being infused with demonic or angelic stuff some way or another, whether through a cursed/ blessed bloodline, a child of a mixed relationship or aa a result of a pact.
what happens when a tiefling has a child with an aasimar? Would they just be neutral or would they have internal conflictions?
I believe they still are in the pathfinder universe
They basically are. Tieflings have fiendish blood, Aasimar have celestial blood. Kim's playing one of the subraces. Theres Guardian Aasimar, Fallen Aasimar (basically a fallen angel) and a Scourge Aasimar, which are kinda in between, being less holy and good than Guardian but not bad enough to be cast from Celestia
Tieflings are not children of demons and other species. They are far descendants of people who had a child with a demon.

At the end I really expected Mark to say they're off in search of Acquisitions Incorporated
Listening to this while doing some base research on my action research project - not distracting me at all.
I can't be bothered to watch the whole thing again to find it; does anyone know what table Mark used to generate the magical items?
Natalia Odrakiewicz PG. 142 ish in the DMG. I believe all the info is contained between pgs. 142-146
Trott should have names his sword Kindness or Mercy
55:30 Listening to brits trying to pronounce a straight [a] sound with no vowel shift is a sound to behold.
We made the language. Well, after borrowing heavily from everyone else's language....
im guessing that the magic shield is going to be changed or Kim's character is taking the feat that gives her character shield proficiency, cuz bloodhunter's don't got shield prof.
I thought so too but it looks like Aasimar are always proficient with shields.
Katie: There obsessed with death, and the way things die.
Kim: Sounds like me when I was a teenager.
hahahahahahahahaha This is why Kim's the best.
I have a halfling barbarian called Thump Bearbreath, whose preferred method of attack is going for the knees
The formula to find your stat mod:
stat - 10 / 2 rounded down
So 17 - 10 = 6 / 2 = 3.5 ~ 3
Also works negative
9 - 10 = -1 / 2 = -.5 ~ -1
Chikiko Saotome
1...-5
2-3... -4
4-5... -3
6-7... -2
8-9... -1
10-11...+0
12-13... +1
14-15... +2
16-17... +3
18-19... +4
20-21... +5
Shouldn't round down before the division results. Should be 7/2.
I guess Mark doesn't know about the Half-Elf variants in the SCAG.
Silly Noximus, skags are from Borderlands.
I thought he did mention something along those lines
Does anyone have a pdf (or anything similar) of that table that mark used for the magic items. I could really do with that for my campaign.
I feel like this is going to be what I wanted uncharted territory to be
Oh wow, that set looks great so far. So sorry I missed this stream live.
man, trott is such a bro! totally would hang out with him,
Finally #justiceforhazell
I thought wisdom was the primary stat for monks? Maybe I am thinking specifically spell-casting ones such as Four Elements?
Lochie S monks are damage dealers. having high dc on stunning strike is nice but not great if your to hit is terrible. but wisdom is important too. but not the main stat
Not even for a primarily spell-focused build?
Lochie S if you're primarily monk yeah. especially for 4 elements monk types. you will run out of ki points quickly, especially at low levels. having a low to hit will hurt when that happens.
Cool, thanks for the help. :)
Lochie S even four elements monk is, at best, 1/3 caster. of course, you can play however you like and prioritize what you want.
MPMBs character sheet doesn't seem to exist on dmsguild now :-(
Danny Phantom was dope
Except for the final.
^
watch mark's face at 56:23 that just screams "oh thank god"

Woo! They're doing more with Wizards
One thing I want to know is, is Mark going to carry on the theme of the Tomb of Annihilation where he is going to be as murder-y as possible?
I really hope so. Loved Trott getting killed off like every other episode.

23:24 I heard Order of the Goose Slayer.
Anyone know what page the magic item tables were on? Running a one shot for our group again and was going to "gift" them all an inherited item.
Important question: the music in the very beginning of the video: which track is it? How can I get it? Is it on the newly released High Rollers Soundtrack Volume 2?

I only rolled good for my first character Alimir after that not above a 14. Before not be low a 15
Starts at 0:12
Please make a playlist we can grab to make watching this easier. Great concept though, can't wait to see more
What character sheet is Chris Trott is using, I can't find it online.
yeeah, i love those mini series
Whenever he says 'Kimberly' I'm shook, because that's my name too xD
SO SO EXCITED FOR THIS!
Does anyone know the website/app Crispi Trott uses for his Character sheet?
I think Katie was in doubt abour increasing constitution because of some faulty remarks from Mark. When you increase constitution, you add the modifier to hit points as if you had the same modifier from level one, not from the level you gained the ability increase.
*makes a face* Ooh, people complaining about "bad" stats makes me wince. Maybe I'm too much of an old grognard, but...
I love low stats, though having a bunch can be crippling, it's still fun, but only from an RPers perspective.
Spear and magic helmet?
Hell yeah, High Rollers!
Did Trott roll his stats or use standard array? Just wondering why they're so low for a human? Shouldn't every stat be 1 higher?
1:17:15 why did I rewatch tom saying marku so much?????
This is a really good idea
what was the program that trott was using on Dms guild?
What is Trott using that does the character creation for him?
What list are you reading from Mark?
Does anyone have a link to the app thing Trott is using
Oh my gosh he made a danny phantom reference
were can i find that auto PDF ?????
WHERES MY TRELLY BELLY
he unfortunately has quit
he said when he left he would be on the jingle jam high rollers stream go find it on HR reddit
The Watcher he came back for the last couple of sessions and I believe he’s coming back for the second campaign
I cry every time
is he using the random magic item creator in the game master guide?
Yes
Trott has two feat! 😅👌
Will this be a long running series or just a short campaign like UC?
Charlie Holdsworth they said it was a Mini series. Last mini series was just 10 episodes
What website did trott use to do his character ?
Ben Rochford DMsguild
Anti-hero campaign hype!
what happened to the campaign with Cam Buckland and the others?
Rusty Thompson it's still going on Sundays this is a side project :)
yes i see that they haven't done one in 20 days ua-cam.com/video/3k0DX-jfy4s/v-deo.html
The last one was live last sunday, it just hasnt gone up on youtube yet, and the next one will be live tomorrow on twitch.tv/yogscast
Here's the character I came up with while watching:
Rokaan Suel
Half Orc Acolyte Barbarian Path of the Zealot
STR 18 DEX 12 CON 16 INT 10 WIS 9 CHA 12
AC 16 (Inc Shield) Speed 50 (mobile feat) HP 65
Skills; Athletics, Insight, Intimidation, Perception, Religion
+1 Battle Axe - The Grim Executioner
This axe was crafted by a long dead society of humans who would stage public executions of it's defectors, executions carried out by this axe.
TROTTT
What's the music called at 43:30?
Please anyone, i think the music at that part is so amazing and i can't find it anyway :(
Darude Sandstorm
What program was trot using?
Poopkins Automated Character Build on DMsguild
RECKLESS GREAT WEAPON MASTER!!!!!!!!
We've gut a lut of buks. Akzents are great!
What did trott say he was using for his character sheet?
Thorbain Games bit late but just search up Automated character sheet on DMsguild. It's got the purple banners in the photo
OK can anyone help me with this, what is the alternative human race bonus that Trott gets?
The background music is just a bit too loud over the discussions. Just distracting imo and wish it was a bit quieter.
Support the shit out of this boys
Any corona crew.
My Tortle war cleric of Hoar would make a perfect addition to this group.
I ain't never rolled stats that well in my life, can't believe they're complaining
yay highrollers!!
I go with rolling stats as, if you don't roll a single one above 3, that's bad. Don't do that
Mark should let Kim play as Sue.
Big daddy humes!
Half elf construct rogue.
I personally really think a aazamar wood be a quite interesting carictor
Kallum Smart Aasimar
